Winter wheel & tire packages?

Probably should've gone gray for over all look, but as the stock are gray, I figured I'd mix it up for a a bit of the year.

- 225/45R-18 Perelli Winter Sottozero 3 XL
- 18x8 Enkei Performance Vulan with 35 offset

Road noise is definitely up, but I'll probably tune it out completely next time I go for a ride.

I only drive a couple miles on the way home from the shop yesterday, but I noticed that it seemed to pick up the TPMS immediately (I say seem because I just had the car serviced and I didn't think to check the pressures prior to the tire swap).

What's interesting is that I filled them to 36 front, 39 rear. But the info is showing 38 front, 41 rear. 2 psi higher. Is that just because I went from 19s to 18s, and the TPMS need more time?

Dealer set mine at 36 psi. I'll monitor and add more if needed but so far so good. BTW - looks good to me

Did you drive aggressively? What was the temperature outside? What TPMS sensors did you get (e.g. oem)? My guess was that maybe you were driving hard.

Side note, I LOVE the grey but my old car was grey so I had to switch it up.

I just ordered and installed KMC Wishbone wheels 18x8 and Cooper True North tires for my winter setup. I was worried about whether the rims would fit because discount tire computer system showed it wouldn't work. I insisted that they would fit and asked the manager to order them anyway. Once they got the rims delivered they checked fitment and there was no issue. They said they were planning on updating their website and they would inform the supplier that they would fit.

Checked my pressure while driving (love that feature, hate the 'light' like my wifes' Highlander has) and I'm 37/38/37/38 psi

Finally getting mine installed on Thursday after a lengthy delay. Went with the Fast Co rims through Genesis and Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 through a local tire shop. Can't wait til I can finally drive it again, had to park it in the garage for the last few weeks due to the snow.

They are +35 offset 18x8 KMC Wishbone rims with 225/45 R18 Cooper True North winter

Got my winters and decided to weigh the stock Sport 19 staggered for reference.
Front 19 X 8 +34 with tire @ 55 pounds each
Rear 19 X 8.5 +46.5 with tire @ 60 pounds each

Winter Set up 18 X 8.5 +35 with 225 45 18 Yokahama winter tires on Konig Dekagram through Discount tire including TPMS. Everything bolted up easily and TPMS recognized no problems.

45 pounds for the tire/wheel combo.

After Market rims and winter tires made a huge difference in how the car drives and handles. I have noticed a fuel economy boost in my day to day drives. For years, I have believed that Winter tires reduce the fuel economy but this is the first time I have seen it do the complete opposite. Not sure if this is because the car is 40 pounds lighter or the Winter tires.

This could be because the car is 190 pounds lighter and less the weight hence improved fuel mileage.

Sorry, not 190 pounds lighter. It's actually 40 pounds lighter which shouldn't make a huge difference but I think it's because of the tires.

Nope, I was driving pretty pedestrian. Like I said, I didn't put more than a couple miles on it on the way home. Will give it some lovin' tomorrow.

I say check again. Maybe weather outside was warm? I think 2 PSI is within margin of error though.

I’d also recommend double checking pressures with Tire pressure gauge.

It definitely has nothing to do with going to a smaller rim.

Even normal driving will increase your tire pressure a little from when it's cold (ie sitting in the garage or outside all night when it's cold outside).

From what you're saying everything sounds totally normal to me.

It's been 50 or so these couple days when I've driven it. Not much delta between the shop and outside. Took for out for a bit longer today and the pressures were the same. I'd say something is not calibrated correctly, need to get out my tire pressure stick thing and get a third reading.

like toddasaurauce and I said, it’s most likely with in normal range; but doesn’t hurt to double check with a tire pressure gauge.

if you bought it from a dealer/store, you can always take it back there and have them look at the readings and reprogram it.

Put a set of Michelin PS A/S 3+ tires on today (19" on std staggered wheels). The PS4s go in the shed until April. Will report back in a few weeks with my thoughts on comparing the summer to A/S rubber...

They'll be fine. I wouldn't worry about it. It's not R compound rubber.

I’m not sure I believe that. Tire compounds are designed for a specific temperature. Extreme cold will most likely break the disulfide bonds. if that’s all you can do, then you do your best

I did learn that they shouldn’t be beside anything that produces ozon (e.g. furnace) because that damages them. I’ll be moving mine tomorrow I guess....
