Genesis Owners: What vehicle did your Genesis replace?

I traded a 2008 Honda Civic Hybrids on my 2011 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 in June. Primary reason was the quite and comfort of the Genesis compared to the rough ride and noise of the Civic. Looked at other hybrids, Camry, Focus, Sonata but none of these were close to the Genesis in ride and comfort. I decided that driving the Genesis would be worth the extra fuel cost since I am a low mileage driver. After five months I have just under 4M miles and have not been disappointed. Am looking forward to first long road trip this weekend from Tucson to LA.

02 Corvette 6MT with a glass top. Main reason for trading it in was ride comfort. Driving a Vette as a daily was wearing me out. Was looking at a G35 and a lexus IS350. It was tough finding a lower mileage 350 for the price I was looking for was tough, and I got the genesis at a great price, so I jumped.

2006 bmw 330i. Traded for an r-spec. Wanted more power and a warranty. The BMW gets really expensive to maintain outside of warranty. This is my first Hyundai .

I replaced a 2005 Nissan Maxima SL with 96k miles it was a great car , but I dont like the Max that Nissan replaced it with. I was really surprised when I first drove my Genesis. Hyundai have come a long way in a short time.

I just picked up my 2012 Genesis 4.6 two days ago. I got the darker grey and black interior. I traded in a 2003 Honda Accord with 115K miles. The dealership had a brand new 2010 4.6 with 500 miles and gave it to me for a week to drive (it helps that I do business with the dealership owners).

I can tell you there is a very marked difference in the way the 2012 drives versus the 2010. Don't get me wrong the 2010 is an amazing car but was a little tight on the suspension and the throttle tip in was very strong. The 2012 is a much smoother driving car. I just stripped the name and badges and have a set of wings on the trunk and a set of wing wheel caps on their way. I will finish it off with the KDM airbag cover and be good to go.

What I love best is being able to tell friends and clients that my new car is just a Hyundai. Very unassuming until they see it!!!

My Black 5.0 R-Spec Sedan replaced my highly modified 2008 Chrysler 300C/SRT8

My reason were two.

#1 - Gas Mileage, the SRT/8 was getting 12MPG on the highway.
(on a good day, with octane booster)

#2 - At 80K miles, it was getting long in the tooth

What most surprises me so far is the gas mileage of this R-Spec 5.0
I've been through five tanks already and it's getting over 26MPG average.

Part of that must be I'm getting older (read as slower), and most on my commute is highway, but if it wasn't for this things ability to lite-up the rears at any given moment, I'd be thinking they must of stuck a in-line 4 in there...

I was initially concerned what my mileage would be but so far it's only about one mpg worse than what I was getting on my Sonata. Not bad considering their is 500 pounds more car and a whole lot more engine.

'95 Accord EX 4-banger (cracked engine block). Hand-me-down from my wife when we bought a 2006 Toyota Sienna XLE (cuz of the 2nd kid). Before that, I was "borrowing" my parent's '94 Toyota 4Runner (still runs like a champ even after 2 accidents).
Always thought I'd buy a Honda/Acura or Toyota/Lexus as my next car. Lovin' the Genesis 3.8 w/ Premium! My favorite band is Genesis (PG/PC), so I love listening to Genesis in my Genesis!

My "fun" cars have usually been BMW's (1974 2002tii, 1989 635 Csi, 2002 525ti) with one side trip with a 1980 RX-7.
Our 525 began showing build quality the issues within 2 years. The handling and power were amazing all the way to selling it off before buying the Genesis. However, everything else was falling apart. I have never owned a car more poorly made (I used to joke it was built during Oktoberfest). Thoroughly researched the "competition", both German and Japanese, but even without the considerable price differences, the Genny spoke to me on a visceral level. I like the look of my car more than any of the competition. At 6' 3", I love the interior room which feels a full class up on the competition.
We originally were flipping between the 3.8/Tech and R-Spec. In the end, bought the 4.6 for reasons that I won't go into for fear of being flamed by both the 3.8 and R-Spec communities.
Have owned her 2.5 weeks and rebadged the trunk, steering wheel and wheels. Changed the oil at 350 and did a thorough clay bar treatment, laying on Menzerna and sealing with Zaino.
I LOVE this car and like the passion found on this site. Hoping to be able to contribute as I gain more knowledge and experience.

Yesterday (12/22/2011) I replaced my 57K mile 2004 Lexus LS430 with a black/black 2012 Genesis 3.6 that has the Premium and Technology options.

I bought the Genesis for a rock-bottom price of $37,654, which is $6,376 below MSRP. Sold the Lexus to a Mercedes-Benz dealer for $19,000, which is well over the Edmunds.com dealer resale price. Came out with the best of both deals.

I'm overjoyed with the whole transaction and, after driving it 150 miles on the way home, I feel that it is faster, quieter, has more options and handles better than my Lexus.

Love it! I'd like to get a 2009 Subaru Legacy GT limited in the next year or two.......I talked my brother into buying the 2005 GT when they came out. He just hit 100,000 and still loves his car. It's too much fun
