2015/2016 Generation Genesis "Dislikes"

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

It is set for fastest route. Maybe the Bluelink Google Nav would be better.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Yes, the second cup holder is useless unless you drink from 12 oz. cans because that is about the only thing that will fit there. 16 oz. juice or Gatorade bottles don't fit. 95% of the time I'm driving by myself so it doesn't bother me, but it is a stark contrast to have a car with 4 cup holders (only 2 if 5 people in car) compared to my wife's minivan which seems to have an estimated 37 cup holders

Just to clarify, it is the REAR cupholders that are too small, but one CAN fit two let's say Ventis into both the front cupholders simultaneously? Right? Oh pretty please right, thought I'd tested this!

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Are you the sure “shortest route”, “fastest route is set right”? That might explain it. Agreed the safety features are one of the primary reasons for my purchase and I’m definitely not disappointed. I’m amazed at how well those systems work. The top crash tests honors are significant also. Though I never hope to verify them.

I have done that before. :D

When I had my 2012 Genesis in for service recently I got my first look at the 2015 Gen 2. I had my Contigo Kuerig coffee travel mug with me and noticed that it wouldn't fit in one of the holders. I think it was the rear most one of the two in the front console. The front holder was fine as I recall. I didn't try the cup holders in the back seat. So basically, it appears that only one of the two people in the front seats is entitled to a full cup of coffee. I guess that would be whoever is making the payments or at least whoever bought the coffee.

It does seem somewhat incredulous that they could a mistake on something like this. My old 1999 Acura TL cup holders were annoying because they were too big for some drinks ( a 12 oz can would rattle around inside the holder). My last Genesis and my current 2012 model both have great cup holders with little (auto) adjustable tabs that keep small cans in place but just as happily accept a large cup. The Genesis is a great car but I am continuously shaking my head at some of the decisions they make on equipment. Especially up here in Canada.

Supposedly getting my car on Monday, and as coffee is actually my passion, I was sure I'd checked this: can someone with an AMERICAN car confirm that the coffee holders in FRONT in the 2015 Genesis Ultimate are NOT both able to hold really large, e.g. a Starbucks [no I drink COFFEE not *bux crap, but the size is a good standard here] Venti cups??

Can someone actually CHECK this in their car? Thanks so much!

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

It appears that the two cupholders in the FRONT are different sizes. However even the smaller one to the rear appears to easily hold a Starbucks cup - the larger one looks best for the reusable larger mugs.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Interesting and not pointed out is the Lexicon speaker space on the door is greatly reduced. Appearently reduced the speaker sizes to fit the smaller cavity.

The doors are of a much higher quality than before, from the open pore wood which is sexy IMO to the real brushed aluminum. I'm still mixed on my feelings of the door pocket but beyond that it's a nice design. If you note they repositioned some of the speakers within the interior, this was to both improve audio quality and eliminate rattle from the speakers in the door...the 17 speaker Lexicon audio system now produces 900 watts of power vs. 500. I also like that the shade on the back doesn't rattle much if at all when the volume is turned up.

The front holder can handle a McDonald's or Dunkin' Donuts large sized coffee with no issue, beyond that I'm not sure.

Okay possible I'm bloody visually impaired here, but when -I- looked at that picture I thought, " right then, those two cup holders are the SAME SIZE."

You do see the prongs in the one further back, but I believe they're in both. This won't stop me buying it - IF they'll sell me the d%mn thing - but again a beg: can someone who OWNS A 2015 Genesis 3.8 Ultimate (in case that matters) PUT two Venti-ish cups in and see if they'll both and simultaneously fit IN THE FRONT, don't care on the back.

Blessings be!!!

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

First of all, Thanks! Second can the front holder(s) handle TWO larges simultaneously is the REAL query! :grouphug:
Can't help you in regards to the venti cups as I'm not a coffee drinker. Of the two cup holders near the gear selector, the front is larger than the back. A 20 oz. Snapple will fit in the front holder but not the back one. Here is a pic of two Red Solo Cups.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

The back cup holder is sized to hold Grey Poupon jars.

I suspect makes me sad, sad, sad but thank you very helpful! :grouphug:

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Not sure how many have noticed yet or not but thought to mention if you don't have the 17 speaker Lexicon system it will not play DVD Audio (disc not recognized), I'm not sure if it was this way with the older models.

I suspect it wont play SACD's either - not surprising as both were niche products (great audio quality) that never caught on in an era where highly compressed mp3's through cheap earbuds are good enough for 99.9% of folks listening! High Fidelity Audio is way out of the mainstream and largely relegated to the home these days!

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

The 5.0 has both LED fog lights and DTR lights. Unfortunately the 3.8 does not and according to the dealership OEMs CAN NOT BE INSTALLED. I dislike that this is not an option. If some one knows different please post.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

My 2011 Genesis had one important detail (for me) that was lacking and I see it’s carried over to the 2015. I like seeing the cell phone status on the screen in Nav mode. My 2007 G has had it and I like seeing it. It confirms proper operation and signal strength. It’s a small but nice detail.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

I think my NAV voice has a lisp. hahahah... When it has to apologize it doesn't say SORRY it say THORRY.. Really. Its real real real irritating.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

My 2015 3.8AWD is now 20 days old. My gripes are:
1) No bluelink apps for the windows phone. must be because of the dislike betweek Microsoft and Google. get with it Hyundai. Windows phones users are also Genesis buyers!
2) I still miss the stupid lighted door sills which were on my 2012 4.6. I guess you could buy them and the wiring is most likely there.
3) that's about it.
