If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. 2015/2016 Generation Genesis "Dislikes"

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

The new genesis in many ways is a lesser of a car than the 1st generation. But more expensive.

That is a huge stretch. Although a few "features" were frustratingly left off the V8, the numerous additional features and options available trump those few missing - how is that AWD on the 1st generation? The leap in engineering, ride quality, materials and NVH, are worlds (and platforms) different and cannot be compared to the previous generation. The shortchanging of the U.S. V8 AWD is a let down, but the G2 car is no way a lesser car than its previous generation.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

My mistake. I did see the heated outside mirrors listed.

And have a +1 AMEN to that!

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

The Ford Fusion type grill really rubs me the wrong way.

I never get this comparison - strikes me as a just a thing to just say without actually really looking at the 2 cars side-by-side. At least to me, the 2 front ends look nothing alike: aside from the grills both having horizontal slats, the shape and size of the grill (and headlights) are completely different:

And for the folks who seem to say the Genesis looks like an Aston Martin, the Fusion grill is actually much more Aston Martin-like than the Genesis (NOT saying the Fusion looks like an Aston Martin either - but at least some grill similarity):

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Just picked up my 2015 Genesis 3.8 AWD Caspian Black on black tonight. I will report back with any dislikes.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Lack of LED Accent daytime running lights.

The orange glow of standard DRL's are not Premium at all, and a HUGE step back.

Reminds me of LEXUS models from the mid 2000's.

The accent lighting DOES turn on when the xenon lights are on (at night, or when manually turned on during the day)

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

In response to your statement, I am a proud owner of my 2015 AWD Genesis. I always critique my cars. I have been a Hyundai owner since the 1980's. My first Hyundai was the Excel, one of Hyuudai's first cars, fully loaded then in the early 80's. Then I purchased for my daughter an Accent, then the Elantra while she was in college. In 1998, I purchased a Tiburon FX. When My daughter finished college, I purchased her a Sonata. In 2009, I purchased me the Genesis Sedan and now in 2014, the 2015 Genesis. I was with Hyundai when everyone ridiculed them and stayed a loyal customer for over 20 years.

The DRL lights are in no way orange, or amber. They are warm white.

The DRL's are indeed as orange as can be.

The whitish LED Accent lighting that surrounds the headlights only come on when the headlights are on concurrently (either turned on manually or automatically at night)

Please see attached picture.

I think PMCErnie is talking about the Canadian Genesis models where the LED accents are the DRL's.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

I agree that the US DRLs are yellow. I see them reflected every time I stop close behind another car at a light.

I don't really care what color they are. They get me a reduction in my insurance cost and they alert other drivers and that is what they are meant for.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Move the headlight setting once from the auto setting and you have LED DRL's.

But no AUTO lights anymore however. Minor feature misstep, but confounding considering how ahead the car is in many other feature areas and that it is available on cars steps from thirteen U.S. states.

I don't think that the USA model LED's are as bright in Parking Light mode as they are in DRL mode on the Canadian models?

yup significantly brighter in DRL mode than parking mode.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

The DRL's in the US 2015 models are located in the high beam housing, correct? The one bulb in that housing is not yellow, orange, or amber. It is, I believe, white. Not so?

Not so - the USA DRL's are not in the high beam housing and they do use an amber/orange bulb...at least on the models with HID headlights (The HID's are also the high beams via a shutter mechanism).

Hmmm...this could be the case.

Scratching my head over why the U.S. version has orange/Amber colored lights?

Ultimately not a deal breaker, just don't know why Hyundai decided to do this on US Models.

They clearly thought that white LED DRL's were premium enough to be included in the Equus, and the higher trims of the Sonata, so why not on arguably their most higest profile vehicle?

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

US headlight regulations are different than Europe. that may have something to do with it. But, they certainly could have executed better. A minor flaw in my book. The rear seat temperature control is much more annoying.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

After a week of ownership, the only thing that I dislike about my 2015 V6 RWD Ultimate is the fact that it is too easy to raise the headrests unintentionally. Oftentimes I bump my headrest while sitting back in the seat to put on my seatbelt. I have learned to lean my head forward during this process, but I do wish the resistance was higher on the headrest adjustment.
