If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone know if the 2015 3.8 HTRAC Ultimate has the wiring in place for the Illuminated Door Sill Plates that come on the 5.0?

I don't know, but on the 2009-2014 models the wiring was in place, and upgrade kits were sold on eBay by various Korean import firms.

Thanks Mark_888. I may pop mine off to take a look for the wiring harness. I understand wanting to have the 5.0 have some unique items for it, but in my opinion a 3.8 AWD Ultimate should as well. Maybe when they release the 5.0 AWD there will be some new add-ons for the 3.8.

On the first generation Genesis, it may be that there is only a receptacle where the wires plug into. The actual wires with plug may come with the Illuminated Door Sill Plates (at least the ones sold by Korean import vendors may have had the wires). But since I did not do that upgrade, I could be wrong. You might want to contact one of the importers and see if they will offer an upgrade kit for the 2015.

Thanks for the insights. As a new Genesis owner, I love these forums and the willingness of everyone to help.

I added the plates on my 2009 3.8 and everything was in place. I have ordered the plates for my '15 3.8 from the dealer's parts dept. I SHOULD have the driver side this week but the passenger side is showing an October delivery in their system

Please let me know how the install goes. Any chance you remember the part numbers for those?

How much did you pay for them?

You were able to buy the one door sill only? Seems odd. For Gen 1 you could order either a set for the front, a set for the rear, or all four.

Catching the three questions-
I'm picking up the driver's door sill in about an hour. It's at the dealer's parts dept. I'll answer all the Q's in a day or so.

Was that from an importer or dealer parts department? The importers probably only sell them in pairs, since they are upgrades. Dealers sell them as replacement parts, so probably individually.

Here's the part number for the left door sill. The price was $122.47
The right side is still on order and will not be in till October.

Thank you... I'll try to order mine soon. Please let me know how the install goes.

Ok. It is not part of the 3.8 wiring harness. Here's the guts of it.....

The harness APPEARS to have black tape over a spot where the door sill should plug in. I stopped at this point and put things back since it was late. When I have more time, I'll dig into the harness and see if the connect point is obvious. If not... I'll start doing voltage measurments. IF anyone happens to have access to a wiring diagram of the '15, it sure would same time :)

Here are a few more pics to get a better idea of how to get to the point of the pic above.....

^Are you sure? It looks to me like the male connector plug is sitting there.

I'm curious as to how the connector/wire gets past the gasket/weather strip as there doesn't seem to be a hole big enough under the sill plate itself?

Definitely a bit different from previous model. Nice tile garage floor!

The wiring from the sill is like flexible printed circuit material. Flat. It tucks under the seal.

Thanks. I hated plain concrete and instead of doing epoxy or diamond polish, I went for industrial grade VCT about 5 years ago. Only 1 tile gives me grief, but overall it works really well.

I'll be working with it again tonight to be sure, and/or finding wires to make it work.

Last night it looked like a harness attach point to the frame or a female receiver for the plastic fascia that I pried back out of the way. But I'll sure look again.
