  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Will there ever be a tune for a 3.8L n/a. I know probably wont see the gains a boosted car realizes but I would be interested to know if one might be offered some day?

Any other photos of how you installed it up there and held it in place? Did you have to remove some trim pieces to get it in there - and where did you route the wires?

Zip ties to keep it together with BT and it's hidden behind the fuse box, you can barely see it, lol

Post #60 Welcome to the JB4 Discussion and Support Forum

As I mentioned this already, I did not install it myself, so I don't know exactly which trim pieces under the hood has to be remove.
Perhaps, @Beefer would tell you this, as he did it himself.

Nothing needs to be removed. I ran my driver's side fuel wire and the OBDII wire along the rubber thingee under the hood (closest to the windshield).

My JB4 is mounted on top of the fuse box cover with 3M clear velcro strips.

My OBDII cable runs through the grommet that allows cabling to go through the firewall b/w the engine bay and cabin. This cable is permanent...too hard to do. So when going to the dealer...OBDII connector is unplugged and hidden. Where the cable plugs into the JB4...that end will just be tucked away and hidden as well.

Btw the OBD cable can be fit through the fender and hood crevice if you don't want to poke through the grommet!

I've just read all 18 pages of the sticky thread above this one, and all 6 pages of this thread. I followed Beefer's journey with great interest and I am ready to purchase the JB4 and spark plugs... The problem though (and I think this was Beefer's concern as well), is that I am very afraid of doing something wrong and causing damages. Is there a guide with step by step instructions and pictures/video tailored to the G70 available anywhere? I can only find the stinger guide thus far. I would happily pay a mechanic (Toronto, Canada area) to install the whole thing but I am not sure who to trust :(

If you don't feel comfortable...don't attempt it. JB4 is easy. Get the plugs done at a shop.

My shop has never seen a G70 or a Stinger...and they got it done in under 1.5 hours. Total labor cost to me was $130. Well worth it.

Your call though :) No other videos out there.

They JB4 is so easy to do...and you will have fun doing it.

Yeah for sure, plugs in a shop!

Did you use the stinger pictures as a guide? Was everything easy to find? Any unforseen issues?

Any video out there on changing the plugs? Can't be that hard.

^ yes...just Google "Stinger change spark plugs". Two versions. Long method posted by Torque...and a short cut posted by some peeps. Short cut scares me...easily break something.

I read somewhere that the 2.0 engine doesn't need the spark plugs. Is this true?
It's already a heat range of 8. The 3.3t stock plugs are 7 I believe.
Engine cousin to the Evo X which uses the same heat range at a higher HP.
Anyway you should change out if you're gonna go crazy on the mods like exhaust, intake, better intercooler, WMI, and etc.
But just for JB4, probably not necessary unless you redline often. Just re-gap.
Super easy to do. 10 minute job!
The alternative plugs for the 2.0T is the HKS M45XL and it is pretty pricey. There are NGK racing plugs available as well but even pricier.

So I can't get get the Denso plugs for the 2.0t?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

Nope. There are Denso plugs but not the heat range you want. Our NGKs are not generic. They are Kia/Genesis specific. Only available from the dealer.
Any 12x25.6 16mm Iridium will work but if you plan on replacing, the only colder plugs we know of is the HKS M45XL and NGK R2556.

Burger told me stock spark plugs should be fine for Map 1 (91oct) and Map 2 (93oct) with no other mods.

I'm like waiting every day on the Kia Stinger forum to see if someone sells a used one because there is never a discount on it. I should just pull the trigger.

On 91 Octane with Map2 it pulls hard around 3k rpm and up. Peak Boost hits 23psi which is 5psi over stock.
93/94 Octane would be better for Map2 power wise but so far no issues. I may try 94 Octane or just get some Octane Booster.
Basically you can break lose the rear wheels with the nannies off.
I only use 91 Top Tier from Costco since I had the car.
Stock plugs and gaps btw. Was going to regap but seems fine so far. I don't have a heavy foot so I'm not going to do unecessary work!

NLJ, I've been following your posts on this thread with the most interest because I too have the 2.0T. Are you still on stock plugs and did not re-gap them? Any updates now that you have had it for a while?

No I was planning on trying some Boostane over the summer so I got the HKS M45XL plugs. But never ended up going through buying any Boostane.
Plugs cost me about $125 CAD shipped from Japan.
Now I feel like I have to be a bit more aggressive to not foul it up since it is a colder plug!
