  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What was your car before buying G2 genesis 2015 - 2016 ?

2013 Altima 3.5 SL
2010 Maxima SV Prem/Tech
2008 Accord Couple V6-L, 6spd MT

The Genesis 5.0 takes it to the next level.

2014 Cadillac SRX
2011 Camero ss

The 2015 Genesis sedan 5liter is the best of both

My last four cars are the only ones I've bought new. Kinda noticing a trend here, I keep switching between 2-door and 4-door. Clearly that means I need two cars. Not sure why two of the pictures are resizing small, but oh well.

2015 Genesis 3.8 Signature - haven't done much to it yet.

2013 Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track. It was low, loud, and (reasonably) quick, about 300 WHP, and I miss all that, but I was ready to change it up.

Before that, a 2008 Chevrolet HHR SS 2.0T. Surprisingly fun when torque steer wasn't trying to yank the wheel out of my hands, tons of space.

Before that, a 2006 Scion tC.

2015 Mercedes C300 AWD Luxury, Airmatic

S class Mercedes. I won't say what year, but it is older than a lot of the people on this board that own Genesis now.
I didn't replace the Benz, only reduced its duties. No more long trips.

HHR - tons of space? Really?

My wife had one as a company car for 2 years and it was, hands down, the worst car she has ever had. Terrible ride, awful visibility, cramped seating space (really narrow vehicle), poor storage and atrocious fit and finish. I often said it was a good example of why GM was getting it's clock cleaned by competitors! And yes... horrible torque steer!

With the back seat folded flat, it basically turned into a cargo van, something like 60 cubic feet of space in what was essentially a wagon-ized Cobalt. I'd call that a lot.

I had a rental of the base version once, and I agree - terrible ride and awful steering, but hey, it's an econobox. The SS version fixed that, just added torque steer from having all the extra HP (290 bhp w/ GM-warranty'd tune - never dyno'd it though) go to the front.

I never felt cramped in mine, and yeah the roofline does cause some upward visibility issues but overall I never had any problem there either. Fit and finish was about what you'd expect from a mid-$20k GM product, no major issues there either though. To each their own.

I went from a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Dark Forest Green on Luggage Tan to a 2016 Genesis 3.8 AWD Ultimate, Empire State Grey on Black.

2006 Sonata Limited 3.3L V6. My wife wanted it to replace her 2013 Elantra, which she disliked. The Sonata is hard on gas in town, but it's been stupidly dependable and trouble free.

Traded in a 2008 Ford Taurus - OK car - except for the sudden acceleration syndrome that it exhibited -- made driving quite exciting though

"Customization:Automatic turn on of heated/cooled seats, Automatic raising/lowering of rear sunshade"

How does this work then?

Nick

Just traded in my '12 R Spec, 48K miles, with a blown motor for a '15 5.0. :)

I turned in a '08 Pontiac G8 under the lemon law and bought the '12 R Spec.

Basically, I use small timer circuits to "electronically" push the buttons. The buttons cannot be pushed for several seconds after the vehicle start and the cooled/heated seat buttons can only be pushed for 2-3 seconds (pushing it longer turns it back off). I will be happy to email wiring diagrams to anyone that wants it.

A similar process could be used to automatically turn on auto hold or select eco or sport mode.

Just bought a brand new 2015 Genesis 5.0, got a blow out deal for $37.7K

I had ordered a heavily optioned $68k C450AMG, but cancelled once the C43AMG cabriolet was announced. Ordered the Cabrio at an estimated $80k, ughhh, and either luckily or prophetically, our 5 year old was accepted to a very expensive private school. So with large and looming tuition payments due for the next 13 years, my car budget was heavily refined by the wife...

Next shopping was for Nissan Maxima's then a friend steered me to the cheap deals on 2015 V8 Genesis' and here I am! A convert from the dark side...

Last cars:
Volvo S60R Evolv tune
Volvo XC70 Polestar tune
Infiniti FX45 stock for wife
Mercedes CLK 430 Cabriolet RennTech custom build
Honda S2000, heavily modified
BMW Z3 for wife
Porsche 911C4

And honestly, my Hyundai is the most refined car of the bunch, but my friends and family may still be plotting an intervention...
