If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015/2016 Generation Genesis "Dislikes"

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

when is your new Genesis arriving?

any plans to test it on a drag strip?

I'm curious as to how the blue will look as I've seen white, gray, and pictures of the red. be sure to post some shots.

No drag strip as I am really not into that stuff and honestly could not care if the 0-60 was 4.5 or 5.5. The way it is is plenty fast for me.

Unfortunately they needed to order my car and production is not until July with delivery in September. :(

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

September... That sucks. I want the same exterior color as you but I want the beige interior.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

This version of the Genesis is one I won't even bother stopping by a dealer ship to even look at.
I'm still happy my 2010 Genesis 4.6 came with the ZF gear box that makes the car shift RIGHT NOW, when you punch it. When Hyundai started putting that slush box 8 speed they designed into the car I gave up the idea of getting another Genesis until or unless they fixed that transmission.

I had hoped Hyundai would have fixed that slush box transmission by the 2nd generation but obviously not. My view is what good is BIG horsepower if you can't get that power to the road when you want it.
I had hoped the 2nd generation car would have offered an option like Mercedes does with their AMG cars or Audi's S and RS versions or BMW's M powered cars but instead Hyundai gives us a marshmallow.
Now with this newest version adding to my further disappointment I will just keep driving the car I have until time comes to get a new car I will probably be forced to buy German.

Hyundai wake up not everyone wants to drive LARGE barges.

So despite auto mag reviews and people on here saying the transmission is significantly improved you're writing it off without driving it because it's not made by ZF? Go drive a '15 in sport mode and come back and say the transmission behaves just like the previous model...

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Now that I've had some time to really play with it I would like to second Acecert's comments about the voice recognition. It seriously needs a software fix ASAP. I would LOVE if it was something Hyundai offered for download without going through a dealer.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

I went to the dealer today and to check out my 2013 Rspec. There was a blue 3.8 premium 201 Genesis that just arrived. Not particularly crazy about this model but it was okay. Will prefer when I get my RSPEC next week.

The dealer showed me that there is no place to put the front license plate except on the massive grill itself. And not even on the bottom of the front grille. Has anybody had any experience with this?

this is the best shot I've found

Thank goodness we have no front plates in Florida!

For those states that do, sometimes there is nowhere else to put it...

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Have you even sat in one? There is nothing flimsy on the interior. I'm assuming you're talking about the upper dash when you say hard plastic -- it's not. What do you want air vents in the door for? There are vents under both seats and out the rear of the center console for the backseat. Not to mention the lack of air vents in the door allows other things like significantly improved sound isolation. Zero is the right amount of chrome for a luxury interior. If you're referring to the rear exterior maybe, but switching to the larger wing emblem helps that a bit.

Increased weight is a legitimate gripe if performance was on the top of your list, but it was traded for a far better ride, a stiffer chassis, and a superb safety rating (judging from the videos it may be the best on the road, certainly bests the S80 and RLX). Yes, I wish they could've done that 500lbs lighter, but I personally couldn't afford the resulting price of my 5.0 Ult.
uhmm yeah I did sit in it. From what I see with the 2015 Genesis Hyundai did take great cost cutting measures to improve their profit.

Just look at photos of the previous gen & 2015 Genesis.

Previous gen. Thick door, well padded that feel substantial and have those nice 'Lexus' retractable door pockets

2015 Genesis door. Cheap & flimsy door. Where is the luxury?

For comparison, Lexus door.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

^^
The dash is not hard plastic, and the door is neither thin nor flimsy. Those are factual errors, not opinions. I have no interest in your comparison to a Lexus that starts at $72k. You didn't even bother using the closer (still more expensive) GS.

As for where is the luxury -- lets do the actual comparison I was responding to. Outgoing vs New Genesis. They subtracted a thin fake chrome strip for significantly more real aluminum. The overall surface area of leather is about the same (more in the mid region, less where the new now has real wood). What are you smoking?

^ Yeah, don't know what he is talking about.

Real wood trim (even if imported veneer) is more expensive than leather trim and Hyundai also mostly replaced the fake silver painted plastic w/ real metal.

The silver plasticky center stack of the old Genesis just screamed cheapness (being developed for the KDM, the Genesis and prior MCE Equus had subpar materials at the front, whereas the rear controls were made of higher quality materials - which made sense since Genesis/Equus owners tend to have drivers).

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

^ A Euro-shaped plate would look better.

A normal size grill would look better.

A normal size grill would look better.

This is normal in todays standards. Got to get with the times my friend. ;) Honestly, I think the new grill is stunning, then again we have no front plates here. :p

for some reason I'm not able to PM you. did you turn your PM off?

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Wish you could turn on the LED fogs with the "parking lights" (LEDs in the headlight).

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Saw a K900 today with just the fog lights/DRL's on, looked really nice IMO and were super bright.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Button placement for the heated rear seats and rear sunshade on the 3.8 HTRAC...still on the back armrest where it is easily hit on accident. They should just have a button on each door panel for the heated seats, there is no reason a control for the rear window shade should be back there at all.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Backup camera is way off the mark, with the steering wheel straight you can see it clearly in the following pictures. What's really odd is the top down view shows me off in the opposite direction of what the normal view tells me. I have tried it on both the 5.0 and V6 HTRAC Ultimate's with the same results, I'll let the service manager know:
