  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

3.3T Intake comparisons

Stinger intakes are pretty much a direct fit into the G70 as the engine bay is the same. It is almost certainly the following:

So if your AEM is working well, I'd like to buy the same one for my G70 specifically because they are one of the only mfg's advertising HP gains with just the CAI alone without adding anything else to the car.
I would recommend rethinking your reasoning here. All aftermarket intakes provide HP gains through the merit of larger filters, thinner media. Heat shielding and price should be your biggest factors for purchase IMO. Mfr listed gains on intakes should always be taken with a grain of salt

That's good information to know. Do different intakes change the engine sound? Cause drone or reduce drone? What would be your recommendations?

Intakes change the sound of air rushing into your turbo, and enhancing the blow off sound. No change to exhaust sound. I would recommend going to the stinger forum. They’ve run intakes for years now and have done IAT temp testing and some real dyno testing to boot.

So you would rather not have manufacturers post dyno charts so that you have to guess at what kind of gains they provide? That seems counter intuitive to me. For me personally I would prefer that any product that claims a performance increase should back it up with a dyno chart showing before and after. Based on your listed criteria the AEM is likely the best choice, as it is the lowest cost intake that actually provides decent looking heat shielding.

I didn’t say that, just that they should be taken with a grain of salt. AEM is actually not a bad choice according to real world testing but I just didnt want the OP to make his choice on one mfr without doing research on the rest when some other intakes provide equal gains and also have heat shielding

Which AEM part number did you order for your G70 3.3? I contacted AEM about CAI's for the G70 and they said they don't have one and don't have any plans to mfg any for the G70. They offered no suggestions either. So if your AEM is working well, I'd like to buy the same one for my G70 specifically because they are one of the only mfg's advertising HP gains with just the CAI alone without adding anything else to the car.

I’d assume the one for the Kia Stinger 3.3L

Just search Aem intake for Kia stinger

I have the AEM set and they fit fine. Intake temps are around same as stock box. Running around 10 degrees warmer than ambient, which is same as stock.

Why are OEM Intakes sealed and all aftermarket CAI's open on top? My Polish logic makes me think fully sealed would be cleaner and keep focused whereas open would lose air flow?

Installed the K&N set (partially) yesterday. About halfway through I figured replacing the vent lines and intake tubes were beyond my skill level ... so at this point just replaced the stock filter housing. Will take it in to get finished properly ...

That looks sealed very well from engine bay heat

So everyone knows, here are the dimensions to the AEM intake system's air filters.

Inlet flange: 6" diameter
Base of cone: 7.375"
Top of cone: 4.78"
Height: 4"

Here is a link to where you can buy the filter directly if you want....
AEM DryFlow Filter

That said, I've been looking up some replacement filters that *might* fit the same system, but should have more surface area, which in turn should flow even better and will have more dirt holding capacity.

This one is a bit taller at 5", but has the inverted top. The base is also a tiny bit bigger in diameter (ie 7.5" vs 7.375"). I assume this would fit as a replacement for the AEM filter. It is also a dryflow filter.

2 - RU-3106HBK K&N Universal Clamp-On Air Filter
K&N makes dry filters as well.

This one is slightly taller (4.8"), and has a bigger diameter top. Problem is that it still has a solid cap with no filter media there. It would still flow better than the original AEM filter, though.

^Anybody with an AEM intake think the above filter(s) would fit? Care to do a quick measurement for any extra room around the filter?

Great question, I'm curious too. Does the AEM intake system use different tubes coming off the turbos? Answer is yes, I looked it up.

I'd like to use my Spectre filters, but the AEM heat shield ideally. I ordered the heat shields only, I'll see how easy to mod them and use my Spectre filters and OEM intake tubes. Cost for heat shields and mounting hardware is $144 shipped.

Note, AEM is also part of K&N.

Nice! Interested to see how it turns out. Please keep me updated.

I figured this would be a place to drop this vid, fresh off youtube.. at the 45 second mark. I believe the intake is Ingen, I don't know anything about it.

EDIT:
