  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The GV70 Trailer Hitch Discussion

This is the Australian version - it locks with a small key (red knob) and is released with the larger knurled knob - just drops right out. Retention is via spring loaded retention lever (not visible) and the ball bearings that pop out (with some force). When removed there are no visible parts - the car looks pristine! Fittement was by Genesis Sydney. It's a solid unit and really does the job. Design is load certified as per the label. Best of luck!
Is there any way to make this setup work with a bike rack? In the US, the popular 2" box receiver is required and I do not see how this could work.

I, and I suspect many others, are looking at hitches to carry a bike rack. I do not anticipate towing anything, but I love my Kuat Bike rack and would never return to a roof rack.

As I posted in an earlier post I bought a Thule bike rack that mounts on the ball for my e bikes. It’s rated to carry two 30 kg bikes. Thule make both ball mounted bike racks and hitch mounted. If you can’t get a ball mounted rack in the States the Australian style hitch won’t work.

Like you I won’t be towing with my GV70, I have another car for that. The towing pack was installed just for the bike rack.

Hi,
Either use an adaptor that replaces the tow ball with a standard hitch fitting (tow ball to hitch converter) or use a rack that clamps on the tow ball itself - which is what did (a Thule folding rack)
Cheers

Wanted to bump this thread as it has some great info, and add in some information I've gathered.
Currently on the market there appear to be three options specific to the vehicle:

Reese @ ~$300
DrawTite @ ~$350-400
Genesis OEM @ ~$600

The Reese and DrawTite units appear to be nearly 1:1 clones of each other, and they may even be made by the same manufacturer and white labeled like many car parts.

There are better options. They're just on the Korean market. A company called CubeRack, which produces parts domestically in Korea, has a GV70 tow bar with a 1500kg tow, 110kg tongue rating. It's designed in three parts, a main tow bar with a 2" hitch that drops down, and two L brackets. The L brackets bolt to the sides of the car where the factory bars go, and provide new sturdy bolt holes on the rear face of the vehicles frame where the bar can be placed behind the bumper completely hidden:

The L brackets mounted, rear of car and main tow bar are on the left of the picture. This is taken looking at the passenger rear corner.
This provides 2 of the 3(?) mount points -- for a total of 6.

Here's a blog where they show a few pictures of installation:

This person has a carbon rear diffuser installed, so it's not the cleanest pic but here's the obtrusion from the rear:

It would be nearly invisible once installed and the hitch was removed. A company like Stealth Hitches would generally take it a step further even and make the drop down removable.

This product is available on a few Korean websites, like Naver, in-stock, for $448 USD equivalent
I'm not sure if this is something that could be imported as a small group buy, or if someone could provide guidance on proxy purchasing units. I've forwarded a lot of this information to Steve at Stealth Hitches in hopes they'll reconsider manufacturing and designing one, but I'm unsure if I'll receive any kind of answer, positive or negative.

Just did a lot of research on this and wanted to dump it here on the group for posterity. Maybe someone with logistics experience in purchasing KDM parts might chime in.

Finally, a Hitch I would buy if I could.

This is response from Stealth:

Thank you for your interest in Stealth Hitches.
Currently, we do not manufacture a hitch for the Genesis GV70. Our team attempted to develop one on the gas version but were unsuccessful. There were interference issues preventing our hitch design from fitting. We might release a hitch for the all-electric version of the GV70 but that is still undecided.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thank you,

I just had my tow hitch removed from my GV70. I don't have a foreseeable need for it in my life and have never needed or wanted to tow anything with my personal vehicle. Hopefully I'll find someone local in my area who's interested or in need of one.
You by chance wouldn’t still have that hitch available?

California… need the hitch for a bike rack

I don’t know why you guys in the States have such an ugly hitch. In my eyes it ruins a good looking rear end. I just had a tow hitch installed on my GV70. In Australia the tow hitch has a removable ball mount. When unlocked it drops down and out of the receptor and you can’t see anything. The good looking rear end is not ruined. It wasn’t cheap at AU$2700 installed but well worth it to preserve the look.

I had the hitch installed to mount a bike carrier for our two e bikes. Most of the time the ball mount will be sitting on a shelf in the shed. You might want to ask Genesis why you can’t have the same type of hitch. Perhaps it’s something to do with local regulations or perhaps it’s just cost savings.

Where in Australia did you find the tow hitch?

They come directly from Genesis, it appears to be made by Westfalia but they deny all knowledge and don’t sell direct.

Not sure the answer but if you live in Dallas area and interested in just the hitch without the wiring harness, let me know as I have that part available. It was removed from dealership once car arrived as I don’t need. Thanks
I just bought a 2025 gv70 and need a hitch. Saw this post was from a few years ago but thought I would see if you still have it. I'm in Dallas every other weekend.

Just had the Australian/European tow hitch fitted and no scaffolding hanging under the car.
Do you have a part number for this hitch?

I sold my pickup truck a few years ago and now wife and I have a couple of SUV's. I bought a small utility trailer, about 5X8 and it is just so convenient for so many tasks like picking up garden/yard supplies etc. I won't buy vehicles without a hitch. It's bad enough that the hitch is $900 CAD but the real insult is that you also have to buy wiring!! Who pulls a trailer without lights ? Do better Genesis.

Hi there. My new 2025 GV70 that was bought not even 2 weeks ago came with the tow hitch installed and it wasn't supposed to. I had the dealership take it off the day after we bought the vehicle. They let us keep it along with the bolts that were removed. The parts are sitting on a large slab of cardboard in our house.

Happy to sell it to you and ship it for a fair price. I can provide photos of it as well. Let me know and we can discuss privately. My wife and I have no use for it.

Thanks!

Where are you located? I really don't care for the way the factory hitch looks so I would be putting it on as needed. I am trying to locate an Australian or Canadian model. They are much sleeker and harder to see. So I would be interested in it for a decent price. Let me know where you are located and what you are wanting for it.
