In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Room lights still flicker. I know others have the same problem. Has anyone gotten this fixed?

Doom lights? Sounds kinda sinister...:D

I just got a 2011 V6 Tech and the DIS seems to take much longer to boot up than it did in my 2009 V6 Tech. (By "booting up," I mean how long it takes to go from the Genesis splash page to the "nanny" page where you have to press the DIS knob.) It has even rebooted half a minute or so after starting. Anyone else noticed this?

My 2011 splash screen stays on a little while longer tha it did on my 2009, and the DIS "re-booted" once, the day after I got it. Since then, it has performed flawlessly.

Shortly after buying mine, I noticed the steering wheel would not keep the memory settings I set. When I had my first oil change, they changed out a module and I have not had any problems since. When I had a second oil change, the paperwork indicated that I had some wear on the rear tires. Currently have about 16,000 miles and am going to western Missouri for Thanksgiving. I'm guessing these OEM tires will need changing somewhere between 25 and 30,000 miles.

I have had a 2010 3.8 for 6 months now----The problem I have, and have had, is the hard hard ride.....It never has "softened up" and everybody who rides in the car brings it to my attention too......Sort of takes the joy out of what otherwise would be a great car.....Will have to get rid of it soon as I cant take the jarring bumpy ride about town, every day, day after day a jarring ride.........Its great on the hwy but I dont ride the highway that much.....very disappointed

For what it's worth, I changed my OEM tires within 20 miles of driving off the dealer's lot. I just couldn't accept the Dunlop factory tires they put on this vehicle. Switched out for Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires, which ride smoother, wear better, and handle wet and slippery conditions far better.

It's probably a moot point by now (it sounds like you've already decided to get rid of this vehicle) but have you either checked the air pressure that you have in your tires? Typically a setting of 33 psi or so is about right for these... Meanwhile, if you do like the other features of it, you might want to consider changing tires completely to see if you can remedy your situation. I didn't like the ride on the factory OEM tires, either, and changed them as soon as I could (first hour.)

Interesting you mention a 2x repair on the tilt/power mechanism... I've had mine in once and it's starting to stick again on the way down at startup... So far, I've not brought it back, but there's clearly something wrong with the overall mechanism.

Took my vehicle back to the dealer last Friday, had the tilt mechanism replaced for the second time. It had gone up to the top and would not come down again (feels kinda like driving a bus... but much smoother). The service manager said that they've had this happen to two customers out of about twenty so far. I'm not sure if it's something about the drivers selecting the auto-exit feature on the DIS to tilt the wheel up and away when you turn off the ignition, and whether those customers are the only ones that are having the problem, but I am considering turning that feature off and using only the seat portion if this starts happening again until I can get it back to the dealer.

This is a characteristic of LED lights - are those the ones that are flickering on your car? Tap the light and try to get them to seat better.

I've owned my 2010 Genesis 4.6 since April and just took it in for its first service issue yesterday due to a "thumping" vibration coming from the transmission. At times when I slow down to about 5 mph and hit the gas peddle I feel a thump instead of a smooth shift. The dealer could find no fault. It’s not a big deal now, but I wanted to go on record with the dealer just in case it become an issue later. Has anyone else noticed the same problem?

We have had our new 2011 4.6 sedan since Sept. 20. Now have just over 6000 miles on it and no probelms. We keep all features turned on and have no problem with any of the automatic stuff. My wife and I did spent a few hours going over the manual and a good bit of time in our driveway learning about our Genesis. It is our second most expensive purchase so it made since to learn and understand all functions and features of the car. I think a few people have problems because they spend little time learning about anything they purchase (ie reading instructions)

Hey, when all else fails, read the manual. Right? .:D

I have had my 2009 Genesis sedan V6 Tech for just over a year and have not had any significant issue with it. However, a couple of things happened this week.

The drivers heated seat control switches itself off on its own and will not switch back on until the car is turned off and started again. This is annoying when it -29oc.

The driver's seat belt decided not to latch. The same day one of the rear seat belts did the same and will not latch. It's heading to shop and I will keep you updated as to what the outcome is.

