  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Stalk/foglights v6 replacement

Looks like the joke is on '15 owners.... as the 16 comes with fog lights on the 3.8 Signature.

One could also say the jokes on those who missed driving one for a year waiting...

I doubt any 2015 buyers were not suspecting LED fogs would be coming and made their decisions based on that.

All that being said...

The fog lights are easy to add - the joke on the 15 owners is the LED DRL's for those that don't like the amber incandescent DRL's. That does not appear to be easy to add - but we'll see.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Am I the only one that dislike those led DRL?

Probably. In my hunting around the posts - it looks like everyone hates the orangey incandescents that come on the 15. After having LED halos and brows come stock on my 11 Azera - I have to say I prefer the LED. It is also the core reason I upgraded my headlights to HID from halogen - as mixing color temps & types really do not compliment each other well.

Huffines Plano. I would talk to their Service Manager, PJ, first.

If you are handy, the front bumper cover is not difficult to remove and that makes putting in the foglights and harness a breeze. In my case, I had some front road FOD that was being repaired which required the bumper cover to be taken off for repainting. I had them mount my foglights at that time as part of the deal since they had to remove the dummies for painting anyway. I wish the harness had been available when my car got it's "nose job".

What trim level do yo have? They quoted me $450+ in labor (to be honest I kind of tuned out at that point) to replace the front harness, which probably includes pulling the bumper cover. If I didn't have the foglights mounted, it might have been more attractive. Given that it will just be the four wires, I will see what a local garage will charge to pull the bottom cover, make the connections and zip tie the harness to the bumper cover without having to pull the bumper cover. Given my back, my days of crawling under cars are over.

I want to do this but am somewhat confused by a few things. At the beginning of the thread we have two members say don't even try to remove the steering wheel. One says at least not without the service manual, second says has worked on steering wheels and this one is too difficult ( I am paraphrasing) don't try. The op does it and says no problem. The two that said don't do it have not posted back.
Second I still can't follow the harness directions. What I am hoping is that the harness that is already installed in our cars has the plug for the lights and they just need to be connected. I apologize to the op but I just can't follow what he or she is saying about the harness.
Finally does any of this work have implications regarding the warranty? Especially the change to the steering wheel. I can see an ugly legal battle following an accident were the airbag malfunctions.

Can you wire up the fog lights to just run when the ignition is on, and not change out the stalk?

If you buy the foglights from a vendor that includes the connectors to power the lights, I would just splice into the orange and black wire at the connector on the driver's side just in front of the wheel well looking from the underside. You can then just zip tie to the existing harness in front to secure it. There have been polarity issues reported with the wiring harness on sale on Ebay with the parking sensors.

In my case, the vendor did not supply the foglight power connectors and I do not have any harness in front to which I can secure.

The replacement multi-function switch is a Hyundai part and my dealer charged me $130 to install it. That way I'm assured it was done properly. There shouldn't be any warranty issues going that route.

See my prior post. The connector is located just in front of the wheel well looking from the underside. You will have to remove the bottom access panel which you will have to do anyway to install the foglights.

Thanks, I think I found the plug but I was confused when the op was talking about putting pins in and using a new harness. So it sounds like it is pretty much plug and play except for the stalk. I already talked to the dealer's service manager about doing it. He didn't seem too enthusiastic. Thanks again.

That's too bad. Do you have another Hyundai or Kia dealer in the area that you could ask? DFW has a lot of competition so it isn't an issue here. You're the customer, ask what the rate book quotes to change the part and does he want your business ... ever.

You need the hardness and the stalk the links are in the beginning of thread. The hardness purchase from eBay had the wires reversed and the sensors weren't working, but is easy to fix. Reorder the pins and your good to go. Hope you understand. Here's a few pictures . Match the wires to the factory connectors

Actually the service at the dealership has been the best I have experienced. I have been buying cars for 40 years and this dealership has given me outstanding service. I have purchased 8 Hyundai's from them so I have come to know some of the mechanics and service managers. I think he was reluctant to do this because the car does not come with that stalk. I don't know how much grief he would get from Hyundai if they found out this was being done.
I am going to talk to him again and see if he is a little more willing.

Stupid question, does anyone know if the stalks for the lights and wipers light up in the dark? Mine don't, is that normal?

It's normal - they don't light up.

Subscribing. Interested in installing fog lights without the stalk. I want them to be on every time the car is on

Just added the fog lights and stalk to my 2015 3.8 Ultimate AWD.

Was a fairly straight forward process.

No special tool was needed to remove the steering wheel, and was a very simple process. I used an impact wrench to remove the lock bolt, might be tricky to remove with a socket wrench.

I didn't get the wire harness, so I just tapped the orange and black wires that run into the plug. I will probably get a 4 wire male/female plug to make the connection more weather proof and easier to remove if the bumper needs to come off.
