  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Navigation Map and Software Update Discussion Thread

Does anyone know what cell service (in the USA) Genesis uses? (I'm assuming this OTA update is coming to the car that way, and not via WiFi). We have very poor cell service at our house and my update is taking over 90 minutes to complete. Wondering if I should get in the car and move it to an area with better cell coverage...
Genesis should be using Verizon in the USA.

Oh, now that's interesting! I wonder what they "streamlined" to make it smaller?
They may mean an incremental update, where only files that requires updating gets downloaded. The client device merges them together, checks the hash, then applies the update.

Definitely not TMo. The area of the the Air Force base I work on does not get TMo.

Damnit. I saw the update available on their site and hurriedly manually updated it. Only to then find out it's still downloading the previous version (Canada) I wish I checked here first, I got so hyped, and they still haven't fixed it!!

So a quick update for Canadians (Even though I think some of you in canada got it for some reason). I contacted both MapnSoft chat, and called in to genesis navigation update support. Both says it's NOT available for the GV60 yet. The guy from genesis navigation support said likely October, as it should only be available for G70/G80/Gv70/gv80 right now.

I don't know how accurate this is, but, definitely jealous of you guys that have it right now.

Our condolences to our dear friends to the north! We've been waiting for this for so long, so we know how it feels!:cry:

On my 2023 GV60 (located in California), I get the attached screen on the software update screen. It looks like my car is performing a background download. The description doesn't mention wireless carplay, but the version is 240826, which I think is the newest. Just wanted to double check if my car is downloading the update that would enable wireless carplay? The image is a bit small so you may have to click on it to enlarge so it is legible. :)

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
My DK2 and face recognition may need to be reset. Since the update it is not recognizing the phone. I tired face recognition which went green but did not open the door. A second attempt worked. I have not had this issue with facial recognition before.

That is the correct one.

Yup that's the wireless carplay/Android Auto update. Just got it updated on mine too and it worked immediately after system reboot (and unpairing then repairing phone).

WOW! This update is fantastic! I love the map directions in the HUD. When the map is displayed in front of the steering wheel, it shows the "close up" view there while showing the overall route in the main center screen. Fantastic. I also really like the new charging screen, I can read the time remaining from outside the car (so I don't have to get back in). Looking forward to exploring further.

My Calendar is now working.

Oh! And I played around a bit with the Reference/Surround toggle last night.

It seems to stick - per source - when I switch between Sounds of Nature, FM, and USB.

I also experimented a bit with the toggle and a 7.1 LPCM demo file. In Reference, the Front Left/Center/Right, Left and Right Surrounds, and Left/Right Rear Surrounds were all very discrete with the fronts being very much front, the left/right surrounds coming from the sides, and the rear surrounds being clearly behind me.

When I switched to surround with the synthetic surround level set to max, the sides and rears sounded about the same but the front channels clearly expanded toward and behind me. When I dialed the level back to half, the fronts weren't pushed as far towards me. For true, discrete sources, turning on the synthetic surround was not an improvement.

My download started at vehicle startup but the rest was mostly done while off. Prompts came up a couple times saying you can turn off which I did. Maybe that is why it took 4+ hours. Vehicle was only on ~90 minutes of the 4+ hours.

On my GV60P if you selected "Surround" sound instead of "Reference" it always reverted back to reference. There is a icon on the top right of the screen. I think it only works wit

Hi skiingj- maybe they fixed that between your ‘23 GV60P and my ‘24 GV60P because I have never encountered that problem. I have some inputs set to Surround and others set to Reference and the car always faithfully sticks to those settings.

Meanwhile, delighted as I am to have all the goodies that come with wireless CarPlay, and not meaning to be greedy, but does anyone know, is this all we are getting in the way of updates for this year? Has anyone discovered any updates in this package that go beyond CarPlay related things? Does anyone know if Hyundai is going to abandon updating their own maps now that we all have ready access to Apple and Google maps? Has anyone heard anything about Hyundai updating any other things?

I did not have to do anything, but it did take like 45 minutes and I had to leave my car running the entire time.
It did take a long time. I finally just parked it in my garage and left it running. Nice thing about electric cars...no exhaust fumes to worry about. Finally downloaded and installed.

…and then there was one (country still remaining to get the update).
