  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

JB4 for G70 2.0 Manual

Has anyone tried the JB4 for their 2.0 Manual? Do we have any results on the gain?

Also, would I need to replace the sparks if I stick to stock and Map1? Believe the Denso’s dont have them for 2.0, what are my options? Thanks!!

Hey guys, we're here and ready to help make these cars faster! :)
New member to your forum. Thanks. Have owned my G70 3.3t for just one year and am looking to spend a little money and have some fun. Here's the drawbacks. Though I love fast cars, I am not mechanically inclined physically or mentally, so I would love some advice and some help. I've been reading about the jb4, and also looking at other performance upgrades. In your opinion, what would be the most logical upgrades I could pursue - basically looking for a bit more speed, also interested in possible exhaust upgrade for improved sound? I'll take all sound ideas - without braking the bank of course. Does a tuner like the jb4 need professional install or can it be done at home? (I warned you - so don't laugh) Any advice, ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Terry isnt active here.

But; are you interested in maintaining your warranty? Answering that will identify the level of risk youre willing to accept, and we can recommend mods based on that.

JB4 can be done at home, but the spark plugs that need to be done with it intimidate me enough that I would pay for it to be done if I ever decide to go the JB4 route

Thanks for the heads up on Terry. As far as upgrades and warranties, just depends on what I am doing. I've read so many different reactions to warranty issues, from the warranty would only be void against whatever upgrades were done, like say the exhaust warranty void if the exhaust is replaced, to all around warranty voids. As I mentioned, not looking to go crazy but want some enhancements. And for sure would have anything professionally installed if it involved something like spark plugs - or even less. If you had any spare time to devote to some recommendations I'm all ears.

Dont take anyones word on warranties. Talk to your dealership and ask them what they think about basic bolts ons. I asked mine, and they have always been cool with intake and exhaust. Anything more than that and we could have issues. Of course if I or anyone else screws up an install and it breaks something, Im paying for it and totally expect that.

Basic mods that are low risk/high reward: Intake/ Catback Exhaust / catch cans

More advanced mods: tune (JB4)/ lowering springs / sway bars / intercooler

Better know what youre doing mods: meth injection / cat deletes

Appreciate all the advice for sure. Guys at my dealer are pretty friendly and helpful so that is a good place to start. One more question - assuming you drive a g70. Regarding the traction control - is it possible for that to not function? Off the line from a standstill, and hitting it pretty hard, the car is really loose - doesn't seem to want to go straight! Have tried with control on and off and doesn't seem to be much difference. A problem? Or normal with that much power in a light car?

Yea I drive a G70, check my sig ;)

The traction control seems to vary in intensity between sport mode and all other modes. In sport mode I could probably spin the car if I tried even with TC fully on. In a straight line TC doesnt seem to activate at all really, its mostly in cornering that its doing work. If youve never driven a RWD car with a lot of power that feeling of being loose even in a straight line can be disconcerting for sure, but youll get used to it as you learn to feather the throttle a bit or power through the wheelspin until it hooks again

Oh I've gotten use to it - and use both methods depending on just how lose at the time or how much room I have to move!:) Just thought I'd ask. Now need to find a reliable shop here in Austin. Thanks again for helping out.

I swear by SoulSpeed Performance. They work on a lot of high-performance cars as well as race prep over at COTA. I believe one of their owners races his 911 Turbo over there.

Calling tomorrow!
Don't be discouraged if you can't reach them or have to leave a voicemail. Personally I email them when I want an appointment and if I give them enough detail on what I want done they will confirm the appointment vs email. Also, it may be a couple of weeks out lol. I've waited a month to get in there before when they were super-busy, pre-Corovid.

Got it. I've waited this long - what's a little longer.

Hey can the intakes and catback exhaust work for the 2.0t awd?

I can get the same ones at the genesis store even though it says for 3.3tt
I’m not sure what you’re saying. But you should only buy an item for your specific engine. Besides the fact that they amhave different designs, the 3.3 has two intakes vs the 2.0 having one

Question about this. Looking to buy and install for 2020 g70 2.0t manual. Once removed (like for going in for service). Can it be detected that this is being used? Dont want probable cause to void my warranty.
