  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Owners: What vehicle did your Genesis replace?

2010 Yukon Denali AWD. Love the Genny, the Denali was an awesome SUV but the gas was getting ridiculous. 13.5mpg avg mix and only 15.6mpg on long interstate trips at 75mph. you can squeeze 18 out of it but you have to drive at 55-60 and who does that?

Nothing really. I'm still driviing my 86 IROC, I just don't drive it in bad weather anymore. I won't be driving the coupe in bad weather either. That's what the truck/jeep is for.

I bought the coupe for several reasons.

1) left over money from my son's college funds
2) I haven't bought myself a new car since 1976
3) my first new car was a yellow Pontiac with a 5 speed - my last new car is a yellow 3.8 Track with a 6 speed (not even close performance wise, I know)
4) those yellow cars are really pretty
5) I'll be retiring in about 4 years and it will be paid for by then

2009 Genesis 3.8 Technology is my first Hyundai, very impressed by this awesome car. It replaces my 2006 Audi A4 2.0 T S-Line.

Just replaced Cadillac CTS with Genesis 4.6 yesterday. So far very happy.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I traded an '06 Lexus GS300 AWD for my Genesis 3.8 withthe Tech Package.

They seem to be on a par with each other with small + and - with each other, but a big difference in trunk size as compared to the GS.

Overall am comfortable with the Genesis but have only had it for less than a month.

My 4.6 is replacing a POS 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee....

Wife drives a CRV but is upgrading to the Pilot so that we have a vehicle for camping and hauling. But I wanted a car this time around after having certainly extracted every drop of useful life from the Jeep.

2009 Maxima SV Premium
Nice Car.
Hope to have the Genesis by the weekend.

I had Toyota Avalon XLS 2000 (got totaled) and BMW Z3 3.0 Roadster (almost gone)
My wife drives Mercedes CLK 55 AMG
So far I have car for 5 days - very happy with it. It's everything I was looking for.

What was wrong with the Maxima? Did it have probelms? If it did not have problems did you get the Genesis just because you like it a lot? Just curious.

Not a single problem with the Max. Great car IMHO. CVT is its achillies heel. It really takes getting used to. Leave the CVT to the Altima and the like, put a proper 6 speed auto in it and I likely would have got a second one.
My lease is up in Feb. But the new car bug bit.
I cross-shopped the CTS, G, Lacrosse, Regal, CC, SHO, C Class, 3 Series
One taste of the Tau and I quickly got past the lack of a perceived premium badge. The big korean is not perfect but the none of the above cars could match the value/content level of the Genny.

The CVT is why my wife and I did not test drive or look at a Maxima, so I get why you picked the Genny.

An '04 Acura TL. I had no intentions of getting rid of the Acura. It was just about to turn 100K miles and it ran like a top.

Unfortunately, my middle daughter was t-boned in her car and it was totaled (she walked away, thank goodness!). She needed a car for school, so I gave her my TL and I got the Genesis...

Replaced an 05 G35 coupe - with the 3.8 tech pkg - so far... love it!!!!!

2003 nissan 350z and a 2005 nissan maxima...

Strangely enough- a 2009 VW Jetta Sportwagen tdi (diesel). I really loved the car- it had great performance and 42 mpg hwy. It's downfall was VW's problem with the high pressure fuel pump. When the hpfp goes-the whole fuel system-front to back- must be replaced. Mine went and cost me 10 days in Tulsa waiting on repairs. VW picked up the repair tab but when the repair is after warranty-it's an $8K tab. My wife refused to ever take a trip in it again!

Replaced 2006 Toyota Avalon. Genesis 4.6 is the first Hyundai that I have owned. I had two Avalons and I loved them, but I wanted an upgrade and the Avalon only offers the 3.5 V6 even in the top of the line model. Went out to buy a Lexus GS, but found out it is way too small inside. Started to look for a used LS460. 12-year-old son kept telling me to look at the Genny. Same day that I drove the LS I drove the 2011 Genny 3.8 and then the 2011 4.6. Bought the 2011 4.6 the next day. Love it every moment. It is a fantastic car. It just doesn't have the status of a Lexus, BMW, Benz...YET.

2011 Genesis 4.6 Titanium/Black K&N, Trunk wings.
2011 Toyota Venza Black/Beige
1972 Olds 442 Convertible 455cid V8 Flame Orange/White
