  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2012 genesis sedan - price paid

definitely, if you live in a decent area. for anyone living in pot hole heaven that car will be unnerving after a short time (i wouldn't own mine if i lived in an area lie that either though, i'd be driving a Caddy, lincoln or Lexus). only gripes on R-spec (i would love it more if) the wheels with the black painted spokes, no wood wheel. i love that wood steering wheel. i grip the wheel to the carpal tunnel point lol, so i like holding it by the wood so it doesn't get crappy in the summer months. should of made it an option.

You tell me to go drive one when I ask an opinion of the ride from an R-spec owner on another thread but here you are offering your opinion of the ride?

Is your level of awareness so low, you can't see the contradiction?

no, i own a genesis so i am able to comment on the ride of mine, V6's.

9 months, what are you waiting for? pull the trigger. i have outed plenty here in the few months of being a member and i couldn't care less. you either own one, or are waiting to buy one. if not, than you are a forum shopper and if you comment negatively about the vehicle which you don't own, you are a "troll" got it?

I said the same thing the second I sat behind the wheel (about the steering wheel that is - I still love the black accented rims). It makes no sense that they would take the wood wheel out - still scratching my head on that one. Anyone heard the justification on that one?

It's supposed to be more "sporty" like the rest of the R-Spec :)
Wood is for the older fogey types :D

You are correct. When I purchased my TL Type-S the wood trim was replaced with faux carbon panels and the steering wheel and shift knob was all black. I would have preferred the original. It is too bad that manufacturers won't let you pick those options. I understand why due to cost but it is still a minor gripe of mine.

Cheers,

Get your meds adjusted dude. Troll? I commented negatively on the car? Go through my posts and produce evidence of that or you’re a liar and a troll as defined as someone who spews self loathing in the form of public lies, misinformation, and negativity about other people. Give up trying to control and enjoy the little Genesis universe where only you think you're a top dog alpha.

The MSRP on the R-Spec is $2k over that of the 4.6. For the addition of GDI, more HP/torque, amazing rims (IMHO) and a modified suspension (jury's out on this) - I think it's $2k more well spent (or $2k well financed).

i was actually referring to the cost of insurance for the 3.8, 4.6, and 5.0, that they should be about the same.
of course, i know the cars cost different amounts.
sorry i didn't make myself clear.

Tony prefers to be ignored, best to move on. Get ready for more "I own one, you don't" schtick.

So funny! I joined on 6/14. On 7/10 I received a PM from tonygxp chiding me for waiting so long to purchase a Genesis! This from someone who downgrades the 2012 at every chance to justify his 2011 purchase. I guess the concept of waiting for the new model to get on the lots is alien to him. He adds life to the forum though. You have to love someone that purchased a V-6 for himself (who got a V-8 by complaing to the dealer about said car) and then goes off on anyone thinking about purchasing a V-6! Mercy.

After looking at your original post, you were completely clear - I just didn't read it well apparently.

The cost to insure the R-Spec may very well be close the 4.6, I just am going through the sticker shock of full coverage on a car (as I didn't bother with my last vehicle). I might try calling around a bit and seeing if I can find something better. It's worth a shot at least.

how's your Genesis treating you? oh, that's right.....another one...

i have voiced my dislike for the E350/LS430 imitation exhaust and the side rockers on all but the R Spec, having said that the '12 has great upgrades over '11. i don't like all of them, but most of them. had i been able to wait another 4+ months, i may have done so, but unlike you guys we still have no V8's at our dealers around here. unless you like getting treated like a second rate customer you NEED to buy from my dealer, it's just how they are. i get the royal treatment when i go in for anything. if you bought somewhere else it's an almost miserable experience.

I do worry about getting second rate treatment with my future genesis servicing having purchased out of state. while it is true that dealers get most profit off of servicing they do still want to sell them. And there is some logic to rewarding customer loyalty. I am debating telling a local dealership that I just moved into the area to see if that helps.

Revisionist history at its finest. Shall we resurrect some of your sillier posts? Savvy folks are waiting a bit for a 2012 price that swamps the 2011 prices - higher to be sure but for a car that has a suspension that works.

keep it on topic, might help

I've been working with or on several local dealers who claim to beat any deal by whatever amount they happen to choose. When it comes to putting up-they leave the game. The dealer they seem to be having a problem with is Fitzmall.
Like I say- I've just started the process and I'm making it tougher on myself because I have a trade. Fitzmall has their price online in stone plus the typical baloney dealer fee of $499 and transfers of $170.
I'm looking at the V6 plus premium package and it appears to be priced at a MSRP of $39,885. Fitzmall discounts it to $35,096 which by the way also includes the $1500 customer loyalty/ competitor rebate. The deals still in the working stages but it appears they're giving me a good price on my trade which is something the other dealers weren't even close on. It seems like most of the dealers will give you a decent price on the car but then "take it back" with the trade in. So far- I've dealt with three dealerships.
One of my local (meet any price) dealers offered me the car at $36,500 but when I brought up Fitzmall's $35,096- the salesman gave up and emailed that I should go buy the car from Fitzmall.
Like I said-it's not done yet-but I'll let you know how it goes.

Take your car to Carmax and see what they will offer. I have done that before and gotten a better price than offered by a dealer. If you show the offer to the dealer, he will usually match it. It costs nothing to do this, so it is worth the trip.

Just had to laugh this am. Reading my local newspaper and I see the same ad as when I was looking to buy my '12 Genesis. Their ad says "We'll beat any Hyundai, Toyota or Honda offer by $2900". Then I see- "Genesis guaranteed lowest price- We'll beat any offer in the USA by $1000! "Bring in any valid offer in the USA and we will beat it on your first visit."
These are the people that couldn't come within $1600 of where I eventually purchased my '12. Funny- it took me 3 visits before I gave up. How do the dealers get away with this slop?

Last week I got an online survey from Hyundai NA asking about my buying experiences at the different dealers. I explained in detail Napleton's false advertising claims (see above quote). In this weekends ads- Napleton now says they'll beat any dealer in SOUTH FLORIDA. I guess Fitzmall in Tampa was too much for them. I'd also like to hope that Hyundai stepped on Napleton's toes! Now- maybe Napleton can beat somebody's price(LOL).

Upsbroke, I was at Napleton's last night and they would not let me test an R-Spec due to in the showroom. They had ~$5k of adders to the list for nitro, pin stipe, gas etc. I did not even want to start with price, especially without a test drive.

Did you check Fitzmall website in Clearwater? They show a titanium with black interior Rspec discounted $5k.
Coconut Creek Hyundai also shows one but doesn't show color or price. Stay away from Napleton on Okeechobee. I gave them more than enough chances to sell the car. It was not a pleasant experience. If you're interested- Leslie in "internet" was very nice at Fitzmall and I bought from Tom Obrien on internet at CC.
