If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Recall/Free Tire Replacement???

I purchased a replacement Hankook 18" from Pep Boys. They were the only tire store in that had it in stock. I had a blow out and did not want to ride on the donut for an unknown period as Hyundai did not know at the time when the Michelins would be available. I paid $ 237 with tax installed. 3 days later my dealer informs me the new replacements are in!! They are reimbursing me for the Hankook I purchased.! My dealer is Hub on 290 in Houston. Have always treated me well. This is my 2nd Genesis and 1 Equus.

Pep Boys is not exactly known for high end merchandise.

You might still be able to buy a fox tail there.

If you had a convertible.

And an antenna to hang it on.

Pep Boys carries tires from almost all of the major manufacturers so the fact that they carry Hankook is meaningless - Tire Rack carries Hankook too!

Also, Hankook suppplie tires as OEM to many brands including Mercedes Benz and BMW..

I was very careful in saying nothing of a derogatory nature about the quality of Hankook tires.

I think the recall campaign which is the subject of this thread addresses that issue quite adequately.

Be a shame if the Merc/BMW people have to do the same recall.

I received my letter a few days ago, in my case it was a Michelin Primacy MXM4 tire replacement. No expiration date either. I plan on wearing my OEM Hankook's out then replacing. I didn't notice "slight" noise and vibration (which was stated as the cause in the letter), but I wasn't happy with the snow performance of the Hankooks, was going to replace with another brand anyway. Nice move on Hyundai to do this, increases my loyalty to the brand/model.

Wait, you mean Hyundai gained your further brand loyalty instead of losing credibility by providing you with the choice to have free Michelin tires? Really?

Someone posted that the change was good for up to 3 years, but my letter says "At your earliest convenience". How long can I wait to get them exchanged? I have just about 15K on my car at this point.

LOVE serendipity! I just came on here to SEARCH this thread because I TOO got my letter and read it over three times searching for precisely that: the "three years" mentioned, and found nada and David your post was right up top!

I'm going to take her in for an oil replacement - took me 8 months to about hit 5k - and do the rear light replacement, but I'd like to NOT do tires for as long as possible as well.

So I'm bumping this: can anyone ACTUALLY GIVE US AN ONLINE REFERENCE OR A VISUAL to where this "three years" comes from?!

Thank you all so much!!!

This was originally mentioned in post 198 of this thread

Called the 877 number and customer service looked up my car by VIN...he said all genesis 2015 are eligible for new tires...The good news is Hyundai will swap out tires for 3 years after the letter sent out which should be this month..I will wait at least 2 years from now..I have no problem with Hankooks and by waiting will avoid having to buy new tires when car is 6 years old...I live in Florida and put very little mileage but change out tires because of heat causing cracking..This way can keep the car 7 or 8 years and not need to buy a new set of Tires...Very generous offer from Hyundai..

Idk if I should replace or not lol 50/50.. The ratings aren't even that good and some say there are. Anybody in the New York area. Brooklyn, Queens or Long island did the change yet??

The hankook are good tires but the ride is firm compare to the Michelin Primacy MXM4. The Michelin's all around are better tire great ride quality and less tire noise. Go to consumer report. I'm waiting for my replacement , should be here in 3 days.

The "Three years" comes from the multiple of us who have called Hyundai customer care and been told this over the phone, myself included.

Fantastic thank you!

I think I - and others - were hoping the three years was somewhere in writing, but I'll give them a call and see if I can get a commitment from an agent. What I'm - hoping - now I think of it, is that they won't say, "Well you MUST get this exchange done the FIRST time you bring it in or it ain't available." We'll see as I'm not unhappy with tires but the car DOES sway and I'm not sure if its the flatspotting problem or not but I think not as I think I feel it long after car is warmed up; need to doublecheck.

I’ve called customer service numerous times and honestly tell you that I’ve gotten different or wrong answers from them more times than not. Just to give you an example 2 weeks ago I called to ask about the tires and was told “there was no tire replacement campaign” . One day later I called spoke to a different person and was asked what was my VIN number then told my car wasn’t on the list. One week ago I got the letter for the tire exchange from Hyundai. Get the picture? This 3 year thing…..if it’s not written in B/W doesn’t matter who says what.

I wanted the 3 year commitment in writing so I sent customer care an email and received this response:

"We are happy to inform you that the offer is valid for three years (through March of 2018). Once you are ready to have the tires on your Genesis replaced you may then schedule an appointment with your preferred Hyundai dealership at your earliest convenience to redeem this offer."

👆👍 good news.

Had my tire recall done today. So far, so good. They seem to handle pretty well and are quiet and comfortable to boot. :)

From hyundai::

"Hyundai has become aware of a small number of comments from customers in Korea and the U.S. of a minor vibration and slight tire noise on some 2015 model year Genesis sedans. Because this is our flagship sports sedan, we are taking the unprecedented step of replacing all tires on all vehicles sold with new tires as a means of assuring you that we will take all steps necessary in guaranteeing your total satisfaction with your Genesis. For your convenience, our offer for replacement is available for the next three years (through March of 2018)."

I havent noticed many issues with the tires unless they were contributing to my sunroof rattle. That has stopped with the warmer weather. I plan on waiting till I either have a problem or get as many miles out of these tires that I can then replacing. I'm happy to save hundreds of dollars on new tires..

I'm having my sunroof looked at next Monday. I'll keep you posted.

Not knocking the move to offer replacement tires for those unhappy with their Hankooks - but they decide to replace the Ultra Performance AS tires on their "flagship sports sedan" (they really wrote that?) with Grand Touring AS tires - ummm, sure - that makes sense....
