C&D - 2015 Hyundai Genesis 5.0

But what Hyundai has actually built here is the spiritual successor to the first Lexus LS400. That’s especially true of the rear-drive, V-8–powered Ultimate version we’ve just tested.

We mean that as a compliment, by the way. Yes, the new Genesis is more car than the 25-year-old Lexus in every possible way. It’s larger, quicker, much more powerful, 661 pounds heavier, and a little thirstier. But its calm, quiet demeanor is spot on. The Genesis’s baby-butt-smooth 5.0-liter V-8 reminds us that, while luxury carmakers are abandoning V-8s in favor of forced-induction six-cylinder engines, the bent-eight remains the configuration of choice for those who prioritize silken operation. The engine teams with an eight-speed automatic to deliver a seemingly frictionless propulsion system.

C&D seems to agree w/ Alex on Autos that the 5.0 Genesis is the successor to the LS400.

To be fair, it's not even close to being a review. But they do note the same concerns many have: quite poor fuel economy and questionably significant gains in performance for most real world driving situations vesus the 3.8- at least for the tradeoff in fuel efficiency (not to say that the 5.0 isn't quicker). I love my 3.8 AWD, but would love to see a more efficient, turbo or supercharged 3.3 replace it.
 
I would not really call that a review, more like some observations.

They fail to mention the decked out V6 in Canada cannot have the larger center display between the gauges nor the 9.2" navigation or rotary command on the console. Where are the 19" wheels and suede headliner, the credit card key fob and the list goes on. You simply cannot get a decked out V6 here in Canada. This is the main reason the price difference is so high between the V8 and V6 flavours.
 
Good notes. Is that a Ibiza or Montecito blue car in that review?
 
I believe that is Ibiza blue. At the Hyundai design studio in Seoul they had that car in that color in various stages of rotation around the Z axis so you got some good views of the underbody. When I get back home (in Dallas now) I will post some photos.
 
That looks like Ibiza blue. Montecito Blue photographs darker.

Very complete and detailed review, but the guys "radio friendly" voice and annunciation tends to stand out to me. I am sure the audio is dubbed in post-production, as it would be a feat for him video and keep that running commentary going. It almost begins to feel like an instructional or how to video that comes with the car. Well down review however.
