  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

SPYSHOTS: The next generation of the Genesis G80 is here

Do some of you think that Genesis later down the line should offer an Inline 6 Cylinder Engine instead of a V6??

I like my 3.8 V6. Good power 311HP & decent fuel economy on regular gas.
No complaints.

The Korean Car Blog just uploaded a post which shows an artists interpretation of the G80’s interior. Within the article they claim the G80 is scheduled to be revealed at the New York Auto Show.

30MPG on highway, smooth sailing and quite a lunge forward when needed. Throttle sound is sweet too. Love it.

Not impressed.
I would rather hold judgement to when they show off the car and have official pictures posted. I really really don’t like renders.

In line means a longer hood, not something Genesis plans on doing since they want to reduce weight.

It’s comforting to know that the Korean Car Blog claims it is scheduled to be revealed at the New York Auto Show. Perhaps they have information we don’t?

But it looks like the hood is longer in the spyshots and all articles of the G80 claim the hood is longer? A longer hood is actually desirable and even essential for a large, luxury sedan.

True but the smoothness of an Inline Six compared to a V6 format really is something Genesis should look at.

I have one now and it is amazing how smooth and powerful it is. I guess having the correct transmission also plays into that. The engine feel and sound definitely adds to the luxury experience. (y)

Btw I’ve been meaning to congratulate you on the X5!!

Thanks, I appreciate that. I'm really enjoying it and look for any excuse to drive someplace. Last Saturday when we were picking up our grandson my wife said "I love this car." I have never heard her say that about a car in the 36+ years we have been together. She loves the massage seats. ;)

Very nice that always a nice feature to have especially in an SUV. I’m not an SUV person but when I drove the 19’ X5 my mind changed a lot about SUV’s. I am extremely glad you are enjoying as well as your wife is.

All for it if Genesis goes for it. Heck, anyone remember the hood on Lincolns and Caddys from the 70's? Talk about elbow grease to wax those. Went to a classic car show/auction in Atlantic City in February and can't believe how long those cars were.

They called them boats but should have called them ships given their size. ;)

Stated that Hyundai should seriously consider that, esp. if the new 2.5L is all that.

Would also lower production costs.

W/ regard to the 3G (Sonata) platform, we now have a code name - the N3.

I guess we'll see soon enough if forthcoming articles for the next G80 and the GV80 refer to their platform as the N3.

Here's MT's take on an early (P1) Sonata prototype w/ the 2.5L (will give some indication about the 2.5T that the next G80 will get).

During a brief lunch meeting, Hyundai's head engineer, Albert Biermann, quickly reviewed the technical features of the all-new base engine, the 2.5 GDI Smartstream. This new Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine comes with direct and multi-port fuel injection, continuously variable valve timing, an integrated exhaust header, as well as thermally optimized exhaust gas recirculation and engine block and cylinder head cooling systems. Clearly Hyundai is prioritizing efficiency and emissions over pure performance. Biermann confirmed as much when said, "Ja, the 2.5 is a cruiser, for sure. "

One lap each as passenger and driver around Namyang R&D's 2.5-mile high speed oval test track provided all the confirmation we needed. With a claimed 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque, the 2.5 GDI Sonata can merge onto a busy test track without fear or anxiety. There is no neck-snapping acceleration on tap but the cabin is quite and calm; secure even, when you engage some of the advanced driver-assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control.
