  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Rigid Collars installation

Kraig - thank you for the reply. I have a 2013 5.0 so it's different but am doing the same process as you. I'm on the last bolt and it's being super stubborn.
Your welcome. Dont force it and foul up the threads! The is the absolute last thing you want do. I put a little anti seize on threads as well. Lubricating the thread allows the nut/ bolt to tighten up better with less force.👍Good luck.

Thanks for the help. I unfortunately tried to force one of the bolts back in, knowing damn well I shouldn't have, and crossthreaded the bolt. I retapped the threads on the unibody and am going to finish it up later today.

Hi Guys:
I am somewhat intrigued by these "Uniq Collars" and how they seem to bring the "Step-back-in-her-pep"..lol!! But, I'm wondering if I or any other 1st Gen Owners took an afternoon and jack-up the Car and check all the major bolts holding the Sub-frames onto the "Body structure" and re-torqued all these points. I think one might even notice an improvement in the handling of the Car; pending the Car has no other major suspension, linkages, ball-joints...etc, parts of the Car that are worn out! It would be interesting to compare the install of these "Uniq Collars" and/or only performing the above mentioned maintenance on the Genesis!!

I did this mod about a year ago. At that time none of the bolts were under torqued. There is a better feel to the car with these collers installed. Retorqe-ing the bolts would not make any difference imo.

Which part of the manual have the torques specs for the rear sub-frame?

How much did your mechanic charge for this? Took it in and asked and was quoted $1100 to put these on... Seems real high
