If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Correct but AWD is most often marketed as being most advantageous in rain etc. I think they are missing the boat here.

5.0 No AWD?
3.8 18 inch only? No LED Foglights?
Seriously?

They seriously botched the PR on the release. There are several errors and conflicts. The website shows the kdm dual projectors that weren't on the Detroit launch. They list 425hp as a feature, and the spec sheet says 420. They list the V8 with the V6 specs on the spec sheet, etc.

I'm hoping there are some errors on that option sheet. It does look like there is going to be an options package on top of the V8 judging by that though. It would be a pretty severe disappointment for things that are standard on the 2014 V8 to not even be optional on the 2015 V8 (heated rear seats and steering wheel???). Just because I can handle a RWD car in snow doesn't mean I don't want warming options!

On the V8/AWD combo at least I can think of theoretical mechanical/warranty issues with combing the V8 torque with the AWD system. TBH Unless pricing was surprisingly good I was intending to go with V8 RWD anyway.

It would be downright silly if the best equipped of the cars was the AWD V6!

I get having a "cold weather" package, but it shouldn't be attached to the AWD, especially if the AWD/V8 combo isn't allowed.

How does one get into the Hyundai think tank? It seems they're in desperate need of more feedback....

With exception of LED fog lights, the V6 may be the better equipped car but only if all options are added. But of course that would likely bring price up to that of the V8 or perhaps even more.

I am a Think Tank member, but I don't think they get valuable feedback from members on that site. That is just not the place to get feedback from the customers they are trying to get for the Genesis. This forum would be a much better place, because at least here everyone owns a Genesis or Equus.

Back in 2012, Hyundai decided that the V8 was going to be reserved for the R-Spec on the Genesis, and most people who purchase that car are not that interested in AWD. It looks like they have not changed their thinking. The 2015 Genesis V8 may not be called an R-Spec, but it effectively will be that type of car.

Maybe they just need to do some more work on an AWD that is robust enough for the V8, since I suspect they would eventually want AWD on the Equus also.

You may be right regarding the AWD 5.0 but I just know that if I do purchase the V6, because I really need AWD, they will release the AWD 5.0 next year and I will then kick myself....several times.

The video from the live stream is down (it was up live, then up again as an archive and now it's gone). I seriously think I remember that V6 at Detroit having the LED fogs though. Can't say 100%, but I really think it did. On the same note, the interior pictures from what I thought was the V8 have buttons in the rear console that are confusing if they're not heated seats.

I don't know what to say at this point except that I hope it's a mistake, and if it's not a mistake I hope they change their minds bc it's not silly it's stupid. Are they really seriously, no-joke, straight-faced saying that not only do options disappear from 2014 to 2015 MY (accompanied by talk of how well-optioned the car is and a price increase), but also that the Genesis V8 won't have heated rear seats that are available on the Azera, on the Sonata, and even on the Elantra???? I think things like the HUD are neat features, but tossing the basics in favor of them makes 0 sense.

I know we each have our little things, but heated rear seats (idc about ventilated) are a requirement for me for transporting a couple family members who are varying degrees of cold intolerant so that I don't have to keep the whole car at 80 for them. And without the V8 there's no way I would trade my current car. If true this is simply a no-go for me.

I believe there were numerous references to V8 AWD cars being driven during the KDM launch.

Yes, I also recall seeing several references to the V8 AWD. Maybe just not bringing it to US. A disappointment.

This is the reason I will wait. For people who like their current car and don't have a deadline on making a decision (lease expiration, or someone like Dan with his seat issue) there are all kinds of reasons to pause.

That's my spot. Have a current BMW lease coming up in April and much pressure and incentives from BMW to move over into a new lease on a 550iX. Significant price gap, but....AWD V8, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, soft-close doors...

Even though I'm EXBMWGUY, in your shoes, I'd go with a 550iX on a lease. You have virtually nothing to lose except a higher lease payment.

Loved my 2000 740il in spite of trips to dealer. Not sure my pockets are deep enough for the 550ix.

The incentives from the holiday programs and money back from BMWCCA lessens the pocket depth, as does pricing $500 over invoice. But, the Genesis has the value proposition, although the strange optioning is concerning.

There is still possibility that the features/options list that was released will be amended. Not likely so for the V8 AWD option but perhaps for heated rear seats and wheel in V8 and LED fogs for V6. I say that because I have seen several pics of the 3.8 with LED fogs.

I agree, either the V6 is available with LED's, it has fake LED's (worst option IMO), or the one they showed at Detroit wasn't fully USDM. I'm really hoping that option list isn't final/correct, bc with the option reduction on the V8 I'd be out. I've been following this car for a year, got permission from the wife to buy when it comes out and the whole 9 yards.

I get that there might be mechanical and longevity issues with the AWD V8, or maybe some internal study said the take rate would be too low to justify building it. It is definitely odd that the sneak peak thing they did with the US auto mags definitely involved an AWD V8 though. If AWD isn't offered with the V8 then the heated rear seats and steering wheel should be offered separately.

At this point are we even sure whether the HP number is 420 or 425? Spec sheet says 420, but the hyundaigenesis.com micro site has 425 listed under features. They still have the dual projector headlights on that micro site too. It's sad that we get official release materials and we're still just as cloudy on info as we were when all the auto mags were just making half-informed guesses.

I hope someone at Hyundai does read this forum to see how people will react to options being removed from the '15 Genesis V8 that are on the '14, as well as on Azera, Sonata, Elantra, and practically all of the intended Genesis competitors.

I think the best answer we may get is from forum members checking out the V8 Genesis at Detroit to see if it has buttons for the heating options and confirming with Hyundai staff who are there presenting the car.

dang was going to trade up my 2012 5.0 for 5.0/AWD. I'll wait for more details and hope, but if not then the CTS-V will have 600+ hp supercharged LT4, might jump ship!

Yes, I also recall seeing several references to the V8 AWD. Maybe just not bringing it to US. A disappointment.

I would think that the the US, the Middle East, the possibly Europe would be the #1 destinations for a V8 AWD. IIRC, they don't even sell the V8 in the KDM.

Does anyone know if the rear seats have a 60/40 split for fold down capability? My 2011 Maxima doesn't and it's a pain when I need to put things in the trunk that are long and the ski passthrough isn't wide enough. Happened twice recently when I purchased a metal bedframe.

According to the feature list on this link, the seats you want are standard on V8 and optional on V6:
http://www.hyundainews.com/us/en-us/Media/Topic.aspx?mediaid=40246&mediakitid=40245

"16-way power driver’s seat w/ power bolster, cushion extender and 4-way lumbar, memory (I.M.S)"
Mark88 - Thanks for the link and the heads up on the seat package option. I for sure want the V8 with seat optional power bolsters, and RWD. That's really all i care about.

Again, thanks for the link, will take a closer look at it. Regards, Dan

I think it's ski pass through as well.
