  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Huddleston's Build Thread

Well Huddleston is only in town for the weekend and even then has a very limited window of opportunity to meet (which is why we're meeting in the morning). I on the other hand live in the Houston area so I'm open to a gathering of Genesis folks. When are you and your buddy planning on getting together?

Not sure yet - still ironing out details. I'm doing 12-14 hour days building a data center and will only have limited evenings, but will have all of the weekend (30th-1st) - except the day I am looking to spend at the Johnson Space Center. :) I will PM you as I get closer with more details. Thanks! :)

we will be heading from Northwest Arkansas to Vegas at that time.....hmmmm.

How do the radar jammers (blinders) work? Have they been tested?

I had them added on my 2010 and I can confirm they work. It's possible that I got tested by a photo lidar in Maryland and was going 15 over. Watched the mail for a ticket and never saw anything.

The AL priority system I have is a laser jammer. It essentially matches the frequency of the laser being aimed at the car so the gun cannot register a speed. I have a tester that confirms they are operating correctly.

There is no real way to jam radar. I use my valentine one to aid in Ka band detection.

Anyone seen the new Escort Max360? It takes the best from Escort and V1.

I received a mailer on it. I suppose that the V1 patent must have finally expired. That being said, my V1 still detects most threats before my Passport Max (which was their previous pre-arrow top-of-the-line model). The arrows will definitely help with the bi-directional detection, but I'd have to be convinced to run the Escort solo.

I have used the V1 for years in many cars and it has been very good to me. The technology continually changes so I would definitely be open to changing if the new Escort proves to be both reliable and can provide the same early detection that the V1 does.

Waze is my radar detector.

haha, i use a number of "countermeasures" as Alex Roy says....

V1, waze, AL priority system and during rally events the passenger has binoculars.

waze is wonderful though :-)

How much is that...would u do it again

the price depends on the set up you go with and the number of jammer heads you want. on a car the size of the Genesis you typically need dual heads for the front and dual for the rear. You can get systems that start at $800 (these may not defeat all types of laser guns and may only partially jam others) or can spring for a more expensive system that allows you to update the firmware to keep up with the new laser guns being used. These can be north of $2000.

As with many things, you tend to get what you pay for. I do many road rally events so it was worth the investment to me. The cost/benefit doesn't pan out this way for most drivers.

Dammit. ?.I better slow down ...I dont roll like that...lol

Probably good advice. On my normal commute I don't typically speed as it goes through mainly residential areas and traffic is a pain. It is nice to have some peace of mind when going at a high rate of speed... still, nothing is 100%. Speeding is always a risk, just don't get too mad when you get caught.

I am sure there will be many comparisons. I wanted to upgrade my V1, but held off because I felt the V1 lacked many of the newer features (like GPS). I ended up disabling POP on my current V1. Assuming the Escort does well in tests, I might be a convert. My current V1 is from 2008.
