  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

RWD vs AWD

I wonder if there is a way (easy, not too expensive) to add it to the RWD models.
Steering wheel, wiring harness, switch, labor. I bet it is at least half the cost of getting AWD. If I was in Chicago I'd want AWD anyway.

I think there are quite a few options on the Canadian 2.0t sport that the American sport doesn't get if I'm not mistaken. The Canadian version is basically a fully loaded 3.3 sport I believe less the engine, no adjustable dampers, and things associated with the automatic (remote start, adaptive cruise, power parking brake, etc.). Everything else is included making it the best bang for your buck here. IMO

^ correct. it's a shame the US market didn't get the same 2.0T Sport spec as did CAD. it looks identical to the 3.3T Sport inside and out as you mention, but of course lacks the 3.3T, 8AT, and some of the driving aids. also, no vented front seats.

Not quite. The 2.0T Sport certainly looks like its big-engine sibling, but it's missing more than just the dampers. It doesn't have factory navigation, ventilated seats, heated rear seats, wireless charging, front parking sensors, multi-view camera system, etc. A better way of looking at it is it's a base G70 with all the stuff you'd want as an enthusiast added - Sport appearance inside/out, Brembo, LSD, HUD, premium audio, and a few other little niceties (IMS, rain-sensing wipers, rear sensors, etc.).

So, I am in the process of registering my car and I noticed this on the Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin...

18743

...in case we didn't already know, now we have confirmed that the 3.3 AWD Sport G70 weighs 3913lbs.

I wonder exactly how much the RWD 3.3 Sport weighs..? I want to see just how much lighter it really is. Anyway, just some food for thought.

Canadian spec:
3.3TT Sport is 4,004lbs
3.3TT Dynamic is 3,913lbs
6MT 2.0T Sport is 3,688lbs
2.0T Prestige is 3,865lbs
2.0T Advanced is 3,673lbs

Elite is somewhere in between Advanced and Prestige. All Canadian models are 8AT except the 2.0T Sport.
All numbers from brochure.
Weight is with all necessary fluids. Not sure how much fuel though!

Hmmm... I can't imagine the cars would be shipped dry, as they have to drive them aboard the boat and onto the port.. If those brochure specs are correct, I wonder what is adding nearly 100lbs to the 3.3 Canadian sport? As that and mine are AWD...

For those that have AWD, how do you like it and how do the ride characteristics compare to the RWD version of the car?
I’ve had both. RWD with limited slip on a 2012 4.6 and presently a 2017 G80 AWD .
I prefer the AWD . Easier navigating my driveway when snow or ice in the ground.

I'm happy with my AWD purchase. I acknowledge the trade-offs of weight and maintenance and reduced MPG but the car feels more planted, even when I perform some yaw-inducing move that would normally send the tail sideways a la Mustang, the AWD just pulls right through.

RWD here. With Pilot 4Ses I've had zero issues in the rain, these tires are amazing. I do wish they ran a square tire setup on the sport version of these cars, but I have the 2.0T so it doesn't exactly overwhelm the rear end as the 3.3 would. I run winter tires when it gets cold out (225s all around). I honestly prefer RWD in the snow w/winter tires, plus AWD isn't going to help you stop.

While I read a couple reviews that preferred RWD I'll quote one legacy media review (R&T); "...the all-wheel-drive version is not our first choice. The rear-wheel-drive car, equipped with an electronic limited-slip differential, is nimbler, turning in more eagerly, despite considerable howl from the front tires". Here is the full article; 2019 Genesis G70: The Road & Track Test

I'd actually like to test drive the two back to back but RWD is not available in my neck of the woods. I'd have to travel South, I think Virginia or WV has them available. Personally RWD is what I'd go for; in part because I'm partial to the bright 10 spoke rims. Then put the saved $2K towards a dedicated set of rims/snow tires for Winter driving.
I’ve had both the 2012 4.6 with RWD.
I now own a 2017 G80 with AWD.
Hands down AWD is superior!

Extremely late to this thread, but for what it’s worth my 3.3 RWD Sport G70 weighs 3774 lbs per the vehicle registration.
