  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What things don't you like in the G70?

How did you go from looking at buying a small, two seat roadster (a convertible) to a 3900 lb four door sedan (i.e. NOT a Sports Car)?

This one is easy to answer.
When driving a Miata on interstate freeway.
All I saw around me was 18 wheelers tires.
G70 is not exactly in the same class but it's much safer on freeway than the Miata.
Do not get me wrong here I love the 6 speed manual of the Miata, especially at 4th gear in redline zone!
In the country side twisted roads, the Miata rules but IMO it's not a practical DD car like the G70.
Then the WAF kicked in. I changed my game plan.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I have both-NB Miata and G70.
Nice! I've never driven a Miata, but I think it would be a blast. Might be a bit tight for me. The real test is which keys do you reach for when going out for a drive? (Obviously the G70 is the choice when taking other people or hauling luggage, etc..)

I second that. NC Miata and G70 3.3 sport. Love them both. G70 is refined and more relaxing to drive with way more power. Miata, 6 sp is fun, zipping around back roads top down is fun, but not so much a daily driver all the time. I’m of the age now where comfort and relaxing is important. Don’t plan on giving up the Miata for after my Harley was totaled, the Miata is now what I take on riding trips with my buddies.

Costs wise. A loaded ND RF trim is close to with a 2019 deep discounted high trim G70 or around upper mid 30K range.
Back in Feb Mazda dealerships I shopped would not bend much like Hyundai's.
Otherwise I'd have ended up with one. The sale guy recently called me back a couple of times after I got the G70. It sounds like it was desperate for a sale.
IMO, the G70 is a compromise for a good and luxurious sport sedan which seems like a perfect fit for our second car.

This is my kind of conversation! I've got a 3.3t AWD G70 and a 2017 ND Miata (soft top). Love them both for completely different reasons.

Back to the topic.
I did not like the stocked headlight beam angle that came with the car/
The beam projected angle was way too dangerously low!
Here is how I fixed it.

Today I was driving using paddle shifters but not in a sporty manner. Using below 3500 rpm. And, my car did not shift up to 7th when the rpm was 2500. I tapped my paddle shifter multiple times and did not work. I pressed and held + for few seconds for automatic mode and finally it shifted up to 7th. Never had the issue with my previous car Kia Stinger.

Seat extension for easier access does not work too. I put it extended but never worked. I'm only 5'10. The function worked in my Stinger though with the same seat position.

Are you sure you have that option turned on? that the easy access seat setting is set correctly?

Yes sir! It is set Extended. I was just advised that since rear seat space of G70 is smaller than Stinger, the seat extension function is limited. I pulled the seat forward and the function worked.

What and how the Stinger does, doesn’t mean Genesis will be exactly the same. Genesis may have slightly altered shift points or programming logic. The seat retract issue has been talked about before. Once the seat is in a certain position, say 70-80% of rear extension, the auto retract function doesn’t work. Not sure why? One work around is to program seat position button 2 to full rear extended position. When you stop, hit button 2 and retract back, problem solved.

I personally hate the trunk space. Not too worried about the back seat rooms since I don't like driving a lot of people in the car at once but thats kind of a let down as well.

Oh and what Limdw90 said. I wanted my seat to extend back when I turn the car off like my steering wheel. Thats a no go.

As it gets hotter these days I normally leave my sunroof popped open so some heat can escape. I have not figured out a way to partially close the sunroof shade to minimize sunlight while also keeping it popped open at the same time? Anytime I move the shade the roof closes shut. My prior car had a manual shade so partially closing it to block some sunlight while keeping the sunroof popped open was never an issue. Not a big deal really.

Yeah, I prefer the manual shades. Quicker, simpler, less to go wrong.

This is a dealer/Genesis gripe, not a car gripe, but it's been over a year and I'm still waiting for my "free" bottle of touch-up paint for my Black Forest green. Also still waiting for the proper tire inflation sticker for the door jamb (for some reason they put on the one for the sport model at the factory). Sheeesh.

Husky,

I also ordered one right after buying my 2019 Design Edition last October and it hasn't arrived. I suspect they just don't exist for some reason...
Enjoy,
Carguy55

That does seem to be the case. Let me know if you ever get any, I'll do the same.

  1. Coarseness of engine above 3000 RPM. Coming from the 5.0 V8, it was a bit of a let-down (many of these will be things that were removed from the 5.0 G80).
  2. Lack of head-unit knob necessitating use of the touch screen. To every Genesis interior designer reading this: please make touch-screens completely optional. They suck when you're trying to drive and focus on the road.
  3. Song information missing from DIS. If you're on Android Auto and have Waze up, you have to switch out of Android Auto to see what song is playing. There should be a screen on the DIS to show what is playing (though you could just as easily fault Waze for not displaying that information on the screen)
  4. (Waze on Android Auto issue) lack of compass on the screen
  5. Engine feels/sounds like a 4 cylinder when not on the boost drug
  6. Engine feels amazing when using the boost drug, but is super-thirsty when doing so
  7. Steering wheel keeps telling me to keep my hands on the wheel when I'm already holding the wheel
  8. AC feels a bit under-powered.
  9. A little on the noisy side
