If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015/2016 Generation Genesis "Dislikes"

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"..door/frame seal creaks

I just got a 2015 5.0 new. as of now I have about 500 miles on it, and I'm starting to notice a lot of squeaks and creaks. One seems to be coming from where the driver side window touches the top of the door frame, and the other somewhere in the back, maybe somewhere in the back window. It happens mainly when I am turning and / or going over bumps. It is really starting to scare me if this car is already creaking at 500 miles. Also, the passenger side seat belt buckle slams against the pillar when I turn. Seems so ridiculous.ideas?

I have a new 6/awd/ultimate...I get the seal chafing/ rubbing sound too. I used gummi pflege seal lubricant...it helped...but still there. Do others have a favored product? Some sites say no silicone , some recommend silicone. Our well used Honda crv does not make this noise, nor our ls460. I hope this is easily fixed, I find few other issues with the car...but a primary reason for purchase was the touted quietness. It would be a real disappointment if this continues.

The front door frame is one of the primary needed places for lubrication (see the end of this thread for the product I ordered).

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Lots of complaints here, lots of likes. But not much about the ride quietness. Did they finally put sound insulation in the car, or quieter tires? My biggest complaint of my 2012 is the noisy ride.

I don't have any issues with ride quietness. It's enjoyable and quiet for me.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Hi everyone - new owner here ('15 AWD Ultimate.) My 100 day review:

Love this car! I clearly must be the guy these cars were targeted at - value luxury. Love almost everything about it, so it's a lot easier for me to list my gripes:

1. Electric steering. Worst. Steering. Ever.
2. No gapless playback from iPod or USB stick. What are you, Hyundai, new?
3. The body shape is a real dirt magnet for some reason.

That's really pretty much it. I'll have a much longer post over in likes now...

Hey didn’t we meet on the “other” thread. Well here are two things that stand out for me.
1. One of if not the worst voice recognition system they’ve used so far.
2. The radio should turn off when the car is shut off and not wait for the driver door to open.

Agree on the VR, but there are reports that the 9.5 Map update is a big improvement. Unfortunately, it's pricey.

Regarding the retained radio power, most competitors have been doing that for years. It's a recent addition for Hyundai, and I'd assume that folks most like it. IIRC, you can cycle through the Start button settings, and the radio will shut off.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

The map update is not really pricey compared to what other automakers charge (actually, it's right in line with Acura and BMW charge). It is however pricey compared to some of the free services out there.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

I like the radio staying on. Most cars do this. Toyota is a notable exception.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

As far as the radio staying on after engine off, I always wondered if there was a split-second where somebody outside the car could hear the radio?

When I want to play a certain song while driving, the cars voice recognition system only plays "music" not the specific song I want. Bummer.

True, but if you are using Apple products, you can use Siri Eyes Free.
Press and hold the VR button for a couple of seconds, and tell Siri:

> Play Album The Dark Side of the Moon
or
> Play Song Refugee
(for example)

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

This is not a dislike, more like a suggestion. I was driving home with some birthday balloons floating around the back seat so I could not see out with my rear view mirror very well.

It occurred to me that it would be nice to be able to switch on the rear view camera for these situations. Add it as one of the choices on the main menu and display it without the steering guidelines. Seems like it would be a near-zero cost option.

This would be no different than playing a DVD on your Nav screen while in drive. Thus, it would likely be ruled "illegal."

It would only look like a DVD if you were leaving a drive in theater. I doubt if anyone would be silly enough to rule it illegal. In fact, the day is coming (not soon enough!) when cameras will replace all of the mirrors, especially the ones hanging out in the wind.
