If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Turning ESC off ...for real...With Video Proof!!

had no problems with my cruise control, once the car was warmed up got to do some proper turns going sideways with alittle smoke and tire noise. did a stright take off and set both michelin pilot ss on fire, caught me off gaurd. sounds wicked being able to keep the motor reved at 3500. its our car,we paid for it,we should be able to drive it any way we want

after you turn car off after doing this mod and get back in the next day is it still disabled or do you have to dot the procedure everytime you turn car on?

Does anyone know if this procedure works on a 2012 R Spec?

You have to do it each time.

Found this little device which should work great to bypass without needing to install a wire and switch. Basically it is a remote control relay so all you need to do is click the remote which you can hide in the centre console to deactivate the fuse. For less than $30 it is perfect for this application. I ordered one and will install with pictures once I get it. One channel solid state would be the best choice. http://www.oznium.com/remote-switch

Hi,
Have you done this to your R-Spec ?

Totally waiting to see this!

I have no idea how I totally missed Midnights post, but I'm intersted also. The product has great ratings on the site itself. Standing by.......

Wow - I have not been to this site in a LONG time but clicked on an old favorite to see if anyone ever found a way around the wiring solve to get rid of the ESC.

I have a 2009 that I have had for four years (still love it), and one of my only complaints is that I want the ESC turned off - but without all the wiring work.

If this remote works I am ordering one immediately.

any luck yet with the device?

Actually I got it installed last week and it works as advertised. Small hiccup as it switches the ground only and not the 12v. Easy to solve by adding a little relay which you can see stuck to the top of the controller with double sided sticky tape although it does add a few extra wires. I keep the remote in the smart key slot which sticks out just enough to grab onto and pull out.

This works the same way as if you were to pull the fuse, nothing more, nothing less. The convenience is there is no wires or holes to drill to get it from under the hood to the cockpit. All those esc and other funky lights do come on just like when you pull the fuse but the esc is definitely disabled and you can smoke the tires at will. After several tries only once did the cruise and esc light remain on after I turned the device off but it corrected itself after a restart of the engine. Like I said, same results as pulling the fuse

Midnightsun -- for those of us non-tech folks out here, can you please post a close-up of how you added "a little relay which you can see stuck to the top of the controller with double sided sticky tape"?

I have a 2009 Genesis and would love to add this...

Thanks!

I agree not having the ESC engaged can be beneficial at times even in snow and ice. Last winter the gravel road at the bottom of the mountain leading to our house had iced over. I said no problem, with my Genny, I'll make it up the mountain. After all, I had traction control and stability control. NOT!! How embarrassing, the car just sat there and wouldn't move. It was so torqued down, it moved 15 feet and stopped with no power. I turned off the ESC and made it up the mountain. Sure, the tires spun but it beat leaving the car at the bottom of the mountain and walking a mile in 20 degree temperatures.

thanks for the heads up on the wireless switch. what relay did you use and where can it be found. do you need to hold the remote button down for any length of time, or switch it off then on after 30 seconds to get the esc to stay off?
thanks

for the retards (at least this one) out here that want to install this mod, would someone post a step-by-step with pics? :p

Please somebody explain to me the difference in our cars

ESC (electronic stablility control)

TCS (traction control system)

If we press the ESC button what does this accomplish ?

My bmw had two setting , disabling the first would allow complete wheel spin as long as you were in a straight line... 2nd option would and has (for others) caused accidents. A VDC triangle is a warning stupidity to soon follow !

I'd like the option of disabling the TCS but leaving the ESC on.
I'm guessing this mod disables both ?

thanks
