  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Illuminated Door Sill Plates - 3.8 HTRAC Ultimate

I've done door seals in my genesis coupe before, I wired the negative to the door switch and positive into the fuse box, have to check how easy is access to the door switch, might be a better solution

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
0.007 amps is 7 milli amps not 7 micro amps.

Have Genesis 3.8 2016 will check this out to find out if these is any switched wire running in the sill. Does not need to be at +12v as I can easily use a simple transistor translator to allow the "any switched voltage" to have +12v appear at the collector of the transistor.
Failing this will check what wire(s) carry some reasonable current and then use a current clamp transformer to activate a similar switching transistor.

I realized after I posted that it should be wired in this way, with a positive at fuse box and negative off of dimming ground wire lol. Got confused because I also use a switch to turn them on. Thanks!

I'd love to see a circuit drawn out and links to pieces

I don't understand why you guys spend the extra $75 on some freaken wires?? I put these sills into my Ultimate and honestly it was the easiest project I have done thus far. When I got the door sills, I cut off the connectors, so I had the black and red wires exposed. I hooked mine up to the footwell LED lights so when you put the car in Park or when you open the door, the door sills light up. Also they are rated for 7.7V so applying 12V will not make them any brighter (yes, I have tried and used a multimeter). I guess being an electrical engineer, these kinds of projects are cake!

I already have these on my 2015 Hyundai genesis coupe 3.8 ultimate and I'm just wondering if I can/how to change the color of them from the stock blue to red. Anyone have any ideas here?

In Canada I got the Door Sill Plates from the factory on my 3.8 Tech Pkg.

AWD also comes standard though on all models, so probably just some geographical differences.
