2015/2016 Generation Genesis "Dislikes"

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

2 - it has DRL's - just not LED DRL's
5 - if you hit the close shade button it does close both the sunroof and the sunshade
6 - if the gap was shallower, the the cushion would have to be thinner which would not be as comfortable?
8 - the seat does not move forward until you get in the car and close the door after remote starting
9 - why? It's easier and no need to slam shut by using the button?
10 - so why didn't you buy the V8 Ultimate?
11 - so why didn't you buy white on black?

2. You are correct. I meant the fog lights.
5. Nice, ill try it
6. True
8. Hmm, maybe im mistaken.
9. Sometimes I just want to slam the trunk, lol
10. They didnt have any, that wasnt jacked up by 5K with dealer addons.
11. They didnt have any. :(

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Now that I am actually seeing a number of these new Genesis on the road I have to say I find the looks quite ugly. The cars profile view has the shape of an old man's hightop shoe. Or like a Nike basket ball shoe. Compared to the previous 1st version which I own this new one is an embarrassment frankly.
All the gadgetry in the world won't improve the car's looks and all those gizmo's do is distract the driver from doing what they are supposed to be doing. WATCHING THE ROAD

That is funny. Will use your old man high top and basketball quotes, with your permission... Cracking up. I just went to the to look at both first gen and second gen next to each other in the garage. You are dead on. Oh, and if you want to add... I call the grill a modified version of the Audi "BJ grill". That huge "mouth open and ready" look that seems to appeal to many. Up close it the second gen look does grow on people. I am now cool with it.

So far, couple customers like the looks of new one better, so do the millennial engineers I have... Two of my team members after being in my first gen went out and bought first gen (used)... Now one of my other engineers like gen two enough to go look at one this week.

Styling is subjective indeed.

Have you actually driven a gen 2 or has your opinion been formed from merely speculation about the car itself?

Regarding the technology, I respectfully disagree. IMO, I absolutely love the technology this car offers. A few examples. The HUD projects the vehicle speed, speed limit, navigation directions and blind spot warning indicator in the line of sight. Also, the blind spot indicator and the cross traffic alert assist the driver to presence of other traffic in the immediate vicinity. I'm not quite sure why you take issue with these aformentioned safety features. With that said, situational awareness is obviously key and the driver should not solely rely on technology.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Really having to slam the trunk to get it to close. It's the cheapest feeling/sounding element in the car.

Love the split screen on the nav (non Ultimate).

Wish one could get ECO shift points with Sport suspension mode.

I completely agree. The technology, particularly the HUD, enhances safety, not detracts from it. Love the blind-spot indicators.

Not sure why you don't press the button to automatically close the trunk.

He must have the base model which has no powered trunk from my understanding.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Took delivery only last night but have found a few small dislikes so far:

1) Touch points for my elbows (especially the center armrest) are not padded enough.

2) Also the steering wheel could have been a little thicker for better grip.

3) The audible greeting when first starting the car sounds cheap somehow. I hope there is a way to turn that sound off...

4) I have to manually engage the auto hold function every time I turn the car on, would be nice if it remembered the last setting...

Regarding #3, I believe there is a way to disable it. Dig around in the settings menu; it's in there somewhere.

Regarding #4, I completely agree and have felt this way on each of my Genesis. I will say that the auto-hold in the 2015 is less aggressive in catching; it's almost like you have to intentionally "make it grab." That portion is pretty good engineering on Hyundai's part; I couldn't describe in exact terms how to make it grab, but my foot just seems to "know". On the previous models, anytime you came to a complete stop they would grab.

Mine grabs every time I stop the car without fail.

I believe what he's talking about is that you have to turn the auto-hold feature back on each and every time you start the car, one of my pet peeves with the Genesis also!

I've noticed the same that you almost have to want to make it engage. This isn't a dislike for me, its actually a like. On the previous gen as soon as speed was 0 it engaged here there's like a half second delay or something that gives you the ability to allow the car to creep if you so choose.

I know what you mean in comparing the Gen 1 and 2 auto brake. The gen 1 you could come to a complete stop with ever so light brake pressure. On the gen 2 if you do this the auto hold will not engage, you need more brake pressure when the car finally stops in order to engage.

Let me put it this way. If you are stuck in traffic and inching along behind a car and simply advance ever so slowly by simply letting a little pressure off the brake and then push ever so slightly until you come to a stop behind the car in front of you, the auto brake will not come on. You need to put little more pressure on the brake once stopped to activate compared to the gen 1. Make sense?

Yep that is what I was referring to, I have no complaints about its operation. Plus the auto hold display on the screen turns green to let you know it is ok to lift your foot off the brake. I just wish the auto hold function stayed on when I start the car...

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Sorry for the tangent; I get the "turn on when starting the car" thing, and that was what I was agreeing with. My point about how it grabs was completely orthogonal (sorry).

+1.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

I suppose my only real gripe so far is that seat memory, etc doesn't seem to tie to a key fob. It is pretty common these days for a fob to be tied to a memory setting so that the car automatically recalls the correct position based on the key used to unlock it.
