In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Recall/Free Tire Replacement???

I took it into Patterson Hyundai again after they said they would look at it.

..........It turned out to be a balancing issue. These are the "extra" weights they removed from my front wheels. They said they had never seen anything like this before and gave me the weight to take back to the other dealer and tell them how stupid they are.
I've seen this sort of thing before, but not in a long time.

It just proves once again that no matter how good the machines are, the mechanics will find a way to screw things up. This is why I always check lug nut torque anytime I think a mechanic has even been near the wheels.

Probably really good advice. I've had really good luck (knock on wood) with dealer services on my other cars before this with Ford/BMW/Mercedes. This is my first Hyundai and I just couldn't believe they could do this to my car and then tell me they're not going to fix it. I'm still super irritated at Hyundai Corp, but Patterson Hyundai was great and did fix it even though they had no obligation to.

Thank you for the tip DRS - I will bring this up at the dealer when I go back in. This is my second time going for a re-balance, so it could very well be what you said. I will let you know, hopefully it works out.

You are very welcome.. Look forward to your update.

Sent note yesterday to Hyundai Canada with VIN# and got this reply:

"Thank you for contacting Hyundai Auto Canada.
Campaign C243: Genesis Tire Replacement has been released to address the issue you are referring to. Hyundai has become aware of a minor vibration and slight tire noise on some 2015 Genesis sedans, so we are replacing all tires on all cars sold with new tires to ensure customer satisfaction with the vehicle. This is not a safety issue, it is simply to remedy the noise and vibration problem some customers are experiencing with their tires. Your local dealership will replace the current tires with four brand new tires. You can make an appointment at any Hyundai dealership to have your tires replaced.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions.

Erin

I read the following on the Car & Driver test of the 2016 Audi A7. It uses the same Continental tires as on our recall. It seems they are not as good a performer on the A7 as what came on them before.

"Braking is powerful and fade free, with good stopping distances (166 feet from 70 mph), although we’ve seen better in other A7s. We put this down to our test car’s Continental ProContact TX (265/35-20) all-season tires. This also applies to skidpad performance; 0.84 g isn’t bad, but we’ve recorded as high as 0.91 in previous tests."

However, the cars they previous tested may have had summer tires.

I plan on keeping the Hankooks even though I'm not happy with the flat spotting. I had ProContacts (not TX) on my Subaru Outback and was not real impressed.

The 5.0 has 19" tires and the 3.8 has 18" tires and Hyundai is replacing the original tires with Michelin GreenX Primacy MXM4 245/45R18 96V on the 3.8; as noted the 5.0 is getting Continentals. We own a 2015 5.0 and a 2015 3.8. I did receive the letter for our 5.0 about two months ago but I did not replace the tires then because the 5.0 only had 3500 miles on it at that point and there is no expiration date on this campaign. However, our 3.8 now has 18,000+ miles so I called the number on the 5.0 letter and asked them to replace my tires now. They called my dealer who had the tires and I replaced them yesterday as a matter of fact. I don't know much about tires but these new ones seem quieter and the ride is better. I did notice with the original Hankooks that I got noticeable vibration at 80mph; not sure whether that was because I had 18,000 miles on those tires or not. Can anyone tell me anything about these Michelins they put on my 3.8? Are they better tires? And how will they wear? One thing interesting: I ask at the dealer if I could purchase one of the old tires so I would have a full size spare in the trunk. I was told that they drill holes in the old tires and send them back to the manufacturer for some sort of rebate. That suggests there was a defect in the tires, or? I did find it amazing that Hyundai would go to this expense if there was no defect in the tires. If it was just a matter of noise, that's pretty impressive . . .

there seems to be differing opinion on whether the michelins are "better" or not vs the hankooks. the original hankook tires were W rated so the car had a higher top speed limit. although i doubt the v6 could ever reach those speeds. the michelins are V rated. the michelins are also tread life rated to 55k miles....not sure about the korean tires.

My take on it

For what it’s worth here is my opinion from a prior post as relates to a V6 AWD. Don't care about the speed reduction don't plan on doing over the rated speed anytime in the future probably never.

Agreed that dedicated snows are the best for severe conditions. My Michelins have never exhibited any flat spotting problems on my prior car or my present car. I am well aware of the reports asserting said problems. Don't really understand it but don't doubt it. Possibly a run of bad tires. My opinion of the bad weather performance of the Hankooks I stand by from experience. Not talking about deep snow either but light snow. My wife would not drive the car in even light snow and often commented about loss of traction in rain. The new tires are excellent in the rain. While they've not been tested in snow yet judging from my prior experience with them on my AWD Infiniti I'm confident as to what to expect.

Had my tires replaced about a week ago with Conti's. They definitely cure flat-spotting which was very noticeable on my Hankooks. Conti's also seem to at least as quiet, I think better, and definitely ride softer. Haven't driven in a heavy rain to see wet traction/hydroplane.

Interesting, I did receive a card today from HMA but mine had a $50 gift card in it!

OP any idea if you can keep the old tires and the new set?? That would be bestest !

Dealers are required to drill holes in the sidewalls.

You are getting something for nothing!!!!!

You say that the Contis cure the flat spotting. Can you expand on this? I believe that this is the first post that I have seen where it is stated that new tires clearly solve this problem. Thanks.

Just picked up a '15 3.8 with Hankooks.

I can definitely feel the flat spot vibration and it does get better after a few miles.

I have a 3yr 45k mile lease.

If I drive on the Hankooks for say 10-15k miles and then see the dealer to have them switched, will they still do that a year from now?

I want to make sure that i don't have to buy tires before my lease is up.

As I pointed out in my earlier post, I feel there is a strong likelihood that what you feel is not related to tire flat spots. I believe it is a problem with the running gear or chassis. I have been following multiple threads on this forum for months and still can't find anyone who has clearly solved the problem by tire replacement. But I am still holding out hope . . . .

From what I've read on this website, the Tire Swap is valid through 2016 and maybe into 2017. Hang onto those Hankooks!

I have a letter stating any time within 3 years.
