  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hyundai Genesis: post up your compliments/stares/double takes thread

I'd love to have lunch! I haven't had much luck with a Houston meet (mostly because Houston I think is just too big), but Austin I think is perfect. I'm there once a month at least. I'll let you know when I'm back in town, likely within the next couple of weeks.

Please let me know when you are in town too. It would be great to get together!!!

I've had my car less than 24 hours, and I've already had one discussion with an admirer, two people checking it out hard when they didn't see me looking, and several people turn their heads (although that may be from my driving style). They're still very rare here.

I live in the Raleigh area and at most see 2 a week sometimes none. Same used to be said for the first generation but now I pretty much see one every other day.

Same here in South Florida... I see at least one to three per week. What I haven't seen yet is another Montecito Blue one :D

Just Friday, as I was heading home from a meeting with a client in a town near here, I pulled up to a red light. Next to me, pulled a 2003 (ish) Hyundai Sonata. Back when it was one of the bigger cars in the Hyundai lineup.
The people in the car had their windows down, music up, and the car was in pretty ragged shape. My windows were down as well because it was a beautiful day.

The driver looks at me, then says back to the people in his car (rather loudly since their radio was up).
"Look at this one percenter mother-****er right here in the Bentley."

I looked at them to see where they were looking, but they were all staring right at me, giving me pretty nasty looks.

I started laughing, which turned into hysterical laughter a few seconds later when their expressions turned from sour to anger.

The light turned green and I just said to them...
"It's your car 12 years later dick-head."
I doubt they ever made the connection since I'm wing-badged, but it definitely made me roll.

Your car looks awesome TexityTex. I love the color :D

I pulled up to the Hyundai dealership where I bought my Genesis to get a new key FOB programmed (I mistakenly ran the other one through the wash) and two of the service guys and one of the salespeople came up to check out and talk to me about my ride. It's especially nice because they see Genesii all the time.

Also while I was at that same dealership, a G1 owner did a full multi-pass walk around my car. Not other brand new G2s which were sitting a few feet away in the showroom, but my car.

lol Alwaysforward, you're alright with me. If you ever find yourself near one of the big cities in Texas let me know. I'll show you some good BBQ.

Sounds like a plan. I will buy... Won't be until 2017. We already have a family vacation planned for this year. 12 of us and I am buying

I was driving my Caspian G2 3.8 today, in traffic, when a driver on my right got my attention. I rolled down the window and he asked "what kind of car is that?" I told him and he said, "A Hyundai?!?! Wow, Its a beautiful car". I thanked him and we moved on...my passenger window was still down.....just behind him, a driver in a pick-up came aside me and asked if the guy had asked me what kind of car this was. When I said yes, he laughed and said that he has a couple of friends who have G2s who are constantly being asked what make of car it is.....he said Hyundai finally got it right!....I agree.

I had a guy in a BMW convertible (looked like a 6 Series) openly staring at my car at a red light (he was a couple of cars back). He then made a noticeable effort to catch up to me, and followed me pretty closely for a while before backing off. I can only assume he was trying to figure out what it was.

I was out with some friends Friday night and as we were leaving dinner, we were walking up to the Genesis from the side. I happened to park directly in front of them (another married couple) so they naturally headed to their car. I began to notice the girl (pretty attractive) take interest in the car, checking it out as they were walking towards the rear. As soon as she realized it was mine she quickly asked "is that a Jaguar?" I could tell her husband was a little jealous by her reaction to the car (he was driving a Ford Fusion). After a quick laugh to myself, I nonchalantly said "no, it's a Hyundai Genesis" before going on my way and wondering how confused she must have fealt.

After I parallel parked my car on the street and was waiting to get out, a guy was walking by with his (presumed) wife. He leaned over to stare at the hood badge to try to figure out what it was. I would have told him, but I was on the phone.

Went to pay at the car wash and when asked which car is mine, I said the "white one over there." The car wash owner then told me "oh that white Bentley, that's a nice car."

So far it's been one Bentley and two Mercedes.

I get the Bentley quite often, never had anyone guess it as a Merc, but I have had a few people mention my "Aston". One guy even asked me how hard it was to get my Rapide serviced in East Texas.
This one stumped me... typically people that think it's a Bentley or Aston are interested in cars, but don't really know anything about them. This guy not only thought it was an Aston, but thought it was the Rapide. Which mean he knew the Rapide was the 4 door, but had never seen even a picture of one.
