If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Any high mileage Genesis owners out there??

2012 v6 with 220K (kms). Routine maintenance, no failures. One new battery, and one replaced brake caliper. First brake job was at 200k. By far the best car I've ever owned. Still tight and solid, and drives like a new car.

Routinely cruises at 140km/h with one finger on the wheel, even touched on 180km/h yesterday for a short stretch of open highway (dont tell anyone). Crazy how smooth and planted it feels at that speed, total confidence.

Ive got a 2013 v6 I just picked up in the fall with only 23k miles on it. Bought from the original owner
You got to love it when a person answer a thread about high mileage Genesis reliability by stating their car only has 23k miles on it.:)

How does this information help a person looking to see how a high mileage Genesis is holding up if your engine only has 23k miles on it?

I hate to say it, but the guy with the Lexus isn't far off the mark with regards to parts. For some reason it can take a while to get them in. I suspect that will improve over time.
I order my parts online and seem to get them is a timely manner(a week). However, I never ordered any major engine parts; just a new 2015 shift knob, 2017+ sport pedal set and under body covers.

We are driving a foreign car that is made in Korea, so parts will take a while to acquire like other foreign makes(Audi, Mercedes,BMW) that make the cars overseas since the parts has to be shipped from overseas; especially unique parts that are not in high demand as to be placed on dealer part counter shelves as a rule.

2013 Genesis 5.0 R-spec, bought in 2018 with 87,000 miles, currently has 126,000.

2 major issues:
  • Mechanic advised getting warranty, which is good, because trans started slipping and got repl under warranty
  • Cruise control module went out, debated buying used module v. new...bit the bullet and bought new @ $5700...ouch
Love the car

is that $5700 for cruise control?! wtf man!

I recently just purchased a 2013..i sat at the dealership for hours debating whether I should get the extended warranty back by ford...and now $2500 doesnt seem like its such a bad idea after all.

The unit was not covered by the warranty, which was the highest level available. I debated for a few days...but I do mostly highway driving and I couldn't see a) not having cruise and b) being able to sell it w/out cruise working. The Hyundai dealer tested the unit and said there was a short in it, and that there was no way to fix it. I did some looking online and found others who'd experienced the same issue.

yea man, you made me glad I bought the warranty. I'm pretty near you too my car has 66k lol drove it off a ford dealership for 4 days and transmision broke, they putting in a new (used) one for me right now. From what I seen, this version isnt as reliable as my 09, so the warranty definitely, hopefully will pay it self.

did you get an extended warranty? my ford in MD here offer a free 20 years 200k warranty on power train. I purchased an additional Ford premiumcare for the electrical issue, 4 days later transmission jerking so they decide to replace it.

My 2011 v6 cruise control stopped functioning at around 34000 miles, and that ended up affecting shifting - it won't shift over more than 3rd - and from a $160 diagnostic, I was told the ECU needs to be replaced. Buying on my own online will cost about $1700, dealer-bought will cost $1900, plus $600 in labor cost to replace. Bit the bullet since they don't warranty the repair if the one I provided is defective within their repair warranty period.
The dealership has since closed here in Serramonte auto row, so I probably should have just bought it on my own and save the extra $200.

Damn. The 2013 cruise control module is very pricey for a Hyundai part(any car make actually). You could buy an replacement engine or transmission for about the same price as that one module for your 2013. However, I see that the 2014-2016 Geneisis sedan cruise control modules are much cheaper. The cruise control module is still a expensive part overall.

Just as a fyi, I got codes that both CATS are bad. I went to a local brake/muffler shop and they quoted me about $4k to replace. This on a 2011 4.6. The cats are part of the exhaust manifolds. Even aftermarket prices for the cats/manifolds are pretty pricey. The problem was intermittent for a few months and I was lucky enough to hit a couple of days when the check engine light was off and got the car through NJ inspection, which actually fails for such things, but I'm pretty much on borrowed time now until my next April inspection. With183k miles and an ocassional slipping trans that has done so for 100k miles I'm not going to invest much more money into this vehicle. Its starting to miss just a little at low rpms and I'm wondering if the coil packs (original) are going. I might invest <$200 to change those along with the plugs (changed at 100k) and coil pack boots, but not even sure about that..

cant you go to the junkyard?

Supposedly, junkyards can't sell catalytic converters because it's a federal offense to install a used converter on a vehicle.

20 years 200k warranty on power train at the cost of $2500? Wow, that's an excellent deal to me.

Was the car new or used at the time the warranty was offered?

nah its two separate warranty..

the 20 years 200k came with the price of the car. I bought the extra $2500 warranty for electrical and everything else, that one is 4 years and 48k, basically it'll run my to 113k miles on the car

apparently only 3 Ford dealership in the entire nation offer this, this is a used car Hyundai lol which is what I was surprised about.
