In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Thanks guys! I've been on a mission to find lowering springs ever since I got the car in March. The lack of aftermarket support was starting to get frustrating. I'm not a fan of getting aftermarket wheels without losing the wheel gap so I was almost starting to regret my decision to buy this car. I'm so glad I stayed patient lol.

Ride quality is a liiiittle bit stiffer. However, I can't tell if that's because of the smaller sidewall of a 35 series tire vs the stock 45 or if it's because the car is lowered on springs with a more aggressive spring rate. I'm sure it's a combination of both. The wife still feels that it's a very plush ride and that the change in ride quality was not significant. It has the wife's approval!

You have to purchase the springs and then get them installed at a reputable shop. I happen to live somewhat near ARK Performance so they approached me to be a tester for their springs, so I got lucky. However, there's a user here named Huddleston who got Storm Springs installed on his car. If you haven't seen his car yet, I suggest you look him up as he has got one beautiful car. I believe the springs he got lowered it the same amount. Here's a link to his thread: http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=17000&highlight=huddleston

I decided to not get a staggered setup because I like to rotate my tires and get the most life out of them. But if buying tires more frequently doesn't really phase you, I'd suggest a staggered setup because they make rear wheel drive cars look super aggressive.

Appreciate the response. See the wheels are TSW, never heard of them, how do they compare to something like Vossen or Niche? They look great! Also which tires did you end up going with? In regards to the springs, are there certain springs I should go for or can I walk into a reputable shop and ask them to lower it 1.2". Sorry for all the questions, you literally have the same setup I am gearing up to purchase. Thank you!

No worries about the questions! I chose TSW because their rotary forged wheels are comparably priced with other manufacturer's cast wheels. Check this link out http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121777 for an explanation of cast vs rotary forged vs forged and all that. I believe Vossen and Niche have lines of forged wheels but for considerably more money. There is nothing wrong with cast wheels, but I have to drive in Los Angeles and the roads here are not known to be smooth and well maintained so I needed a stronger wheel.

For tires, I went with Falken Azenis PT722 in a 255/35/20 size. My wheels are 20x9 +30 all the way around. I went square vs staggered to save money on having to frequently replace tires.

As for springs, unfortunately, there aren't too many options. The Genesis sedan doesn't seem to be on many tuner's radars and doesn't get much love. If you have a G1 go here: http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=15629. If you have a G2 go here: http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=16655. That link is for the Storm Springs, which unfortunately are your only option at this time. I have springs from ARK Performance. However, I am a test car and will be getting different springs installed periodically until they get a ride height and spring rate they are happy with. Supposedly their final product will not be available for purchase until mid next year. I'll be keeping you guys updated whenever my springs get switched out. If you can wait until mid next year, there will be a total of 2 lowering options lol. If you want my honest opinion, truthfully I wish I went with Storm Springs. They are a well known company in Korea and are backed with a 5 year warranty and have already been tested and are already available for purchase by the public now. Additionally, looking at pictures of Huddleston's car it also looks like they lower the car more, making the wheels flush with the fender for no gap. I've got a 2 finger gap all the way around.

Rloyal, awesome info! Thanks for sharing!! Hopefully ARK can get another V8 test vehicle that's an Ultimate. After seeing Huddleston's car in person, it's kinda made me want springs as well, but I'd like a tad more clearance up front, and I'd want to make sure that the springs worked well with the variable dampening system. So kindly mention this to the ARK folks the next time you speak with them!

This looks awesome! Completely new to lowering cars, how do you go about that as in do you purchase springs and then have them installed? Any effect on warranty? Also the wheels look great, are they staggered?

Looks good - now you need to add the OEM LED foglights upfront to get rid of the ugly filler pieces :)

Yes! I've been lurking in that thread to see what my options are. I'm wondering if I can install them without the stalk change and have them just be always on

You can - others have done that!

You're awesome man thanks for the info!! Actually prefer your look with the small gap there but I guess storm is my only option at this time which is unfortunate, but the warranty does sound beneficial. Would you prefer yours lower? Also as for the color of those wheels, I was looking for black to go on my white Genesis but it looks like they don't make black. Are those more grey or more black, hard to tell. Thanks for all your help and explaining your car to us all on here, I appreciate that.

I do prefer to be lower, but that's only because I have a weird personal preference to have no gap when running aftermarket wheels. It's not a preference I can justify beyond I just like it better lol. As for the color of the wheels, I think they are more gray than black. They are officially called gloss gunmetal gray. I like that they are more gray than black because with black I feel the wheel face gets lost. Again, another personal preference of mine. I figured if I'm gonna buy wheels and spend hours deciding on a design, I might as well choose a color that can be seen. Then again if that's the case, why didn't I go with standard silver? Told you, I have weird preferences that I really can't justify. Go figure.

I just spoke with my dude at ARK Performance too. He told me that in about two weeks they should be getting a shipment from Korea that most likely will have another set of springs in it. He wasn't sure what the changes would be. I'll keep you guys posted.

Playing with some filters on a pic I took last winter.

Very nice, head turner......what appears to be white and chrome on the wheels makes the difference.

First 2016 I have seen, congrats! What do the the new DRL look like? Are they just white, or is the led strip the daytime running light now?

Thanks!

I honestly haven't noticed about the DRL. I'll try to snap some pics when I leave the office with the car running.
