  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dealers with 2019s

I can almost smell them, but unfortunately is smells like the same smoke BMW is blowing. My BMW salesman emailed me a link today to build a 340. When I 'opened' it, it was completely grayed out.

Yes, they are getting closer.

I believe BMW pulled the 340i off the Build and are not taking orders anymore since they are reserving the 330i's.

This was the busiest week yet for Genesis shipping to dealers. They blew right past 200 and now there are 220 dealers showing inventory. All 45 Florida dealers now have inventory and already 15 in Texas.

Since Palm Springs had some type of deal to get cars early CA has inventory and the only state on the watchlist right now is Wisconsin.

What do you mean Wisconsin is the only State on the watch-list? There are tons of States that do not have dealers...let alone State License, etc. PA, CO, UT, ND, SD, etc, etc.

Where were you the last 4 months, not paying attention. LOL The watchlist contains the states that have no dealers with inventory but do have dealers with dealer codes assigned. In other words the state(s) that will be having the 2019s introduced soon.

I've been paying attention...you just worded it weird. So WI has 2 dealer codes...but yet to have inventory. Got it.

Seven more CA dealers were issued a dealer code.

Do you find it puzzling that Genesis is issuing dealer codes to the less populated areas and outlying suburbs of the metro areas? ie. Metro LA and metro SFO

I find their entire brand/dealer rollout puzzling. ;) My understanding is that a lot of the process at this point is legal, going back and forth with lawyers concerning the finalizing of the franchise agreements. Taking a wild guess, I would say the dealers in the more populated areas are probably bigger, perhaps even groups, and it is more complicated and time consuming to iron out the details.

I am not sure there really is something called metro LA, since everything is so spread out but I see there is a Genesis of Glendale. That is fairly metropolitan.

Personally, I think they are fighting about the names since all dealers names now need to start with “Genesis of. . .” No dealer names. In the bigger cities who gets the best name.

I don't know if you noticed but part of the lawsuit settlement in Florida was that dealers can keep their name for the dealership rather than having to confirm to the "Genesis of" convention. I was surprised Genesis gave in on that but guess it would have too expensive to hold out on that point.

:D Well since I lived in Whittier for 35 years until 5 years ago I would define metro LA as others have as the 5 county area. And, yes as you know it is very spread out. Yours and @TurtleBoy's speculation over name assignment is highly likely.

Interesting! Wonder how many of the other dealers wish they had held out for that...

In Western Mass we had a Genesis dealership as part of the Balise family chain. They sold them in their Hyundai store but maintained a separate website. When I checked it a couple weeks ago they only had one car available (I think it was a 2018 leftover). I emailed them about G70 availability but never heard back. And now their web presence is no longer active. Has anyone else lost a local Genesis dealership?

It is projected that only about half of the former Hyundai/Genesis dealers will opt to sign a new franchise agreement so many areas will not have a Genesis dealership.

The dealership where I bought my now totalled 2018 G80 appears to have bowed out.

Well, this looks like a - what do you call it? yeah - a vicious circle. There won't be sales until there are dealers, and there won't be dealers until there are sales.

You can add Genesis of Santa Rosa to the CA list of dealers.

Now you're cooking "TB". I have to turn in my bimmer on the 28th. Do you think I can take delivery of my model and color by Feb. 29? ;):p

Should not be a problem at all. I think in a year they should have inventory all over the state.
