Uniq Performance Rigid Collars

Haven't been on the forum for quit some time but you all are surely convincing my that these things are the way to go for my 2010 4.6 tech car. My biggest complaint with the car is the steering wheel shimmy on roads lined with imperfections or holes. I noticed a huge difference when I replaced those awful stock conti's with bridgestones but still get that steering wheel back and forth shake on some poor road. So my question is are you truly saying these collars will eliminate them :confused:

It will definitely make a difference and enough to be see results :)

Having sampled almost 800 miles of driving on a variety of road conditions in one go, not to mention NYC roads :eek:, for me personally the answer is a resounding yes....

As I have mentioned before, if you need a sample prior to upgrading, drive the 2015 3.8 / 5.0 (but not the ultimate) on the same type of road...

The rigit collar in my opinion upgrades the 2009-2014 model to around 90%+ of the 2015 ride, stability and comfort (YMMV)....
 
Does anybody know the torque settings for these?
 
I would say anywhere from 100-120 pounds

So I only ended up installing the 4 on the rear. Took me about an hour and a half. On first impression, the rear end of my car seems much more stiffer whereas the front seemed sort of loose. Hoping to finish the rest of them today.
 
I finished 9 out of 10 collars today.

One of the front 'R' collars was too thick and I would not catch a thread so I had to mount it on without the collar.

Having tested the car on a few corners before installing the collars and testing the car after, here are the results.

**Due to the cold weather/snow in Canada, I am driving around with 8 sand bags in my trunk.

- Less body lean on hard acceleration and hard braking. I wouldn't necessarily say that the car is stiffer but I would say that it is much more stable. 60% less lean than before.
- Cornering still requires very very minor adjustments on hard cornering. Regular cornering would require almost none.
- Reduced body movements on bumps. I can still feel the bumps but they are much more refined now and a bit softer.
- ESC does not kick in on hard acceleration whereas it would kick in before.

Compared to every car that I've owned, the Genesis is the most uncomfortable (bouncy suspension) and I would say that this upgrade is definitely worth it. It feels close to a brand new car.

Also to note: Splash guards requires a 10MM socket.
The subframe bolts are 19MM sockets.
The rear subframe are 19MM and 14MM sockets.

Odd that one collar would not fit, I would reach out to them and see if they can send you a replesement collar!?
As far as cornering I would highly recommend that you do a full alignment after you install the final collar, as I found out the alignment got rid of the need for the "very very minor adjustments" when executing a hard cornering manuover...

Just my two cents...

I installed it myself and As far as experience goes, I've never changed oil before.

Ya its not hard at all but dealers might be pricy
Find a local performance shop that can do it under an hour :)

Ive read all the posts in this thread, but just wanted to ask one more time before ordering the collars....
Most of you made it sound as if the ride is just all around "better" but I only saw one comment that described it as stiffer. I am concerned about that, as the rear of my 2012 4.6 seems to be very stiff already. It kind of "springs up" too hard after a decent sized bump at highway speed, and wears you out after a while. I sure don't want to make it worse!
Any chance the collars might even improve that problem if there is play in there that the collars would remove??
 
I would say that it makes the car stiffer in a solid way. Almost as if the car is properly rigid. I've noticed that the ride is not as harsh as before.
