  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Genesis Sedan Reviews

Hmm at Motortrend it says

"The 2015 Genesis’ HID headlights with LED turn indicators draw attention to the car and everything is laid out in long horizontal lines that make the sedan look wider."

I thought they didn't bring the led turn signals in the headlights over here?

Thanks, ksoze! Very helpful.

One of these reviews indicated that the real wood trim would not be available on the base model and perhaps even higher models. Anybody have more info on that?

Believe the released specs show the "Genuine matte finish wood trim & aluminum trim" on the Ultimate Packages (which require tech).

I agree. Equal parts biased, lazy and uninformed mixed with attitude = this review.

The reviewer's comments on the '15 are actually quite complimentary, but his introduction is so condescending. He begins by dissing the 1st gen and then implies that the new version is best suited for older people who can't afford better when they retire.

But if you really want to see stupidity in action, read some of the comments that follow the article.

Auto reviewer are a dime a dozen. They basically work for peanuts (and sometimes only for free travel, meals, etc) and get their main satisfaction from getting to drive cars a lot of different cars, especially those they can't afford. They get bored with anything that is not extraordinarily luxurious or extremely sporty.

But in terms of identifying a target market for a car, that is very slippery slope. I think the Yahoo reviewer is partly right that it will appeal to a lot of older drivers, but that is no different than any other car of its size and amenities. But it will also appeal to others as well. I do think that younger buyers (especially those without children) are more "likely" to buy something smaller and sportier, and with more prestige.

But there is no "single" target group of Genesis buyers, and no defined set of competitive cars, and there is a lot more variation in these things than Hyundai marketing, auto reviewers, and YEH claims. People whose job it is make these judgments will make them, even if they don't really know what the real truth is.

Me too and that is the reason why I will not purchase until late fall.

Weird, I seen no mention of soft close doors but at auto show it was there. Hopefully they keep this feature. I hate when people slam my door.

Was wondering about that as there has been no mention by any of the numerous reviewers who were with the car last week. Maybe one of them can fill us in.

I love soft close doors. I hope I'll have them with the 2015 Genesis. I'm not holding my breath, however...

As for R-Spec, I hope they can squeeze out a little more performance. I've never been a fan of special badging without any extra power...

I have seen nothing listed on their website regarding soft closing doors. Sounds like a neat option for sure. I hope they do come out with an RSPEC version before I pull the trigger on one. One with more power as you noted.
