2016 Genesis News?

I just took delivery of a 2016 Genesis 3.8 Ultimate last night. I was previously looking at the 2015s but the timing worked out right and was able to jump on the '16.

The foglights do add a nice loook to the front of the car.

Would be interested to see how the LED DRL's differ from the LED Parking light surrounds on the 2015. Are they a different bulb? Brighter?

They do look good - and relatively easy (but not cheap) to add to the 2015's, if desired. I added the full OEM foglight setup to my 2015 3.8.

It's cheap if you hard-wire it to the fuse box instead of replacing the stalk.

True - though I'd be concerned it would not pass inspection at some point as I don't believe it's legal for them not to turn off when high beam are on?

You can still hard wire them to the fuse box, you just need a relay to turn them off when the high beams are on. The only problem with hard wire is you cannot turn them off with the low beams on.

I went to my local dealer (Towne Hyundai in Denville NJ) yesterday and talked to him about getting a 2016 Genesis 5.0 in Ibiza Blue. He said they have not seen any 5.0's yet but he thinks I'll only have to wait a week or three to get the one I want. He didn't even have the pricing yet so he will call me Tuesday with his opening offer once he can get the confirmed prices from the corp. He says that if I commit to buying he can get the importer or whoever to send the next blue one his way in place of whatever they had scheduled to send him.

Luckily I am in no rush to get it so I can wait till the one I want is available. It is helpful that the only option to choose for with the 2016 5.0 is the color.

Well, here's an update. The sales manager called on Saturday and he says that there are no 2016 5.0s anywhere in the US or the pipeline. They also don't have the dealer's pricing info on that model. He is of the opinion right now that the 5.0 is not going to be available at all. He is going to check with some people he knows in the Hyundai hierarchy today and let me know what he finds. I'll post again when I hear something.

If this is true I'll have to reconsider the cars I've rejected in favor of getting a V8. Maybe I'll just say screw it and get a Tesla!

It's likely not true, however why not consider a 2105?

Well, here's an update. The sales manager called on Saturday and he says that there are no 2016 5.0s anywhere in the US or the pipeline. They also don't have the dealer's pricing info on that model. He is of the opinion right now that the 5.0 is not going to be available at all. He is going to check with some people he knows in the Hyundai hierarchy today and let me know what he finds. I'll post again when I hear something.

Your dealer does not know what he is talking about- there will be a 5.0 as it's in their launch announcement and brochure. They likely started 2016 production with the 3.8's so they are showing up first - that's all!

The 2016 V8 is listed on the Hyundai webpage, with all MSRP prices. Most dealers have a lot of 2015's still in their inventory, so either they have not got a 2016 yet, or they don't want to tell anyone they have a 2016 so that they can move out the 2015's.

when i went to test drive a genesis saturday, the salesman told me he could only find one 2016 and it was in NJ. despite the fact i can see dozens of them when i search. the business development manager i had been in contact with had a lot more valid info. the salesman looked pretty silly when she started telling the truth in front of him. do salesmen think we're all as dumb as they are?

Yes they do. A car salesman has bills to pay and they need to sell you a car ASAP to get their commission.
