If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. 2015/2016 Generation Genesis "Dislikes"

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Not at all. Starting it 2 minutes prior covers 80% of my remote starts. I've had remote starters in all my vehicles since my '98 Subaru Legacy GT. I would agree that it is rare for a starter to be able to turn on seat heaters, but this is the first car that the heated seats default to off when the car is turned off. My previous vehicles could be turned off with the heated seats left on and they would be active the next time the car was started.

My disappointment with the bluelink remote start is that it COULD have the ability to turn on the seats and nullify this shortcoming. If i can remotely turn on the defroster and set climate control temperatures with the app, it wouldn't take much to toggle on the seats. It's a MAJOR oversight, imo.

May I ask why you do this for only a couple of minutes? Just sounds odd to me but maybe I am missing something.

Mostly because i am wrangling 3 kids out the door so if i were to start it what i thought would be 5-7 minutes early, it would turn into 20 minutes and have shut off by the time we all get out the door.

They shut themselves off after 15 minutes so no worry there. ;)

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

It's still not the same as sliding into a heated seat. Fortunately, the heated steering wheel DOES maintain its toggled "on" position when started.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Yeah after owning the car for a few weeks, the fact that some things don't stay on (drive mode, heated seats, ect) maybe one of the few annoyances.

but I don't think the heated steering wheel actually turns on until you physically enter the car when you remote start, even though it remembers the switch position?

Interesting, I'll pay closer attention next time i use the remote start. This morning, i manually started it and let our warm up while i was inside finishing getting ready and it definitely heated up without me in the car.

It doesn't actually turn on even with the switch toggled on when remote starting - I remote started leaving work today and the wheel was cold when I got to the car 5 minutes or so later - it did not start to heat until I got in and closed the door!

Wow, that's crappy. Too many features, not properly thought through. Sounds like it was designed by committee.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Maybe already stated but my dislike is having to use Bluelink for remote star. My previous car a Lincoln MKS had it on key fob much less hassle.

But remote start on the fob is only useful for relatively close range. It would not work out to parking lot at work where I use it most (car is in garage at home, no no need for remote start there). The Genesis Bluelink App works great for remote start and only takes a few seconds - not sure why many have such an issue with it?

I agree with this however since we do not get Bluelink in Canada I have had a remote start and Drone mobile installed. Not only can you start the car from anywhere in the world from your smart phone, I actually got to the drone link on my computer at work before leaving and fire her up from the internet. this is really cool not to mention very practical.

Sounds like Drone is a good option for our friends in the North - albeit at additional cost. Btw, you can also start the car from a computer through the Bluelink website.

Thanks for the update, did not realize you could access the Genesis app from a computer.

For you Canucks who are interested in a Drone installation, $639 CDN is what it cost me which includes a 3 month trial subscription. Basic subscription to the service is $50/year or $120/3 years.

Just to be clear, it's not the Genesis App, it's Bluelink and it's through MyHyundai.com (at least in the US). You log in through:https://www.hyundaiusa.com/MyHyundai/Home/Index
And then through the Bluelink page you can do several functions on any device with internet access: remote start, remote lock/unlock, remote horn/lights, POI search (Google powered with send to Genesis function).

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

One more item regarding the Drone/remote start setup. When you do sell your car you can have it uninstalled for around $50 and then reinstalled in your next car for around $100 all while continuing on the same subscription.

Re: Navigation problems

I have had several Maxima's with pretty good Nav systems. I have the Genny 3.8 AWD Ultimate but I have had serious problems with the Nav. It has sent me on stupid back roads a number of times for NO reason. This is in areas I know well and other areas I don't. I have it set for faster time, and nothing about toll roads is relevant. It there something wrong with their algorithms? Or is something I can't find set wrong? This is really the only thing I don't like about this car but it really is annoying as hell!

You are right sir. Just came to Maryland from NY. The route it gave me was the worse. I use google navi most of the time.(which I believe is the best navi in the world) and I had igo primo in my Camry and that was really good too. The worst part of Genny navi is there is no alternative route options. I mean WTH why not. It was only giving me fast and short and both of them where exactly the same. I was going crazy last night. They should atleast give you options for different route. Like my Camry system use to give fast,green,easy,fast2,fast3,easy2 I mean literally I use to have 5-6 options and then I use to compare it with google navi with less traffic and select that. I know it software issues and hope it get fixed with update.

My only hope is google auto/carplay . and I think hyundai didn't want to do much efforts on navi part cz they where thinking that we will have google navi eventually so and 90% owner will use that only so why waste time on system navi. This is what I think.

Sent from mobile.

Then you haven't tried Waze. Of course, I believe Google owns that now also. They know a good thing when they see it.

That's right its owned by google. But I'm not talking abt the cool graphics. I believe you waze is very cool and lots of graphic its like you navigating in Disney world lol. But we are talking about algorithms which sucks in new Genny.

^^^ Why would you stick a HTRAC badge on your car when you state its RWD as per your signature?
