  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Sunroof Rattle

That added grease won't help from what others on here has stated. As Nikgen noted above, it was for the older Genesis.

Does anyone agree there should not be a 38 page thread on what work arounds we can find to a 50k car problem? I just got mine still new, 25 total miles. Within 200 miles, i have this exact problem, creaking and rattles. I am fighting with the dealership about this right now. Please tell me someone can think of something else to do. I have filed with the BBB and am talking with hyundai, not the dealership. They are selling these cars knowing this is going to develop. I really want to go further with this issue. I like this car so much, aside from this crap. I really don't want to pursue returning the car, but I'm not paying this much for a creaky ass car. Has anyone talked with an attorney?

Well - this thread is only 20 pages, not 38. If you scroll back to the last couple of pages you will see a post I made with BRIGHT RED TEXT IN IT.

This was done to GET YOUR ATTENTION.

You might want to read that post. It is also a known issue - so if your dealer is giving you shit about it - tell them you want a case opened with HMA. They have been replacing them under warranty with no problem...

Your post quoted above shows up as being on page 39 on my computer. Perhaps as a supporting member you have an option in your settings to increase the number of posts displayed on a page.

And, yes you did make a post on page 37 on my computer, about finding out that the part number for the part to solve the problem had changed, and I'm sure a lot of us appreciate knowing that. I'm also sure a lot of us would appreciate knowing what the new part number is, if you know, so we may have an opportunity to educate our dealer's service managers.

Thanks

They did not give me that information. They did say that when they went to order it under the old PN once the warranty replacement was approved by HNA that the system advised them of the updated part number.

lol Bro why you so angry? Kind of a strong reaction. Anyways, I already have a case open with HMA, who has sent two levels of reps to look at the car, and now they are sending a Hyundai engineer. They have already told me it is a known issue with most likely no fix. I have already talked with the dealer and Hyundai extensively. I drove a loaner for 3 weeks, another genesis, which started the same noises. I have a case with the BBB open already. I am not just starting this journey. I am not sure where you are getting 20 pages, take a peak at my attachment. You may find the number 39 on there. :D

Part numbers of what they replaced should be on your service record/receipt, no?

hell, i'm going to the dealer tomorrow for the never ending vibration, to have a door speaker replaced..May as well throw this sunroof thing in the mix and see what shakes out

My roof / car does not have the constant rattle discussed in the thread - with the video/sound, but rather a sporadic creak usually over bumps and not necessarily big ones. Definitely more of a creak creak than a rattle - any info on this issue?

I have the same creaks but usually when it's cold. I have been taking one issue at a time. For now I will concentrate on getting that damn check engine light to stay off.

The creaks is coming from the glass. When is nice and warm and when the sun shines on it for period of time not a sound. I'll put my money and say the glass is cheap. Super annoying

Well after reading all the posts on this (the photos and videos helped) - looks like the sun/moon roof creaks only when it is in the tilt position, it's a deep creak / short rattle sound that I thought was suspension (only audible over bumps and rough road at slow speed)....I suspect warranty will solve the issue as per the dealer's word. FYI warm or cool/wet weather made no difference.

Odd when I tilt the sunroof it goes a way mine sounds like stretching/bending glass kind of like hitting rain drops similar sound, goes always when it sits on the sun

BTW I had another creaking sound coming from the passenger seatbelt

I have very very little (what I / you describe) true glass creak (brittle sound) when its all buttoned up closed or completely opened. Just a clear panel type clunk/creak. The glass panel does move when I pull on it when it is open but makes no noise or at least I can't duplicate the noise. It is just when it's tilted and is noticeable when breaking and accelerating some bumps do it some don't. Driveway entrances seem to cause it the most and speed bumps.

Is there now a TSB on the roof on the 2015 G's?

Check to see if the seal on the outside of the panoramic sunroof (the seal between the two panels of glass) has started to separate from the glass). My creak got progressively worse and someone mentioned to me to check that. Mine was separated. I took it to the dealer and showed them that (which obviously should not be like that) and they received authorization for a replacement of the full sunroof assembly. Took about three days for them to get the part and replace, but that was back in February. Still no creaks since the replacement. My creaking noise was really bad by the time I had them replace it (could hear the creaking even with the sun shade fully closed). I've read where people first tried to just replace the seal only, and that only lasted a day or two before it separated again.

I can hear a mild rattle in the sunroof when going over bumps. Going to take it into the dealer. Anyone else notice this? I can only hear it when the head liner is open.

Yeah I've got it too - headed to dealer today. I've noticed it's only audible when the sun roof is full tilt - if I close it a bit it goes away. Over the 8 months I had the car it has gotten looser and looser.

Took it in a couple days ago - chief complaint rattling tilted sun roof - dealer called today - full roof assembly replacement - estimate 2 days to get it back. Easy peasy.

Could you give me the name of the dealer you used? I would like to point my dumbass dealer to a dealer who has fixed this? Thanks!!
