2015/2016 Generation Genesis "Dislikes"

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

^^^ Why would you stick a HTRAC badge on your car when you state its RWD as per your signature?

Seriously IDK. When I bought the wing badge from amazon, do you the next screen when you get the confirmation. I saw on next screen "people who bought this also bought this "(htrac badge) so I clicked on it. I have amazon one click checkout so its just happened lol.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

The one you see on the ebay link will disappoint (you'll need both hands to buckle up due to the fabric between the two connectors that allows the buckle to flop around).
There is another option that is belt free (found on Amazon) that solves the problem completely but is a bit more money at $40.00 a pair. It is a solid extender (3 inch) and it's available in three color choices. I bought a pair and am completely satisfied. Make sure you buy a 'left' and a 'right' as the orange releases in your car are configured that way and you will want everything to match ;).

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

My problem with the car is the paint (IBIZA BLUE) for the hood and front bumper cover is very thin and chips very easy. Small chips from sand or dirt from cars in front of you damages the paint very easy on interstate. Something to consider is Clear bra., But this runs for over $700.00.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

I've had the car (V6 AWD) for about a month now and my major 'dislike' is the cars cruise control behavior. It makes no difference what cruise control mode is selected, standard or adaptive. On a wind free flat road with no traffic, no curves and no elevation changes the cruise control always seems to be searching (very slight but to me noticeable and irritating) for its selected speed. It reminds me of those drivers we've all ridden with that seem to think doing a tap dance on their brakes and throttle as they drive is necessary. This ever so slight 'hunting' is not affected by changing the driving mode from ECO - Norm - Sport. Short of that - my list of dislikes is very, very small.

I've not experienced such problems with mine and I've used the ACC a lot. There may be a problem that requires a dealer's attention with yours. Good luck.

I agree with Chuck: that does not happen at all on mine - it's rock solid. The adaptive CC is awesome at matching speeds to the traffic ahead and makes cruise control worthwhile (versus non-adaptive where you have to constantly adjust based on traffic) - in fact, the Genesis is the first car that I've actually used cruise control regularly as it works so seamlessly.

I agree - works great. My previous car (2007 G35S) also had laser cruise and it was jerky. The Genesis is much smoother. Full start/stop is a bonus. I find on the highway, I generally use it unless in true bumper to bumber

Actually, for ME, it's IN the "true bumper to bumper" that I lurve her the most.

One of the reasons I chose her instead of other potentials was that her ACC (and the Audi A6's maybe and Mercedes E-350's) can be turned ON from almost any speed over about 2 mph so if you're in bumper to bumper and you panic and hit the brake or the car ahead breaks out of the pack and you take over the pedal and take it off ACC and then come to a stop right back in bumper to bumper, you can restart it when you can barely move.

AND our ACC is, of course, also practically unique in that if you're in bumper to bumper and you sit for more than 3 seconds when you'd normally have to hit the gas pedal and take it off ACC and then have to move your knee: pedal, brake, pedal, brake, pedal, brake, pain, pain PAIN - you just tap that lil ole RESUME button and it goes and stops.

Yup! Me too. :) Love it in stop & go.

Nice to hear that the rest of you have smooth operating cruise control. It's obvious that Hyundai got everything pretty well nailed down with the new Genesis. When I bring my car in for its first service I'll get my cruise control system checked out. Thanks for the feedback.

If you can do it safely, I highly recommend you video tape it so you can show your dealer. Then ask to test drive the same model on their lot and show them it does not happen in that car. I have zero issues with mine and as stated above, this sounds like something that needs to be fixed.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

I do have a bit wider variation in speed with the 2015 V-6 8-speed than I had with the 2009 V-8 6-speed. I think this is because there is less power in the V-6, a higher final ratio in the 8-speed, and the need to shift down on an occasional hill with the V-6.

It some times does seem a bit laggy catching up to the setting.

Oh well, it is a servo and a servo needs an error indication to respond. With the analog speedo in the 2009, a small error is a lot less noticeable than with the 2015 digital speedometer.

I drove almost 500 miles yesterday, mostly on adaptive cruise control. With set speeds ranging from 75-80 mph (and occasional clicks up to 85), it was rock solid on speed and I never saw it get more than 1 mph off the set speed and then only for a few seconds. Even going up and down hills in PA, I might have seen it drop up to 2 mph, but it quickly downshifted and got right back on speed.

I also love how you can increase/decrease speed with the thumb wheel on the steering wheel in 1 mph increments with each jab (up or down) - nice feature!

You can also hold it down and it jumps to 5 mph increments (up or down). Great feature.

Nice - I didn't realize that. Thanks!

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Surprised it's not been mentioned but in an attempt to lighten the Genesis () Hyundai has only supplied us with two rear license plate bolt holes, not four like everyone else. Using just two bolts to secure the rear plate when the plate has provisions for four bolts looks a little amateur. Might as well skip any fancy license plate frame you thought might look nice back there or get used to seeing two empty mounting holes on your rear plate every time you go behind your car. Time to visit ebay for a rear plate mounting bracket that can accept four bolts and remedy Hyundai's oversight..

Hmmm, I have owned a heck of a lot of cars however I have yet to own one with 4 mounting screws. Will check the Mercedes but I think even that one has only 2.

Are you saying that Hyundai screwed you?

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

No Ernie - I screwed Hyundai .
I found a 'Mickey Mouse' fix. I found two small black bolt/nut assemblies and secured my frame and plate together as if there were two holes for them to screw into. I then covered the few exposed bolt threads protruding through the nuts behind the plate with just enough windshield washer hose to keep the bolts from making physical contact with the painted surface under the plate. Irritant fixed :D. I bet others will follow ;).

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Could be a little faster, lighter, & more fuel efficient.
Transmission could be a little quicker
Sound system needs more bass.. I can't even hear the subwoofer
Heated steering wheel should be included in all Ultimate. Come on, even Sonatas have them.