One minor thing that I have noticed that is very annoying and has caught me out twice so far in the past year. If you don't latch the trunk lid fully closed and leave the car for an extended period time in this state, like overnight, the battery will be completely drained and the car will not start. My old 1997 Ford Expedition has a timer circuit that shuts the light off after 10 minutes if you leave the back hatch or tailgate open. I was shocked that the Genesis did not have this refinement.

On your last point, you can always replace the incandescent bulbs with LED's. I wiped out all the incandescent bulbs from the trunk, license plate, doors, footwells, vanity mirrors, and glove box in favor of LED's that match the map and room lights. Lighting looks much more consistent, is brighter, and uses far less power.

Lexicon speaker system doesn't keep my treble/bass settings (not tech package). Leather has bubbled significantly and cracked on the passenger side although I moisturize it once a month and rarely have passengers. The keyless entry buttons once in a while will get a little messed up on the drivers side (won't lock when I press it, just retry a couple times and always works). It would of been nice if the billion mile warranty these things come with would of replaced my air compressor when a freak accident happened and a rock flew through the fascia and punctured it. Other than those couple minor things, the car has been excellent, I'm at 35,600 miles on an 09' 3.8 with the factory tires. Oddly enough I'm impressed with the amount of power this 6 cylinder has. I have owned a 2004 Cobra (supercharged 4.6 4v 281 motor) and I know street power and even for me I definitely felt they put more than plenty power to these 3.8's. It's all the power you really need in a luxury car, if it could go any faster I'd just tear up its pretty looks :D

I've had the car since April 2009, i have over 35K miles so I've been in it a lot, here are my issues

1. The tires suck
2. The leather seats look warped after a year and a half. I had my old Acura 3.5RL for 8 years and they still looked good.
3. The side view mirrors are in a bad position, too low, i can't see the ground when i'm making a left turn. And they should be heated.
4. I am starting to have issues with my radio. While I'm listening to my IPOD with the Genesis cable and i get a call on my blue-tooth or use the GPS, once i get back to the IPOD, the sound is louder then when i left it. More base, more volume, considerably more, I'm taking it in later this month I'll mention it to the techs.
5. My headlights are positioned too low i had them raised but they are still low, and they appear not to swivel as advertised. The techs said they are fine but what else would they say.

I have more but i don't remember them right now.

When I first got my 2009 V8/Tech package, I wasn't sure the headlight swiveling function was doing anything either. I found if I drove on a poorly lit street, at a low speed (10-25mph), I could wiggle the steering wheel back and forth a bit - enough to have the car making "S" turns along the road. The headlight motion was visible at this time. Pressing the AFLS OFF button and repeating the test convinced me they were in fact tracking the steering wheel.

I leased a 2010 3.8 sedan with all options on October 26, 2010. I took it to the shop on October 28, after the whiz wheel keypack failed to respond to input. On December 3, the dealership advised me that they had finally received the back ordered key pack and installed it. Everything reportedly now works but they screwed up the shift knob and now have to wait for that ordered part to come in. Is there a problem with parts supply/availability for the Genisis? If they are having so much trouble now, how hard will it be to get parts in 5 years? 10 years? Don't want to think about it. The only bright side is that I got a brand new loaner which is the exact same car as what I leased and the 3000 miles I put on it in the last 5 weeks aren't on my leased car;)

I have own mine for 6 months. First problem my check engine light came up for a whole day and took it to the dealership and they said no codes were given; light was off when I picked up the car. Second problem parked the car in the garage for 3 or 4 days, went to start it and it was completely dead. Towed to the dealership they replaced the battery and told me probably was a light left on when I know for a fact that when I parked the car it was daylight and no light was on. After I picked up the car I was driving and the head unit shut down completely for a few seconds and came back on. Right now my car is going to be parked for a few weeks since I work off shore and if the car is dead again or have any problems whatsoever is going straight to the trade in line for real!!!!

Had my 1st problem about a month and a half ago. Drove car for about 30 minutes, and shut car off for about 5 minutes and the car would not restart. Called for a tow and dropped off car at dealer. They gave me a fully loaded Veracruz, so I was happy.

Dealer called me the next day and told me my car was ready. The fuel pump took a dump, so they replaced it. Been fine ever since.
