  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Owners: What vehicle did your Genesis replace?

Looked into the oil burning issue, seemed to affect mostly 2011's and early build 2012's....mine was built in May 2012, so far so good, hasn't budged a mm since I took posession, and I've been honkin on it :)

Awesome!

My 2018 G80 Sport 3.3T AWD replaces a 2012 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T Limited. My wife now gets that as her winter car. She drives a 2006 Mustang GT for her fun summer car. The 2004 Honda Accord V6 she had been driving will be used by my in-laws for a basic car for their short drives around town. The Accord is still going strong with 235K miles on it though the AC is not working. The Sonata is also going strong with about 135K miles. We have been very happy with the Sonata and have been eying and planning for the G80 since we saw it at the 2017 Chicago Auto show. I love driving the car. That is a good thing since I put between 25K and 30K miles a year on my cars.

Previous vehicle was a Black 2009 GMC Sierra Denali AWD. Had it for almost 9 years, less than 45k miles. Which is the longest I've ever owned a single vehicle. It just did everything very well. But it was time for something different and I've been eyeing the Genesis, well, since I bought the truck. Picked up the Silver G80 5.0 AWD you see in my profile. I like it.

This is my first Hyundai/Genesis vehicle. Will it be the last, or first of many? That's up to Genesis.

I'm on my 5th Hyundai/Genesis auto. I think you'll be happy with it. I notice in your profile you have GTRAC. You can get it upgraded to HTRAC pretty cheap.

I already upgraded in my mind, by replacing the H with a G in my profile. Hah. Now to find a "GTRAC" badge before Genesis does this on their own... ;)

But yeah, so far, it has been more enjoyable than I expected. Quite happy with the G80!

Previous was a 2015 Genesis 3.6 RWD Ultimate.

Traded a 2013 Kia Forte SX Koup Premium that I enjoyed except for the 2 doors which I knew I would hate when I bought it.
Purchased 18 months old with 11000km & drove it for 2 years & traded @ 34000 KMs.
Bought my 2016 Genesis luxury 3.8 Htrac also 18 months old with 11000 Kilometers in January 2018 from Hyundai Gallery here in Calgary .
So far so good & the dealer has given great service so far fixing rattle in the Panarama roof & a noisy wiper linkage( fixed while I waited with no appointment).
I plan to trade up in 2-3 years to either a used G80 Sport or a G90.
Really like Hyundai/Kia product after 6 1/2 years driving them.
Ist one was a 2013 Kia Rio SX Sedan bought new.
Hyundai/Kia offers great styling ,are well put together & lots of bang for the $.
My current Genesis drives better than my 2001 Mercedes S430 I owned 10 years ago.

Previous car: 2008 Hyundai Azera Limited V6
Current car: 2011 Genesis 4.6 V8

Simple question, what vehicle did your Genesis replace? I'm curious to see how many of you owned a Hyundai prior to purchasing the Genesis. For those of you who are coming from another brand, please specify if this is your first Hyundai vehicle. If not, please list what Hyundai(s) you've owned previously.

Thanks! :)

As for me, the Genesis was a direct replacement for my 2006 Honda Pilot. Since my better half now also drives an SUV, I didn't see the need to have two utility vehicles in our household, plus I missed the luxury of my former car (GS430). When I need to take the dogs somewhere or haul something large/bulky I'll just use our Outlander. ;) The Genesis is my first Hyundai vehicle.
'Replaced' a 10 year old Tiburon that I still like driving. If I could just get it in the trunk of my G90....

2013 Soul base with the 6spd manual, bought new and put 85k miles on it. Now it will be handed down to the kids. Genesis is my first automatic transmission in 25years.

Replaced a 2013 VW GTI with 118,000 miles with a 2019 G80 Sport. Someone asked if I missed the GTI, my response was "not even a little bit."

Traded in our 2004 Toyoda Avalon Xs for our showroom fresh 2016 Hyundai Ultimate and couldn’t be happier.
Just now finally have it in the shop for something other than oil changes’ passenger side rearview mirror stopped folding in/out.

Replaced a 2015 Genesis Ultimate with a 2019 Genesis G70.
I like those Genesis cars.

Traded a Red 2012 Genesis 3.8 Tech with a 2019 G80 3.8 Ultimate (Adriatic Blue / Ivory since Red was not a choice)
