If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. 2015/2016 Generation Genesis "Dislikes"

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

My 2015 3.8AWD is now 20 days old. My gripes are:
1) No bluelink apps for the windows phone. must be because of the dislike betweek Microsoft and Google. get with it Hyundai. Windows phones users are also Genesis buyers!
2) I still miss the stupid lighted door sills which were on my 2012 4.6. I guess you could buy them and the wiring is most likely there.
3) that's about it.

1. There are no Bluelink apps for any phone.
2. Still bummed out about not being able to call up saved route by (verbally) name. I had that before. Didn’t have to take my eyes off the road or pull over to start route while driving. I got to think they’re going to fix this.

I suspect that he means the Genesis Intelligent Assistant App (which is Blue Link)- and I think it is only available for iOS and Android.

However, even with a Windows phone, you can always use your browser to go to Myhyundai.com where you can log in and do everything that the app does (remote start, lock/unlock, lights/horn, etc.,). It's not as convenient but just as functional (esp. since the app doesn't actually do much of what it was supposed to do - at least not yet).

In case it isn't clear, at least for IPHONE, the APP you want is called GENESIS and is specifically for the 2015 Genesis NOT a regular Hyundai App. I had downloaded the WRONG app and it didn't work until I clarified it. I have the app now and I haven't tested all of it but one can load POIs, find gas (altho me I like Gas Buddy) Locate a dealer and your car and remote start, I did use it to flash lights and lock unlock etc.

For Android format the exact name is "2015 Genesis" no other one will work.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

The 5.0 has both LED fog lights and DTR lights. Unfortunately the 3.8 does not and according to the dealership OEMs CAN NOT BE INSTALLED. I dislike that this is not an option. If some one knows different please post.

I reached out to Genesis Customer Care and they opened a case number about it. They said they would get back to me after they research it and promised a response by 09/05/14. In another forum post someone found the wiring hardnesses for the fog lights on a 3.8. I spoke with one dealer who said they can order "replacement" parts for a 5.0 and install them on the V6. Another post stated that all Canadian versions come with fog lights.

Taking in all that, the OEM Foglights can be installed. Here is the catch... They are crazy expensive. Got the pricing today from a very helpful local Hyundai Dealership parts guy. There are three pieces to the set. The turn signal stalk, left assembly and right assembly. There are actually multiple stalk configurations depending on if you have HTRAC and which option package you choose. Here is the pricing he relayed:

  1. Stalk (v6 AWD Ultimate): $410
  2. Left Assembly: $553.36
  3. Right Assembly: $553.36
Total: $1,526.72

That's the total without install of course. Not sure how hard the install would be, but seems like it would be relatively painless if you discount lifting the car or crawling under it and having to disassemble the steering column to remove the old and install the new stalk. Hopefully just a few screws and a wiring harness.

Hope that helps...

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

I’m really quite amazed at the obsession with these LED fog lights. To spend $1500.00 in parts have somebody take apart your steering column, front lower grille assemblies and have to pay them for it. Not even sure how it affects the warranty. I don’t see it… but what the hell if it makes you happy go for it.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

I'm not jumping on it yet... That's a bit high for me for fog lights. There is also a full set of lights (no stalk) being sold on ebay for about $350.

In the olden days, folks would just install an aftermarket light switch on, or under, the dashboard.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

One thing I really dont like is that Hyundai made the 2015 Genesis look more like a Hyundai as the 2009-2014 looked very unique and not Hyundai like. Although I did buy a new 2015 and no regrets I really liked some of the old styling and wished they had brought more over to the new MY.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

I'm not going to go through the same list as everyone else, as we mostly share the same (relatively) minor complaints, but I have 2 (I am saving 1 for later with photos). Unless I'm missing it, there's no icon to show you that your driving lights are on (Low Beams). Parking lights? Yep, right there. Driving lights? No, at least not that I can see. In my Elantra and Azera there was an icon for each mode; parking, driving (low), and high beams. Yes, at night I can tell that my lights are on, but not during the day when it's raining or at dusk. Am I missing something? It does show up briefly when you actually select the headlight settings on the stalk in a pop up window, but no permanent icon. The owner's manual shows the "Low Beam Indicator Light" symbol with a (if equipped) notation. Seems really odd.

I keep coming back to the rear-end as something that could be jazzed-up a bit.

+1

Maybe a chrome strip across the back like the old one. Maybe I can get some silver duct tape and fashion a strip across the trunk! Whatcha think? LOL

Even after 5 years, I still received a lot of looks and comments for my Platinum Tau. Almost no one has commented on my Parisian Gray 2015 exterior in over 3000 miles of use, although several have commented favorably on the interior.

Wow - that's not my experience at all. I constantly get looks and positive comments on the exterior of my 2015 Empire State Gray 3.8 AWD - many from BMW/Audi/Mercedes owners. I can't tell you how often I find people doing a walk around the car in the parking lot when I come out of a store.

I personally like the tail end as is - simple and elegant and doesn't need a "me too" chrome strip like everyone else appears to use these days.

Agreed. If you're looking it at really close up and straight on, yeah -- it looks rather Sonata-ish (I have seen that comparison made in the forum here). But at a distance, and from an angle, the rear looks quite nice and distinct just as it is, IMO.

Edit: I will admit that I liked the rear of my Azera better than the Genesis.

I don't really think chrome is the answer for the rear-end (I was joking earlier); it's something else... Part of it I believe is the ride height, but as I think about it, I think part of it is also the rear taillight treatment that just looks "ho-hum" to me. Not enough to stop me from buying a 2016, mind you...

Totally agree....that Empire Gray in bright daylight is a show stopper.
