  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

3.3T Intake comparisons

And to further clarify, these are how the elbows look before removal...

You're basically eliminating 3 and a half 90° bends from the intake tract by removing them. Definitely a bottleneck.

Hard to argue with free power.
So those hidden intakes you point to are where all incoming OEM air originates from? Looks restrictive. Never have looked close enough to understand where incoming air came from? I have some K&Ns to drop into my factory airboxes at some point but would not mind improving on incoming air at that time. Pulling the whole front end of the car off does not look fun.

Bumper removal really isn't that bad. You just need to be gentle with everything, and take your time. Last time I did it, it only took about 15 minutes. But the first time was about an hour.

Yup Todd ain’t kidding First time I took my bumper off I was thinking to myself “am I really about to take my entire bumper off my car”. After I actually removed it my thought was “that’s it?” Just keep a good track of where you put tour hardware and good note of where everything does the first time.

100% - Exactly the same thoughts.

I finally bought and received the Stillen CAI but haven't had the time to install them. I'll try to get it done this weekend and post about it or do an install video or something.
So, last night I started to install the Stillen intakes. I started with the passenger side and removed the OEM intake and began attempting the install of the Stillen CAI. I went slowly and had already watched the install videos several times along with reading the instructions. It started getting late and I ended up reinstalling the OEM intake and I plan to work on it this weekend. The only way I can summarize how it went last night is this: Do you recall watching Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince when Harry was making a potion? Everyone was following the directions closely except Harry. I feel like one of the kids following directions and getting frustrated. My guess is that I will need to follow Harry's lead with this install instead somehow. Link to video for reference.

I finally finished the install of the Stillen intakes. Pretty straight forward if you read the directions and/or watch the YouTube install video except for a few minor differences since both the instructions and the video are specific for the Stinger. Here are three pictures, passenger side, driver side, full view engine bay. Additionally are two videos, both inside my garage (because it was raining) one video is inside the cabin with all windows closed, the second video is with just the driver side window fully down (open). Click on this link to access the two videos: Stillen CAI Not sure about HP gain. The Torque gain is very real though, I was pushing 400 lb/ft easily and if I were on the highway, I'm sure it would have surpassed that number.

No videos? Maybe they didn’t attach

Click on the words Stillen CAI in the post.
Gotcha couldn’t tell if it was an auto link from the forum or one on purpose. I’ll check these out soon, thanks!

Sounds great!

Are the back sides sealed or is there openings near the bottom? Dry filters?

What is involved for removing and cleaning filter?

Yes, back sides are sealed and I'm using a dry flow AEM filter.

That part of the maintenance involves removing both the plastic side piece and the top cover. Not the worst thing but for sure more involved than what it takes to remove the filter from the oem setup. The best thing about it besides the torque increase is that it breathes much better without an over abundance of noise. Revving the engine in park sounds tough/aggressive however while driving it, it's not as loud as one might think based on the audio in the videos. The whoosh sound is not as prevalent driving like a normal person unless you rev it past 4500rpm then you can hear the whoosh while driving.

I just installed the K&N typhoon cold air intakes on my car(3.3t g70) and was just wondering if anyone has the same thing going on with their car. When you first start the car, it sounds like a vacuum sucking in cold air for about 30 seconds and then it stops. It is probably a normal thing, but I was just wondering if it does this for anyone else?

normal for aftermarket intakes. My mom stayed with me a year or two ago and during cold start ups she would refer to mine as a jet engine....she could hear it in the house! This was a single intake too, cant imagine how loud the G70 is with 2 :p

Normal. It's warming up the cats. You can just hear it much louder with the aftermarket intakes.

So I had the K&N Cold air intakes for about 2 weeks now and everything seems to be fine. However, when I'm on throttle, instead of just one long continuous suction of air, my intake will stutter and do multiple quick consecutive suction sounds like it is struggling or something. I never heard this on other cars so I was wondering if I had a problem. It happens when I am about 50% throttle.
