  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Recall/Free Tire Replacement???

Even bigger slap in the face... If true... They cut the speed to 130? Again, knock it off.... Do not insult someone who makes good points for their situation, just because you could care less.. Then you have to show up like a Bavarian bully...

well, i'm part german so it's baked in! :D

metromen, red blooded corlorful men...huh??? i get the part about layoff the guy, but the rest of that post is very odd!

It appears those that are bold... Guys like Stag who brings up the points, myself and my points, others and their points, seem to have one thing in common... None are metromen. Appear more like traditional level testosterone, and ok with that... As one example, they take notice when a company decides after the fact to change what the car will do (ie top speed).. To me, the swarming verbal attacks on a vibrant viewpoint, is not wanted or needed.. And in kind response might be brought back.. Funny thing is, the metros tend to not like their own tone and attack brought back home to roost...

I just assumed that the nylon was a design feature for Canadians who, according to South Park cartoons, are accustomed to driving around with square wheels.

I have had two Hyundai car dealers tell me you have up to 3 years to take the offer. My car 5.0 on a fairly smooth road is fairly quite but on a road with gravel/asphalt it is very noisy have to turn radio up to 22 to hear.

If you researched Cont tires they just started making the tire for this recall that fits the car so don't compare tires that are not the same to other Cont tires. So I don't know if these tires they have never made before are going to be any better or not. These two brands are not the greatest. The V6 engine get good tires made by Michelin and we pay more for the 5.0 V8 and get worse tires by brand anyway.

My understanding is that the low profile 19 inch conti's were made "specially" for the 5.0 V8 crowd, which I believe is what you're saying.

All I can say as far as "better" is that the Conti's are quieter and smoother riding than the orig. Hankooks. And at least on the 5.0 vehicles, they didn't mess with the computer - a big, big plus in my opinion - although I wasn't really planning to push the car to 170 mph.

Lastly, as far as greatest brands, it's been my experience over many decades of buying new cars is that all OEM tires are crap, without exception, regardless of brand. Treadlife is usually a joke. Tread separation has been another problem, along with "out-of-round" tires, and tires that are near impossible to balance.

Have a nice day.

I have 3k on my Genesis and 2 weeks ago I had the tire swap done.

It still rode like an Army Jeep!!

Last week I purchased a set of 17" wheels and installed 225X60X17 tires on them and the ride is greatly improved.

I am too old to want cool looking wagon wheels on a luxury car.

I paid big money for a car that should have a good ride, not so with the rubber band tires some idiot engineer thinks they look cool.

Hyundai should make two versions of the Genesis, one that rides like crap that they have and one that rides like a luxury car.

You're not too old, but you're one year older than me.

How many "mods" you got?

Have you "paired" your smartphone with the car?

And, I'm sure you mastered all the little "nav" options. I, of course, am too
macho to even need the nav stuff.

Shoulda got the 5.0 V8 - goes 170 mph - so they say - plenty of places in West Texas for that kind of action.

imo, what that guy was doing was more akin to whining...but i digress. he should call hyundai care and ask them for a set of V or W rated mxm4s for his car. they may well do it! my dad had a rock take out the a/c condensor on his '09 genesis...and after some sweet talking hyundai agreed to fix it free of charge! squeaky wheel sometimes gets the grease! :D

Agree.... Might work...

Got my new tires on Saturday, not Friday when my apt was scheduled. Dealership needed to order the tires and forgot or just didn't do it. Installed on Saturday. I must say they are a tad noisier on bad roads. On good roads they seem to be as quiet at the Hankooks. Overall performance of the tire seems to be good. Car seems to track a bit better, although the ride and comfort seems to be compromised. Seems to be a stiffer tire than before. Oh well. Got new tires for free. I guess I cant complain to much.... LOL

All of which makes the entire reasoning given for the change confounding at best.

Don't remember if this was previously asked, if it was, sorry.

If you take the trade in on the tires, can you keep the original Hancocks?

Thnaks

It was asked, and the message I saw on here was that the Hyundai technicians are instructed to render the Hankooks unusable.

Did you check the tire pressures, especially compared to what the old tires were inflated to?

Has anyone asked their dealer if they could upgrade to a different tire and just pay the difference? Michelin Pilot Super Sport(Max Performance Summer) comes to mind for $1432 per set on Tire Rack.

Hyundai explicitly told the dealers to destroy the tires by drilling two holes into the sidewall of each tire and document it all with pictures. Then send of all the proof to Hyundai.
