I didn't list every problem that I have had but only highlighted those that were glaring.
Nice to know that I'm insane. That answers every problem that I've ever had. Thanks.
The Genesis nav system has been the biggest disappointment for me, too. I was accused of being "silly" even though I said I wouldn't consider buying another Hyundai if the Genesis failed to retain its resale value, and, oh yeah, I'm disappointed with the nav system.
You're "insane" and I'm "silly" because we're both less than thrilled with the nav system, like many others who've posted on this site. I have a long list of things I don't like about the Genesis nav system, including, but not limited to:
Outdated maps that don't find addresses when you search by address, but DO find locations when you put in the phone number.
The nav system's insistence on indicating a "turn" (the arrow in the bottom right shows distance to "turn") even when the direction is, in fact, to continue on the current road. Garmins do that and I'm baffled as to why the system says a "turn" is coming up, when, in fact, you continue on the road you're on. (This happens very frequently on non-Interstate routing).
Generic icons for things like gas stations, restaurants, etc. Other nav systems actually have the recognizable logo of the establishment for larger chains (i.e., he McDonalds restaurant has a McDonalds logo; a Hilton hotel has the Hilton logo).
The time-to-location is based not on average (or a calculation of current vehicle speed and remaining distance at posted speed limits), but on whatever values you put in for average speeds. The vehicle knows how fast you're going. This is laziness by the nav system designers (other GPS manufacturers do it).
The time-to-location estimate can't be toggled to estimated time at location.
If you cross into another state and then do a search for a location, you have to tell the system to now look in that state. Again, it "knows" where you are.
At least for me, the brightness setting in the middle is too bright at night and too dim during the day. Which obviously means if I set it to dimmer for night, then it's way too dim for day. And if I set it brighter for day, then it's way too bright for night.
I bought a Magellan GPS (with free lifetime traffic) so when the XM subscription expires (and thus the traffic updates), I'll have a system I can rely on. Because I'm not paying Hyundai $200.
