If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Confusion About Trim Options - 2.5 vs 3.5

So it begs the question - what small tomedium sized, performance, luxury SUVs around $48K are out there that have the features and tech of the top end $63K Genesis GV70?
I know I will get trashed for this, but just for conversation has anyone that is considering the GV70 2.5 checked out the redesigned Lexus NX? I have an order in (no money down) on a GV 2.5 but was looking and reading what the new NX offers for about the same price (new prices not available yet) and I am quite impressed. No performance car for sure but it has all the extras offered, with 0-60 now listed at 6.8 sec. Owned a 2016 NX and it was slow, slow, but solid as a rock. Sold it after two years. The NX won't be available till third quarter this year.

Well they certainly made it look a lot better although I am not a fan of the interior especially compared to the GV70. Lexus reliability for sure but I am guessing the GV/Hyundai will be just as reliable. Resale won't be as stout on the Genesis. The only reason I see going for the NX would be for the hybrid option.

I'm with you. The 2022 NX is comparable in features, maybe better, particularly with tech. While the NX300 has the most comfortable seats of any of the compact SUVs I looked at, the GV70 will probably have a better ride because of the longer wheelbase (almost 9" longer!). The GV70 is 2" wider, so I imagine the track is wider as well, which would give slightly better handling. [The NX300 even looks tall and narrow.) GV70 has more storage space behind the rear seats. (all this based on 2021 specs). The other thing I noticed comparing a GV70 to a 2021 NX300 - the GV70 has better visibility out the front window (probably due to being wider). Also, I like the less steep slope of the GV70 - makes the cabin feel more spacious. I'm waiting to test out a 2.5T Advanced to make a final decision on the GV70. If I don't go with it, I may very well end up with a 2022NX.

I don't see anyone complaining about the absence of wireless Carplay on the GV70, even in the top trim - that is another thing that is widely becoming a standard on all new vehicles at least for the fully loaded version. To me that is the only thing I am missing in the list of specs of the Sports Prestige package that I am considering. I am yet to decide on which one to go with out of the 2.5T and 3.5T.

Has anyone looked at the 2.5T and 3.5T Sports Prestige package side by side? I am very keen to know what exactly one would be missing in the 2.5T, other than the engine specs.

Ha, ha 'missing' could be a relative term depending on your own priority list (or whether you drive one and add to your priority list, lol). But actually there is about 11 additional main items beyond the V6 that the 2.5t doesn't include. In the 3.5t list only 2 items are shared; 21" wheels & rear side window sunshades. So 3.5t Prestige nets you:
-V6
-Electronic controlled suspension
-Mono Bloc Brakes
-Suede headliner
-Different Seat cover materials
-Carbon Fiber trim
-E-LDS
-Heated 2nd row seats
-Acoustic glass (rear side windows)
-3 zone climate
-12" 3D digital instrument cluster
-HUD
- 3.5t Badge on tailgate

This is trim-dependent, but on the upper trims, I'd have a hard time saying it lags anything in the tech department. In particular, the combination of the automated driving features is supposedly better than all others, including Tesla. I can't verify the comparisons, but I do know it's solid - entirely hands-free including automatic slowing, stopping and re-starting from a stop - dead center in the lane. While I didn't give it much thought before purchasing, the fingerprint recognition is no joke - I don't carry a key any longer.

Thanks for laying this all out. To me all these items for 10k including the bigger motor is totally worth it. As always YMMV.

I found that my old Tesla model 3 autopilot handles turns better than my GV70. However, with all the phantom brake and weird issues I had with the Tesla I stopped using it. I like the GV70s version better.

If you are within $5K of a new Macan (base model) it still does not mean you can afford to maintain it. And oh man its expensive to maintain. Not only you are getting just a Porsche badge with pretty average engine and interior. Base Macan is just a shadow of the real thing to make people feel they can afford German Legend. Badge snobbery is a thing, I know, but in order to do it right you have to have WAY more than $5K over the car you think you can afford.

I was thinking to save some $$ on gas/features and purchase 2.5T Sport Prestige instead 3.5T Sport Prestige, but after I test drove both, 2.5T version died for me. When you floor 2.5T in Sport mode It just does not go anywhere. I was shocked at how slow it accelerates having 300HP under the hood (Reminded me Lexus RX 350 haha). Genesis 3.5T on the other hand is a completely different beast. You have to feel it for yourself, just go for a test drive.

The lack of wireless CarPlay as well as USB-C connectors is an interesting one. (on another GV70 thread, someone specifically called out the wireless CarPlay issue) My best guess is that the OEM who's working with Hyundai to build the infotainment system finds wired CarPlay and good-ole USB-A to be more stable, and less problem prone. I have heard reports of Wireless CarPlay not being as rock-solid and reliable as wired.

I did think the lack of wireless CarPlay was odd, not a deal breaker but I did expect it to be available

Yeah, it is weird. After using a Tesla and not having to plug in my phone every time I didn’t want to deal with plugging my phone in again so I got one of those carlinkit adapters. It works surprisingly well. I’ve had to unplug/plug it in once to get it working but other than that it’s been pretty solid.
I did hit an interesting bug where CarPlay popped up before I confirmed the startup warning message and I was locked out of doing most things with the infotainment system. Had to unplug the carlinkit to get back to the message so I could confirm it.

Hadn't seen those, but haven't researched anything like that yet. I've had to plug-in for CarPlay anyway so not the worst thing I guess....just expected that it would be wireless in my next car. Though for now I'm leaning GV70.

Maybe it has to do with the chip shortage? For this to be a 2022 model, and still using USB-A ports is unusual. Same with wireless CarPlay. Both of those pieces of technology are more modern, efficient, better looking, and where the technology is going. My neighbor's 2021 Chevy Tahoe is USB-C throughout.

For me this is a SUV not a sports car I have a Corvette for that. So getting an extra 75hp for $10k is just not worth it for me plus add on higher registration costs and insurance and less gas mileage.

Engine is just a part of the reason why I don't consider 2.5T. It also has this ugly half analog half digital cluster and is missing heads up display even in top trim. For this price you might as well get new 2022 Lexus NX 350 Turbo that has that has it all with top trim PLUS wireless CarPlay.

Oh really? Even the Sports Prestige trim in 2.5T has the half analog cluster?
