Recall/Free Tire Replacement???

the power is in your hands...don't have the tires replaced or the ECU reprogrammed...seems pretty simple to me.

Maybe it seems pretty simple to you because you have no understanding if the problem. The tires are DEFECTIVE and have serious flat spot issues. As a result, they should be replaced with EQUAL tires, but cheaper lower performing tires, that require a change to the vehicles programming.

If the engine in your car had to be replaced, would you be ok if they swapped it out for a 200HP V6? a 4 cylinder? I seriously doubt that.

The tires on the 2009-2011 Genesis were far worse than the Hankook's, and they weren't replaced by Hyundai. No one is forcing you to have the Hankook's replaced.

amen to that! my father leased a 2009 v6 genesis, and the dunlops on his car were worn out by 20k miles!! needless to say he was not a happy camper!

I never said I was being forced to change them did i? The point is the tires are defective, and they should be replaced with EQUAL tires. Maybe you dont have a problem with this, but I do, and I am sure many other people do. Thats my right and my opinion.

I don't think they are defective. Who told you that? They have nylon belts which tend to flat spot in cold weather. That is a feature, not a defect.

if the tires are indeed DEFECTIVE...there should be a recall. there has been no recall...just a customer action to make 99% of genesis buyers/leasers even happier with their vehicles. you apparently are the 1%. and i find your engine comparison laughable. peace out brother!

Given the number of people on this forum who have said they intend to run down their Hankook's (or wait right before offer expires in April 2018) before getting the free replacement tires, it doesn't seem like it is that bad to me.

Also, I don't see why anyone with normal size (or larger) anatomy would care if their car was speed-limited to 130 mph with a ECU update.

No, I have an early model Genesis, and had to replace my POS OEM Dunlop's after about 20K miles. I was one of the lucky ones, as some had to replace them a lot sooner.

Are you really just an idiot? What does them putting lower grade performance tires and changing the ECM on my vehicle have to do with anatomy? They should have replaced the defective tires with EQUAL grade and speed rated tires. SIMPLE!

same here...might as well put some miles on the hankooks before getting the michelins installed...that way i for sure won't have to replace any tires before the car goes back to hyundai three years from now! anyone know how may miles these 18 inch hankooks are good for, under normal driving conditions?

you seem so obsessed with the speed rating of the tires in question, that you totally ignore the potential benefits of switching to the michelns. the michelines may well last longer and provide for a quieter ride/drive vs the hankooks. and that is what matters to most of us since the vast majority of genesis operators will never surpass 130 mph!

Dungflops were the worst back then... Had them on the rentals... With that said, Stang has a good point. All you guys, quit gang in up on him.... I am sure he is appreciative they are offering what they are... However, want to keep his car whole as he bought it... As he should. No 130 mph limit, or changing the type of tires..

Maybe Hyundai is learning a lesson from the Dungflops with this voluntary recall. Easy for me to say... I get W rated for the 5.0. What about him and the other V6 owners who spend EXTRA money for their wheel and tire combo, than a base model? He has a good point.. Admit as much, say that personally it may not matter for you, and back his point anyway... Do pile on like a bunch of metro Bavarian owner drive by bullies, does not make much sense. IMO.

oops, my bad...i thought the H rating only covered up to 115-120 mph. interesting however that a couple of the tire web sites list the V rated mxm4 as the current OEM tire on the 3.8 genesis.
