If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Speaker cover in the trunk

Re: Speaker cover in the trunk (Canada)

FYI for Canadian owners: I purchased the part ($230 + tax!!!!!!) and installed it myself - it was a snap (pardon the pun). It really does finish off the trunk nicely.

I am in discussions with Hyundai Canada about some rebate, but I'm not holding my breath.

Here in Canada we have no "Team Genesis" supporting the product, and IMHO the corporate support is less than in the US.

There is a customer service link on HyundaiCanada.com, so maybe they will listen if enough of us complain about the lack of corporate support and lack of dealer communication such as the excellent work we see here from the likes of Ed Voyle Hyundai.

regards,
cmr

I just got my part installed yesterday and it finishes off the trunk nice. I was also able to get Team Genesis to allow for a full rebate (minus tax) on the part - Thanks cdango!. They would have covered the installation also but the Dealer did the install at no charge since it was quick to do. I 'll post a copy of the reimbursement form when I get it on Monday. Here are before and after shots below.

Received the reimbursement form today. I will be using this to cover the cost of the speaker cover.

See the attached file - you may find it useful.

After reading this thread, I spoke with my dealer and mentioned that some people had been receiving reimbursements for the addition of this part to their V6s. After a couple of phone calls they decided to buy and install the part at not cost to me!

Thanks to the information in this thread, I now will have a complete and finished trunk!

Does that apply to all V6 models, including base model?

I'm not sure that it "applies". As my signature states, I have the premium plus Genesis. When I spoke to the dealer they made a couple of phone calls but they then told me they were "buying it for me". It sounded as if this was their decision, not necessarily a Hyundai decision. I'm not sure, then, who is going to pay for the part. I'll ask them when I go in to have it installed. It's worth asking you dealer, certainly, but I'm not sure this is an across-the-board policy change yet.

I know for a fact that it is a Hyundai decision for the Tech package, but I am not sure which other models it applies to. I suspect that it applies to Premium and Premium Plus also and your dealer just wants you to think they are doing it out the goodness of their hearts.

The motto of cars sales is: its not the deal that the customer gets, its the deal they think they got that matters. If the customer thinks they got a good deal, they will be happy.

I was on vacation for a couple weeks and when I got back I had the check from Hyundai in with my mail. BTW even though the form stated they were going to reimburse me for the part amount only, the check I received was for the total amount of the invoice I had sent them including tax.
From what I'm reading and hearing it appears that Hyundai is being very cooperative with issuing refunds so good luck to all that apply for a refund.

I had the trunk trim piece put on my V6 Premium Plus today at no charge. It certainly completes the trunk.

I'm glad that Hyundai is making this change for owners at no charge!

Very interesting how many cars came without the cover! I just purchased a V8 Premium Genesis about a month ago, and it had the cover already in place. I am from Alberta, Canada

Beyond a certain date, the covers came installed. Not sure if that was by the factory or by HMA.

Just went to my dealer today. They knew nothing of this cover, called Gen. Team while at dealer, they said they would pay of cover and dealer ordered it.
Dealer said part was in stock and should be here in a day or two. I'll update when it arrives.

Is Hyundai paying the dealer direct? That would be interesting if they did.
If not, I posted the reimbursement form earlier on this thread. It took about 3 weeks once I submitted the request for the check to arrive.

That's because it's a V8.

I looked at the trunks of the two cars at the Toronto auto show. The V6 (November build date, IIRC) had no trunk cover. The V8 did.

At least for Canadian cars, it looks to me like they're STILL not installing them on the factory on the V6 cars.

Have any Canadian V6 owners had any luck getting the trunk covers? I really think my dad needs one...

Yes, but I had to pay for it ($239 plus tax = $270.32 including Ontario PST/GST).

I installed it myself (literally, 3 minutes.)

YIKES! That's an awful lot of money, is it make of solid Titanium or something? How is it that owners in the USA are getting them free upon request and you had to pay so much?

Hyundai Canada are useless as t!ts on a fish.

No such thing as Regional reps and corporate customer service were dismissive and defensive.

I suppose when you get a $70k car for under $40k, something has to give.

Had the speaker cover installed. After the dealer talked to Genesis Team they decided that I would pay for service and be reimbersed. No clain form to fill out, just fax service invoice to Gen. Team rep. and they would process. Dealer charged for part and 30 min. labor. Also did "T" computer upgrade at same time.
I'm well satisfied with handleing and amount charged, I'll update after receiving check.
By the way, the trunk looks GREAT very finished! Also Gen. Team member said they are paying for this upgrade for anybody that asks as it should have been inc. from start. Applogized for their mistake in not installing it from start.

I took my 3.8 Titanium Gray Tech Pack in today for repair of the malfunctioning power driver's seat. I asked to have the speaker cover installed. I received a call back from the service agent with a message that the cover would be installed at no charge at the direction of the district manager. woohoo....

Also for those who have posted notes regarding levels of service, I just want to say that my experiences at Classic Hyundai in Round Rock, TX have been excellent. Since I was leaving my Gene for repairs, they offered a loaner - a brand new Santa Fe (only 22 miles on it).

After reading about the speaker cover issue in this forum I called Hyundai customer service (800) 633-5151 got a case number and was told to pay the dealer and submit the bill for reimbursement to Hyundai. I ordered the part and when it came in I asked the dealer what it would cost to install and when he found out I had a case number he said he would install and seek reimbursement for the part himself - no charge to me. I don't know how other dealers would handle it but for me it was worth the call to Hyundai to avoid the hassle of having to pay upfront and then submit the paperwork and wait for reimbursement. I even got a call back from Hyundai asking how everything turned out.
