  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

FWIW - My wife and I purchased a 2012 3.8 Tech Package on July 4th for ~37k (depending on how you value the trade in). This price was before dealer fee, tax, tag, and title...

so difficult to figure out how you made out unless they came CLOSE to the KBB trade in value (which in my experience is always about $2k too optimistic). they usually use auction sites like manheim, to figure out what used cars are actually being "traded" for.

can't really make that call on 37k since the price goes up or down depending on how little they pay for a trade.

I was offered a -3k on a new car but they dropped the price by that much on my trade.

Out the door I believe I paid 39k (before tax, tag) for 3.8 Tech which worked out to invoice+advertising fee - $1500 competitive rebate. Also, I had KDM badges and trunk tray thrown in on top of the roof visor that came with it.

for you (or I) that is the best you can do around here. if you want to travel a few hours away you can get the Fitzmall prices (and the like) but then you have to pay your own state taxes, etc. it's a PITA but you have to be the judge.. for a few grand to me it's worth it. when my wife gets a new SUV sooner than later, i will shop the internet and give our dealers a chance to match, otherwise they can screw. I turned my friend on the internet "buying process" just last week and he was able to cut off a ton from his new Acura MDX 36 month lease. (from $560/mo with $2400 down PLUS TTL to $525/mo with $2000 down tax included.. that's huge btw an '11 MDX with Tech pkg)

well, nobody said New York is the cheapest place to buy...do what we can :)

I agree. More explicitly, I received a quote from a dealership in Orlando, FL (2 hrs away) for a Platinum 2012 Tech package for $37,689. I went there with my car, which had a kbb quote of $7,400, and they would not meet my demand (i.e. net spread of $30k after trade in). They appraised my car, a 2004 Volvo S60 2.5t, at $5,300. I then went to two other dealerships before finding one that would do the deal (the other dealership that I walked away from appraised the car at $5,800). We landed the deal at net spread of $30,500 + TTT/fee and they agreed to rebadge the car. Hopefully, the added details help others determine what kind of deals are out there. I don't know if I did the best I could, but I walked out of multiple dealerships, and that tells me I did pretty well.

Just had to laugh this am. Reading my local newspaper and I see the same ad as when I was looking to buy my '12 Genesis. Their ad says "We'll beat any Hyundai, Toyota or Honda offer by $2900". Then I see- "Genesis guaranteed lowest price- We'll beat any offer in the USA by $1000! "Bring in any valid offer in the USA and we will beat it on your first visit."
These are the people that couldn't come within $1600 of where I eventually purchased my '12. Funny- it took me 3 visits before I gave up. How do the dealers get away with this slop?

The deed is done. 2012 Genesis, Titanium with black interior, premium package, rebadged (including wheels) MSRP $39,850 purchased for $35,200 (after competitive rebate) plus ttl from Long Island City Hyundai.

$31531 off the lot (yes, including ttl) for 2012 3.8 sedan base model. Leesburg, VA Hyundai beat Fitzmall's advertised price. They actually traded for the car from fitzmall and included a $1500 competitive automotive rebate and $500 military discount.

Just picked up a black r-spec yesterday. Sticker price is 47,485.00 and I I was able to take advantage of the competitor vehicle coupon for my Audi A4 for a 1500.00 discount. I am new to the forum but have visited the site many times in making my decision to purchase a Hyundai. Thank you for all the great information.

great!
can you describe to us how the 5.0 feels compared to the 4.6, if you drove them both?

The r-spec suspension is a little tighter & firmer with that sportier feel in my opinion which I like. It really handles the bumps well. It came with the all season Continental tires instead of the Bridgestone summer ones. Keep in mind I drove the 2011 4.6 about 3 months ago.

I forgot to mention the obvious, that it feel considerable faster. There is though that slight delay with the trans down shift. So we will see if the self programming trans works once I drive it more. My Audi was a manual so there may be some time I need to get use to an automatic. I have not had a chance to really get on it, but it breaks the tires loose pretty easy.

After coming very close to purchasing the 3.8 genesis coupe just over a month ago (the dealer tried to pull a $700+ doc fee and I walked), I made a wiser decision and just pulled the trigger on a 2012 V6 base sedan in pearl white/cashmere.

Price was $31,794, I was able to to use the $1500 competitive owner coupon, which brought the price down to $30,294. I also received 1.9% APR for 48 mos. There was a $279 doc fee, but the dealership will be sending a driver 3 hours to New Orleans and back to have my wife sign the papers as she could not be there with me. They also pay all registration and title fees. They gave me $500 below KBB for my trade-in. I probably could have fought to get KBB, but I didn't have time to argue and so took it.

Louisiana sales tax is 9% on the difference between new car price and trade-in, so my out the door cost was obviously higher.

Platinum 2012 Tech package for $38,313 after comp. rebate. Also got better than KBB on my trade. Only extra was iPod cable. Picked it up Tuesday, clay barred and waxed today and rainX on all windows. Tinted windows scheduled.

Congratulations!
What color did you choose?
Which rainX product you are referring to?
