  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Huddleston's Build Thread

Agreed. A Type-R is already rare as it is, but a low mileage, non abused stock one is even more ultra rare. I'm already jealous.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
woke up this morning happy for a few reasons - first I was notified that the Genesis was featured on another IG account with about 10,000 followers - always nice to see the car is appreciated! Secondly I am finally dropping the car off to get repaired and will be driving a beautiful Acura Integra Type R while the Genesis is in the shop - pics of it coming soon!

I guess I am having al lucky week on Instagram - found the car on another account this morning - Hopefully in years to come it will be fun to look back on all these and see how the car has aged and how she looks compared to current offerings.

Okay guys, I need some input here. The roof rack will be going on right after Christmas - I am very excited to get this finished and actually have a vehicle to get my bike to the trails without being concerned the car I am driving is going to breakdown.

At any rate, I decided to go with Yakima for the base rack, Kuat for dual bike trays, and I am having a custom fairing made by a friends company to help with the wind noise. My issue is this - Even with the large trunk the Genesis does not have enough cargo capacity for 3-4 guys and their luggage for a week long trip. The Genesis is used in Rally events I plan that take participants across different parts of the country, typically I would carry photography gear, suitcases, etc. So I essentially need a cargo solution.

At this point my options are either a removable Yakima cargo box or the Kuat Skinny cargo basket. The benefit to the Yakima box is that when not is use I can store it in the garage, and when its closed it is fully waterproof. The downside is of course the size and the fact that I would need to find a place for it in my already crowded garage, not to mention the price tag of $600. The Kuat cargo basket is a good looking piece, is much narrower, and could be left on the car even with my bike trays attached. It is also easily removable if I wanted to not permanently mount it on the roof. Price is a nice selling point here at $350. It obviously is not waterproof, but that could be remedied by what we place in the basket or by purchasing waterproof protection for the items in the basket.

Thoughts? I have never been a fan of the guys that have roof racks and clearly never use them - unfortunately mine are used on a weekly basis for biking and these rally events are held just about every quarter. The Kuat cargo basket appears larger in pictures - it actually is a little wider than my bikes handlebars.

Made the decision to go with the Kuat cargo basket.

Also, I am doing something a little different on the fairing for the rack - for now I am having a custom black one made from a friend that owns a company that makes the fairings in custom colors and finishes.

the black one will be on the car until we have perfected a woodgrain fairing (it will have to be very close to the oem wood inside the car or my OCD will take over) to add a unique and one of a kind look to the rack.

fun things coming!

as promised, some shots of the Type R "rental car"...

I hope you not putting that thing on your genny lol. I had a few questions starting with the rotors. why, did you find the brake performance slacking? Second, I'm going to also remove all badges(if Im assured it will be done perfectly). My question is can you tell in real life that there was work done around where the holes used to be? I would hate to pay to have that done, then have to cover the mistake with a badge.

I have seen his car in person, and you cannot tell looking at it that it ever had badges.

Thanks Sean. Roof rack on, pictures coming soon!

It's my daily fight4hemp. I don't want to put bikes in my wife's cayenne and it's used frequently.

Screw the cayenne your genny is too beautiful, I got your car as my background wallpaper on my phone lol...smh. I recently purchased a car just so I wouldn't have to put my dog in my new ride and consider I only put about 1,500 miles a year on my car. I feel you though, look forward to the pictures.

We've got dogs too. The cayenne is still the dog hauler. My 91 ls400 is currently being boosted and after its running it'l be a better vehicle for dogs lol

This I gotta see. After reading you were going to do it I went over the roof with a microscope... and there is not a single spot anywhere on the car where a roof rack can be mounted. To say I am intrigued is an understatement.

the Yakima base system works like every other car, it simply clips to the top of the doors/roof. I'll upload pictures Monday. For as much as I bike it was necessary and it does add a bit to the character to the car.

I haven't posted any pictures of the car with the rack on it yet.

I have gone through the entire thread and not one picture. Are they being blocked some how?

Hmm there are a lot of photos in the thread. Have you tried another browser?
