Hyundai Genesis: post up your compliments/stares/double takes thread

Re: 2015 Genesis: post up your compliments/stares/double takes thread

I had a lot of questions and comments for my 2009 Platinum Genesis, but I have never had even a bit of interest in my Parisian Gray 2015. Odd, since I think this car has so much more presence than the 2009 and the Parisian Gray really sets it off.

That's really odd. I'm one of those old farts who sits in the car when his wife is in the stores shopping and I see so many people stare at our 2g as they walk by that it's fun and sometimes funny. I think the 2g has a kinda quiet elegance that is eye-catching. I agree that part of it is the fact that there so few around, but there a lot of unfamiliar cars out there lately and most of them don't deserve a second look (IMO). Not OMG, but certainly head-turning! Two definitely different reactions. :)

Had a Black RPEC follow me into the Publix parking lot yesterday and out popped an elderly woman wanting to know all about the new Genesis. She left without going into the store. Presumably she was heading to the dealer. :D

We've taken our white Genesis to cars and coffee for the past few weeks; it gets a lot more attention than I expected it too! People walk around it and I've overheard several comment about it being beautiful or "That's a Hyundai?" Also, we were driving past the local high school the other day and overheard a guy say to his friend: "Look at that Aston Martin!" I for one think the car looks fantastic as well.

Re: 2015 Genesis: post up your compliments/stares/double takes thread

I get compliments all of the time, double takes while I'm driving. People hanging out of windows to see what it is.
The best one thus far was a lady at the mall taking pictures of my car with her cell phone. I saw her as I was walking up. Love this car!

Yesterday morning, I stopped at 7/11 and was pulling up to the gas pumps. A gentlemen (looked to be in his 50's) was crossing in front of my car. I noticed he started to stare at the front of my car as he walks by and he continued as he walked inside the store. After parking, I went inside the store. After paying at the register and as I'm walking out the door, I observed the man walking around the back of my car. He was looking it over/head canted to the side. As if he was trying to figure out what kind of car it is. :D (debadged the rear and installed the wings) He keeps walking and get's in his car. After getting in mine, I observe him drive by the front of my car absolutely starring and turning his head for a last look as he was driving away.

Working in the front yard yesterday morning and a guy walking his dog stopped and asked who makes that car. I told him it is the new Hyundai Genesis. He said "Man has Hyundai come along way".

This is exactly what happened to me a day before when I was at Chase Bank. While I was talking to the representative, and I saw a guy started staring at my car. He walked around just to figure out the make but failed to do so..:). He came inside and asked me- "What kinda car is that? I have never heard of that 'Genesis' name before". ...I love this experience!!

Live in Tucson. Plenty of BMW 7's, Benz's, Jags, and a few Bentlys. Not one 2015 Genesis except mine, though. I had a guy in a BMW 7 series swearing all over the place when he looked at my car and compared it to his….and what he paid. The 2015 is definitely in a class all its own right now.

Mine is black, with black tinted windows and full black wheels. Heads turn everywhere.

Post up a picture. I'm having window tint installed on Monday.

I wold like to chime in on this. I was driving on the PA turnpike, it was about 8 pm cursing along and this guy pulled up on the side of me and slowed down. He stayed with me for about 5 miles then got behind me. I pulled off at one of the service stations. This guy followed me and ran over to my car and scream, what is this? Is this a Bentley? I told him no its the new Genesis. Then another guy walked over and started starring. Both of them said gesh Hyundai has come a long ways. My buddy with me said I know your head is big. I said you got that right! :D

I have have been in the car for a month already it gets better every day. It is truly fantastic and I have been in a Lexus for 20 years. The ride is so smooth and quiet and the lane changing stuff is over the top !!!

At Costco today loading my trunk from today's shopping and a very attractive lady stopped and asked if my car was a Bentley. We talked about the car for 15 mins, and what an awesome vehicle it is.

There must be some awfully ignorant people out there to think the Genesis is a Bentley (or Aston Martin). While I've gotten lots of stares/admiring looks/found people doing walk arounds, they usually just like the car's look and want to know what it is. Because of the wings, someone recently told me they thought it was a new Chrysler...

It goes to show how good Hyundai designed the Genesis. I had the same issues with my 2012 Gen Coupe. Throw the wing badges on a Honda, Mazda or Toyota and most people won't mistake it for a Bentley or Aston Martin.

After you told her "Why yes it is a Bentley", the next fifteen minutes was even better.:D

Either you're right or she wanted to strike up a convo with me. Either way the car makes me look successful :D

Re: 2015 Genesis: post up your compliments/stares/double takes thread

I couldn't get away from two hotel valets who wanted to talk endlessly about the Genesis. When I said I preferred to self-park it, one said "I don't blame you for not letting anyone drive it!"
